Hi Steve, I had an earth strap fitted by an auto electrician and he said battery fine . if I don’t start it for a day or two it does do it then too so I’m confused. the Audi guys I use (not main dealer) have been ok with me so far and say it’s a case of process of elimination !!!

I know I have posted this a while ago but thought maybe someone since has had this problem? start car fine but if I drive quite far or get temp up to normal in the car. when I maybe pop in the garage or go shopping for anywhere from 1 to ten mins when I get back in it turns over and dies until k take the key out a few times then finally turns and starts. if it’s only a quick journey or I allow car to cool down it starts immediately so it’s definitely heat related. Does anyone know if anything on the starter motor can play up once hot? cheers guys

Feels like an age but at last New Gearbox valve body fitted and car drives superb!! Just a heads up ,anyone with an auto and gets juddering in gear changes then the valve body is a common problem on the 3.0 v6 thanks Karl

2 days to go till I get my car back with gearbox sorted and for the first time since buying can actually drive with confidence!! kid in candy shop comes to mind !😄😄😄

Sorry Dave I didn’t even ask answer your original question!! When I bought the car the MMI screen would come on and go off again. Straight away this was because the rear wiper pipe had come apart and put water on the boot which in turn blew The amp I fixed the leak that’s all dried out then the dealer has sent me to an audio specialist they spent about four hours on the car and they replaced I believe some components in it. Satnav works RadioWorks heating system works on the mmi screen just features missing so I think it’s about coding tbh !!

The leaks been fixed,Mmi has been fixed so I know that’s ok it’s just certain functions are missing off the screen I.e Bluetooth ,tpms,rear camera and adaptive suspension

Best advice I could give is do as many checks as you can on the cars and if possible have someone you know mechanic savvy? but it’s always a risk second hand cars as I have found out myself!! best of luck mate

Big shout out to Steve and Gareth for your words of wisdom . after a heated discussion for about an hour the dealer is going to pay for £1100 the new valve body and I’m gonna put in £250 not a100 % perfect outcome but it is what it is and I just want to confidently drive my audi without worry. thanks again guys 👍👌🏼

Hi guys , sorred it , as Big Dave said it was the rear washer pipe that connects to the wiper someone had joined the pipe somewhere and bodged it .it came apart at some point but it’s now fixed !!!😄

You got balls Steve!! but I understand your logic, let’s see what he has to say on Wednesday, I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt ! This is the murky world of second hand cars unfortunately and I’m a realist , I know you take your life in your hands and to be fair I have been lucky. im 46 been buying them since I was 17 and come out on top with a reasonable car most of the time with pure luck !!

Well said Gareth, and as I said so far he has always been at the end of the phone when needed but he doesn’t yet know the outcome of what I know (valve body) so we will see and I will update when resolved 🤞 thanks Karl

Yeah cheers Steve , I’m going straight to his office I’m not gonna give him a chance to make up an excuse, to be fair to him so far I.e mmi rear washer he got it sorted immediately,but when he sees this amount I don’t think he’s gonna be as keen !! I might be wrong will give you an update

It’s the valve body on gearbox!!! so now gonna have to argue with the dealer who sold it to me , this is gonna be fun! £1350 fitted 😡

Hi guys. After the rear washer pipe was fixed because of the water leak it’s blown my mmi ! Wires look a bit corroded it came back on this morning then went off again. Does anyone know the best people that could deal with this for me? Thanks

Had the same issue! it is most likely the gearbox valve body Mine is in on Wednesday next week for gearbox diagnostic, but all the gearbox people on the phone I have spoke to are saying the same thing

Hi guys after the heavy rain have found water at the bottom of the my rear boot !! im sure I saw a thread on here regarding drain water lugs that are located in this area. For the life of me I can’t find the thread anywhere and now my mmi has gone off 😡😡having a mare I really am !!

Got full service history Dave and it’s in now for gearbox and normal service as we speak. It’s just hit 100000 and it’s with Audi specialist so see what happens Monday . dreading it but yeah having dialogue with the dealer , apparently a common cause is the blow valve on gearbox ? let’s wait with baited breath
