Drivers window regulator/ cable replacement
tommyboy40 replied to tommyboy40's topic in Audi A4 (B7) Forum
I have seen the replacement cables on EBAY, how much of an ordeal is it to with one? -
Hi all, my drivers window appears to have snapped a steel cable. motor is good but no movement. I've removed the door card and found that the cable is indeed broken. Is there a kit available or how much will I need to replace to fix this? Cheers in advance
-
I bought the Dension kit which added bluetooth. Simple fit with no cutting of cables
-
Hi Gareth, Brakes are good and the problem is an imbalance in the handbrake. I'll try the WD method to see if this helps
-
Thanks Steve. I've seen videos where you can adjust it under the rear ashtray at the centre console. Maybe I need to replace both cables as the imbalance is pretty high
-
Hi All, I did a search before posting but came up with nothing. I had my mot today and although the car passed, the parking brake performance was poor at 21%. There's an imbalance of 43%. Anyone got a guide to adjustment? Thanks in advance

It does turn rather a lot. Keep at it and it'll come free

The CF trim round the shift and the ashtray cover would polish up very well. I hope that you took it anyway. It’s not the hardest to hand polish. The wood in mine was pretty scratched
-
Delighted you found what you were looking for. You’re welcome to hijack this thread anytime. It’s so satisfying to do these upgrades. In my mind, the car seems to run better afterwards
-
T Cut won’t do it. A polish would help if you followed the direction of the lines on the trim. Try a cutting compound on a sponge
-
I was lucky to get the wood trim in reasonable condition on eBay. I have some parts arriving on Monday and I’ll enquire about the trim price

I clean all the shuts when I wash the car. It’s only difficult the first time you do it. Keeping it clean after that is easy. It does need another polish, the winter has left it covered in swirl marks. Shame that my trim isn’t any good to you. Have you priced it from the dealer?
-
Each time I open the boot, the state of the gas struts has been annoying me. Decent replacements are only €20 each Fitting the new ones is a 2 minute job
-
Here's my drivers side trim. It does have a couple of marks but it's yours if it's better than yours
-
Since I had the new pollen filter, I pulled out the old one and replaced it. It's a 10 minute job. Check out the difference There is an arrow to indicate the airflow direction And finally, the part number in case anyone needs one

You have certain control from the stereo and it's 100 times better than what was there. I did this in April and didn't fit the mic as it would necessitate removing the trim around the windscreen and it was too wet. I pulled it all off yesterday and found that the person who did the earlier install had broken some of the clips and seriously bent the metal spring clips. I was able to bend the metal to an acceptable standard and re glue the clips with Gorilla glue. If you haven't used this before, it's simply the best available for gluing trim clips back on. A little water to activate and a clamp or two to help it set. Removing the glove box was a little tricky because my car has the cool box/ fridge and there is the AC vent in there which needs removal. You need to reach in and unscrew the vent.

First job was to remove the frankly horrendous mess behind the dash. The Dension kit comes with a harness so needs no cutting.
-
When I got the car it had a Nokia phone kit and a wired aux in for music but I wanted something much better so that I didn't have to plug in my phone like a savage. I bought this Dension unit, there is a better one if your car has MFSW but mine doesn't
-
From the dealer. Picked up a cabin air filter, the 4 spring clips which hold the boot lock trim in position, and the trim for €45
-
Do you want any of the other trim? The gear surround and ashtray are in fantastic nick
-
The OCD is strong with this one! I'm in the middle of gluing back on some clips which were damaged by whoever installed the last phone/aux kit.
-
Hi Mike, I still have all the bits. There are a couple of seat belt marks on the drivers one but I'll grab a pic of it in the office tomorrow and see if it's better than the one you have
-
Cheers for the assist. Ordered the part today for €10

Hi All. My car already has cruise but no multifunction steering wheel. I've watched DIYDaly's great vid about adding DIS but can anyone tell me what I would need to !Removed! the multifunction wheel? Cheers in advance

Seems like ages since I've been here. I'm looking for some pictures of the lower front bumper on other peoples cars. I'm obviously missing some trim which I'd like to find. See below pics of driver and passenger side. Could;d anyone show me a pic of theirs please?
