  1. Yes its normal. You can turn it off or to remember last setting (memory) with an OBD11.

    FOD

I have since picked up an OBD11 and the stuff that is classed as FOD does not work and going by the OBD forum not a single person has managed to get them to work. However the lane assist which I find terrible on the A3 I have managed to switch to memory so it does not come on whenever you re-start the car. The only other app I managed to get to work was needle sweep, had no luck with any of the other apps I fancied although some I would not have installed anyway. I have however had a lot more success with the wifes golf 8. Installed some extra dash displays (GTI AND R version), Lane departure memory (like A3), Fuel required to fill tank, windows drop from key lock/unlock buttons, audible confirmation on lock/unlock and maps on both MMI and dash at same time.
  3. I found out this back door way of doing the FOD stuff on another forum. Took the trials of the high beam assist and speed limit display. Once the free trials were over I paid for the high beam assist as me and the wife had found it great on the dark mornings. Interestingly VW UK shop (their FOD) has the added functions so my wifes MK8 Golf now has high beam assist too. No idea why Audi UK seem to have zero interest in FOD.

When I logged in using my pic I changed my location to Germany from U.K. Its not the app on your phone.

Been on the OBDELEVEN forum and no one it appears has managed to get any of the FOD functions to work. So guess even with this VW/Audi don’t want you to have these functions without stumping up cash for them. There are a few things I quite fancy and with the wife having a Golf mk8 it probably will be worth me buying one.

Im not sure what works on all cars but there’s quite a few guys on another site with the OBDELEVEN but not all having success getting the extras to work. According to them owners with earlier cars are having success with most of the added functions (but not all) but guys with more recent cars are not. Something no doubt will be sorted out by developers but I will sit tight until I see how it pans out.

Already got the highbeam assist now. it is very good! There a light display the rear lights do on the RS3 which seems popular but only seems to work on older software, no one with the later software seems able to get this to activate. It’s not the only thing either. Might go and have a look on YouTube

Yep seen plenty of guys mention this on another site but it seems that a lot of the functions don’t work on the new A3 or perhaps more accurately only work on certain versions of software. I have looked into getting something along these lines but never got round to it. I will keep watching the forums and wait until all the functions I would consider adding can be done.

How much does it cost? I’d suggest the vast majority of average owners have no idea what it is either. No issue if you’ve got the kit to do it but I dont.

Thanks. When ordering I just put my normal address in but had to use a German type zip code so I used the British consulate in Berlin😉. Receipt was emailed to me and it was just a case of installing the function when I next went into the car. This popped up on the MMI screen. The functions show up as purchases in the MMI section (shopping bag icon) with expiry dates if you haven’t purchased the unlimited option. The cost of £120 is not much more than the factory fit option which is £100 but it’s quite a bit cheaper than the £169 VW charge for the same function as an over the air FOD.
  11. Thanks. Again something that I feel should have already been in the car but I wasn’t even aware you could get until another owner got one. It is part of the storage pack which is an £175 factory option.

Yep I know there’s a lot built in hence why I posted mate. I was merely pointing out that logging your car details in the German page threw up a few options that Audi UK can’t be arsed making available.

Anyone else logged into myAudi and used Germany as location instead of UK? I did after reading about other owners having success and found I could have highbeam assist and traffic sign recognition. Others have ACC as an option to purchase. I took the 1 month trials on both (€1 each) and have just taken the highbeam assist for the unlimited period which cost £120. Makes a huge difference in the dark mornings and nights. Hard to believe that Audi UK still shows as nothing available for my A3.
  14. Was on another A3 forum and someone had managed to buy the little drivers side storage (glovebox) from their dealers (part number 8Y2863084a). My S Line just had a blank plate instead. I bought one from creweaudi who sent it via post for £40 all in. My Oakley sunglasses fit in it so job done.
