  1. Regarding the add blue I think Artiglio is spot on as many cars that do low miles seem to have issues causing crystallization of the add blue that effects the pump
  2. Finally got to the bottom of the smoking issue with the help of a diagnostic expert. Two owners back the car apparently got a remap and probably other tweaks done. The last owner got the car serviced with a main dealer who must have informed him that the car was remapped and I'm guessing advised the owner to put the original map back in the car which is what happened. I was able to see this from the service documentation I got with the car. The diagnostic guy I left it with was suspicious that the map Audi installed didn't actually install properly and was causing the smoking issue. He said it was a faulty DPF from what he could see so made me the offer of replacing it or bypassing it. I opted for the cheaper option and he left me to gut the DPF on my own time to save money. When I removed the DPF to my surprise it had already been drilled through at some point in its life which explained now why the car was smoking from the start according to the diagnostic guy. I just removed the rest of the DPF material to make sure there was no more issues arising when I went to the bother of removing the dam thing. So all good now so far
  3. Ok been a while since I was here to update. The car seems to be cured but I haven't been extensively driving it to fully confirm as i had it at a diagnostic specialist for the smoking problem and it was in his yard for over a month. I had issues with that plug at the transmission not connecting properly but got it sorted although down the line it will need a replacement plug on the cars loom. the transmission runs smoothly now with no grabbing or fault codes arising thankfully. Looks like it was worth the price of the repair kit in the Mechatronic.

  6. I sent the Mechatronic to ECUtesting.com last week on Stevey's recommendation. They contacted me to say they couldn't find any faults in it so I told them to to rebuild it anyways to rule it out as there seemed to be a lack of power in rev which in turn threw up the gearbox malfunction message. Car is now noticeably better in reverse and so far hasn't thrown code back up doing the same manoeuvre which trigged the gearbox malfunction message. Thanks again Stevey.
  7. your spot on Stevey, ecutesting.com it is as ive no logical way of testing its good before blowing the price of a repair kit in it.
  8. Thanks Steve I was contemplating buying a repair kit myself ATM. I was looking at a good online DIY guide Its a bit tricky in places but looks doable. I will think over it tomorrow after I remove it but looking like ecutesting.com are the better bet as they are quoting £400 for a rebuild on the website if its not scrap plus whatever extra seals I need. Hoping the way mine is behaving on the modest side of the stories about faults in these that it is still salvageable.
  9. Ok 3 months on and car has been off the road a month now as new car has finally arrived for the wife. So busy with life/work so I'm only getting back to it now, I sorted the last fault which was down to the plug issue at the box but the gearbox fault light still comes on when reversing up a steep incline or putting pressure on in reverse. The message goes away after a restart and it behaves normally except the box seems a bit grabby in first gear. No transmission fault codes showing up on the WOW software either? I did do a full box service to rule out that end of things so thinking It has to be the mechatronic thats either worn out or possibly a mechatronic repair kit would cure it? Any advice on how to proceed or any auto box specialists can point me in the right direction or am I looking at a new or reconditioned mechatronic? Ive looked at ecutesting.com who are recommended for repairing these as another option?
  10. Yes Steve ive learnt that before at my peril LOL. I take a bit more time nowadays to find out if its exactly that part thats relative to the code. Good to know you think its not the coolant valve. I did smell the water in the plug today but no scents came from it to lead me to believe it was anything other than just water.
  11. Thanks Steve I was actually looking up why this happened to the plug when you answered. So its nothing to do with transmission oil cooling valve thats documented online as causing this issue? Thanks for clarifying that code does relate to the transmission electric plug.
  12. Gave connectors a clean up with electrical contact cleaner so looking better.
  13. Took the A6 in to do the gearbox service today and the intermittent gearbox error finally showed up on the dash for me instead of the wife. Funnily I could replicate it then by bumping the car over the lift plates. I was suspicious of water ingress or a broken wire the way the fault arose bumping in and out of the garage. So I took the gearbox plug off and it was corroded but pins are all in good shape luckily as its in the early stages. I still have a permanent fault code ATM on the car which may be related to the battery as its a U code and hopefully not linked to the transmission. Any info would be useful on that code. Whats the reason theres water in that plug as its not following the loom into the plug that I can see? I just hope the water hasn't blew the mechtronic unit pictures posted below
  14. Hi Steve, I got the full oil and filters kit today, £156 all in, hopefully get it fitted at the weekend. I will still code the battery just to be on the safe side when get it. I opted for the filter kit first as the battery hasn't put a foot wrong since. I will probably get round to it before the end of the month if it doesnt throw any more hiccups. Shy of forking out £300+ in one week LOL
  15. Noticed you said "filters" Steve? I looked online and it looks like theres two filters in this box? or two different types? Would expect the standard flat filter that goes on underneath the pan but the round long one looks different from the Norm? I'm not big into Auto transmissions and on a learning curve. Just recently done my Yankee Mustang so realise about diagnostic temp checks when getting the right oil level in transmission etc.
