Thanks Gareth I was away and never had time to respond to him properly one of the listings was for a new one and I managed to get the part numbers from a dealership which I cross matched with the one Kev had listed and all the numbers are the same apart from the last two letters. So I chanced my arm and contacted the dealership again and got the same person and explained to him about the difference. And I was pleasantly surprised when he said he would put an enquiry into VAG for me to see what other ones fitted but it can take a while for them to get back to them. So I took a liter of vodka into dealership for the parts man as a thank you. So I will let you know how I get on. I thought about altering a subframe to fit but any welding to subframe is a mot failure.

I fully appreciate the help wasn’t trying to brush anyone off or be dismissive. I really appreciate the in put. I went into Audi where I stay and they couldn’t tell me if any were compatible that was why I was asking if any other one I could use

Hi thanks for that. It’s the 1.9 Tdi I have that one is for the 3.0 liter will that one work.

No problem I will do. I even asked them how much they wanted for gearbox and subframe and they said no until someone wants the engine. I might try and see if I can get a cheap enough donor car

Thanks Iv tried them and eBay the ones I found that had one wouldn’t sell them as they still have engine in them. I really don’t want to scrap car as I really like driving it and apart from subframe it’s fine

Hi I have a 2005 1.9 c5 and have a problem I love the car to bits but I can’t find a front subframe the one I have is rotten and won’t pass an mot and need to change to make safe. Could anyone please help is there another one I can fit to this car. Thanks for any information you can give
