I ordered an Audi specific one from here that works perfectly. 20 minute job apart from sorting the mess from a car phone install https://www.dension.com/automotive

Story of my life Steve!
-
Cheers Steve. It’s a question of deciding what to do and what to leave alone

Cleaned myself. I use G101 and stiff brush to clean most of the dirt and then wipe with a microfibre. It's not finished yet but it's coming along. I may eventually install a steering wheel with controls and I've read that B7's are prewired for it. Can anyone confirm this? I did order a set of puddle lights for it. I'll post some pics of the install when I get them.

I’m no mechanic but I’m handy with a spanner. I would do most bits myself as I quite enjoy it and it’s vastly satisfying

My thread has some pictures of what I used and pictures of the result. A thorough cleaning is essential first

So I've had my first breakdown, well sort of! Went to the shop and halfway through the journey, I had a loss of power and some vibration. Got it home and said Bugger. I borrowed a scan tool from a mate and discovered a misfire on cylinder 2. Quick hop to the dealer and picked up a set of plugs and a coil pack. Interestingly, the coil pack would have been €100 from a motor factors but was only €53 from the dealer.

Cheers Paul & Steve, I’ve been enjoying it (and the tiny running cost) all week. It was a quiet day today so I had time to give it a decent clean. Wash and dry followed by clay bar. I’m always amazed at how much gunk it removes. You can see that it’s got some deep scratches. I’m not intending to get rid of them before the winter, I’m really doing a winter prep. You can see the bonded tar on the lower trim. Tardis does the job. The clay shows the result Next up was a polish. I wasn’t going for a full correction, simply a polish before applying Gtechniq Exo. This is a shot before the Exo but after the polish with the rotary.

Back from holidays and the car finally has a clutch! Straight back to work so all I did was to replace the last bits of trim. So we have a before And an After I'm pretty happy with the result. Next job has to be puddle and footwell lights. I'm always amazed at the options people choose, I've got electric lumbar support, the cool box and iPod adaptor in the glove box but no footwell or puddle lights!

New car and a fault that is getting to me

That’s shocking work on the timing belt. I agree with Steve, there should be no haggling about transport -
Welcome along. I'm new myself but feel a bit dated when Steve is talking about his grandad having a Volvo 760! I had one for years when I was a freelancer, it could carry tons of gear and was so comfortable to sleep in the back with the seats folded

When I was a kid, all the best cars had red interiors. We still have a 1.9 205GTI with a half red interior. My first car was a VW Scirocco and I replaced the interior with red and black

Still no clutch but some progress on the interior. If anyone is looking for aluminium trim fro a cabriolet, let me know

It looks stunning mate. Open roads and sunshine -
it always amazes me how people are willing to pay more than dealer prices for stuff. Here's the trim for sale on ebay. Someone wants €20 above dealer price
-
It’ll have to be eBay Germany. We can’t buy anything from the Uk without paying custom duties, it’s the same as buying from the US
-
I did have my first Audi shock. If you remember I was looking for the small black piece of trim missing from underneath the front bumper. I would have expected about €25 but it’s €56. I’m determined to source one so if anyone knows any A4’s being broken, please let me know
-
These also have a couple of scuffs but I always reckon that if they’re shiny enough, no one will notice. Although the car is still on the garage lift, I’m hoping to start claying it tomorrow.

Well the wrong clutch has arrived again so my plans for today were stumped a bit. I did however, pull the wheels off and give them a polish and seal The tools needed are simple: A polishing cone on a drill and some polish. The wheel was obviously cleaned first and then polished. After polishing, the wheel was cleaned with IPA and then a coating of Gtechniq C5 applied. Here's a before and after shot, the after is on the left side. It's my first time using C5 and I must say that it's so simple to apply. Here's a couple of random pics of the results

Very nice. I haven’t used the factory cup holder yet but it doesn’t inspire confidence!
