  1. Same, my MOT was due about a month after the fault occurred. From what I read, it's a bit of a design issue with saloons because of where the wiring loom runs through the boot hinge meaning it's prone to getting pinched when the boot is closed. Have a look in the compartment in the left side of the boot. Could see my wiring loom hanging loose in there and I think that's why the wires were getting pinched by the hinge. Reversing light wire is the blue/black one by the way.
  2. In case it helps anyone, I managed to sort this myself. Swapped the light units and still had the error message when the working right side unit was connected to the left. Assumed it was therefore a wiring problem so took off the boot hinge trim and went searching. Quickly found a broken wire at a bent bit of the wiring loom. Fixed the wire and made sure the wiring loom was properly reseated in the trim. 20 minute job and I'm very much a novice.
  3. Hi all, Had an error message come up recently: "left reversing light defective". Car has LED lights so can't replace bulb. Assumed a new sealed unit is needed. Took a chance on a used unit from eBay. Replaced unit but getting same error message. So either I bought a faulty unit with same problem, or it's an issue that's due to something other than the light unit. Any ideas? Anyone had the same issue? Trying to avoid the inevitably expensive trip to the dealer. Cheers
  4. Same issue for me. Ordered the part from Cardiff Audi, arrived next day. Fitted in a few mins and all sorted. Thanks for all the advice in the thread! Bit of a side note, I’d had my front pads and discs and rear pads replaced a couple of weeks ago. Also had unnecessary pre-sense activation where ABS kicked in briefly shortly after that. Wondered whether the restricted servo message was a result of those things, but not seen others in this thread refer to similar so concluded the timing was just coincidence.
