I’ve just been back to the Audi Service Centre regarding this and the problem is most likely due to the Apple iOS Software. I was informed that the Apple iOS Software (from the iPhone 8 to present) is causing issues with the Audi MMI system where both systems are not talking to one another. I have seen many Forum Threads about iOS 11 and 12 causing issues with the MMI system, although mainly with Apple Music as opposed to telephone calls. This might even be an issue with other German manufacturers but that is just speculation.

Hi guys, I’ve just noticed a possible broken tubing from one of the pipes leading from the Turbocharger. I cannot see any wiring loom or fluids leaking, so I am just curious to what this tubing is for. The tube is hidden underneath the engine plastic cowling so I’m not sure where it starts but the break is at the Turbo side (see photos). Should I be concerned?

This was taken a few weeks ago, but the distorted noise can be heard (slightly) when making the call. It gets worse than this at times, but I have no recordings of this. IMG_0459.mov

Hi All, hope everyone is keeping well. I have just had a Warranty repair carried out on my A6 Ultra with the MMI system and Navigation. Ever since I picked up the car in November 2016 (from new), the Navigation system has always been slow and laggy to a point where my previous Audi (2014 A4) seemed to have a much better system. For the past 18-months, the main issue is with the Bluetooth system, where at times, the Bluetooth in the car will either turn the Bluetooth OFF or will turn OFF the Discovery option. Also, when making calls, the echo, crackly and distorted calls can be so difficult to hear what's being said to a point where I have had to end the call, park up and use my iPhone without pairing to my MMI to continue the call. The original MMI version; Software - RMC_EU_P16092 / Navigation - 8X0919884J P32-50-15.03 / Bluetooth - 3.70.3 Upon investigation at the Audi Service Centre, they did find a fault with the Navigation SD card and I was informed the MMI needed a software update. A new Navigation SD card had to be ordered and it has now been recently fitted along with a MMI update to the version below; Software - RMC_EU_P16342 / Navigation 8X0919884J P32-50-15.03 / Bluetooth - 3.70.6 I cannot fault the Audi Service Centre for everything they have done, but I am still experiencing issues with the Bluetooth telephone calls with the distortion issues. I have an iPhone 8 Plus (iOS 12.3.2) and this is a replacement phone (from Apple) but my previous iPhone had the same issues. I have had a replacement SIM (3 Store) and since the MMI and Bluetooth updates, the Reception in the car is better but some calls are still affected by the crackling and distortion. This issue is very much intermittent. I have even made test calls in the car whilst using my iPad to record the sound so I can show the Audi Engineer, but every time I do this test, the phone calls are normal (how typical). Does anyone else have any iPhone-Bluetooth issues when making/receiving calls? I have no access to any other phone, so I cannot test this option.

Thank-you for your replies guys...sorry for my delay in acknowledging them. Sorry you guys are also experiencing a few queries regarding the MMI system. I am still yet to visit my Audi Service Centre as I cannot seem to get the time to visit them. I knew every year there is a MAP update but at a silly price, but to carry out the Navigation Update/Upgrade you first need to upgrade the MMI system, but I am unaware whether the MMI is updated with the Navigation installation or if it is a separate software install. About a year ago, I only enquired with my Service Centre regarding the Navigation upgrade and I was quoted £285.00 (ouch) for the MMI/Navigation upgrade but they would need to order the Navigation software and I would need to book the vehicle in and not just turn up. With the 2019 Navigation software, I can only guess the price would still be near the £300 marker which I do not agree with but rumour has it, with the upgrade, the vehicle needs to be plugged in to the Audi Engineers computer and have a few things tweaked, so the installation cannot be done at home. This is just a rumour though so I could be very much mistaken. Okay, I can purchase a decent TomTom device (with WIFI and Bluetooth) for £200 but I do not like this idea of using a TomTom device when my vehicle has Navigation built-in, so I would be tempted to get an amended quote and maybe have my vehicle booked-in. At least I will not be doing this Annually.

Hi everyone, it’s been a while so many apologies for being away. Hope you’re all having a good start to the New Year. Just asking around...software updates for the A6. I know there is a new Navigation SD card update for my vehicle, but I was wondering whether there is any updates to the existing MMI system and Bluetooth. I have a 2016 (66 Plate) Audi A6 2.0 TDI Ultra 190PS S-Tronic. On the MMI system, the version information is as follows; Software Version: RMC_EU_P16092 Navigation Database Version: 8X0919884J - P32-50-15.03 Bluetooth Software Version: 3.70.3 I am just having issues with my Apple iPhone 8 Plus which connects normally but takes an age to start playing music from my Music Library. Sometimes when trying to play, the Bluetooth on the MMI which automatically switch the Discovery OFF or will turn the Bluetooth OFF. Audi Customer Service refused to believe there was any issue with the vehicle although advised me to see my local Audi Service Centre (which I have not done yet). I have since removed ALL paired devices, reset my Network data on the iPhone and started again. It connects a tad faster but it’s pretty much the same and when making phone calls, whether it’s a 3G or 4G call,I get a horrible scratching sound during the ringtone and during the call. I’ve had to cancel calls before because of the noise and poor signal. Im just enquiring to see if there are any updates and whether this will fix any issues I am experiencing. Thank you all for your time and assistance.

Cheers for your assistance guys. I apologise for the delay in responding...bit hectic these past few weeks. I did make my purchase..I stuck with Goodyear as I have always liked this Brand plus with so many options, I probably wwnt down the safer path. I purchased Goodyear EfficientGrip 245/45 R18 100Y AO tyres. Delivery, Fitting etc cost me £500. I am still running these tyres in and Ive only covered 50-miles in them so Ill have a better feedback on them after 500 Miles etc. Cheers again guys.

Thank you for your reply. I did look at the Avon route when deciding and they have definitely become a popular brand lately and even a guy in work mentioned Avon's too so I did consider these, so many thanks for your advice.

Hi Guys, hope you are all keeping well. Just after some input on tyre choice for the 2016 A6 2.0TDi Ultra S-Tronic (190PS) model. Currently running with the original Bridgestone Turanza ER300 tyres (245/45 R18 100Y) I am a fan of Goodyear tyres and I love the Eagle F1 Asymmetric range as I have owned these before on previous vehicles so I know what they are like, so these are an option as well as a few others listed below; Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3, Goodyear EfficientGrip (Audi Approved), Goodyear Primacy 3 (Audi Approved) Dunlop Sport Maxx GT (Audi Approved) Bridgestone Turanza ER300 (Audi Approved/ Original set-up) I am leading towards the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 tyres but I might stay with the Audi Approved range and might consider the Goodyear EfficientGrip tyres but just wanted a few opinions from other Members and go from there. One website stated that if I choose a non-Audi Approved tyre that my Warranty could be affected. Is this an accurate statement? Never knew a tyre choice could invalidate a vehicle's Warranty. Cheers guys, thank-you. Wesley Jordan

More a Piece of Mind query regarding an Oil and Filter change. My vehicle, 2016 A6 2.0TDI Ultra (190PS) S-Tronic has covered 10,794 and will be a year old soon (22nd November) and is still using the original Oil and Filter. Would it be worthwhile in carrying out an Oil and Filter change at one-year or just wait for the Service/Inspection details within the MMI system which is still advising me on 382 days/Next Oil Change 8000 miles and 382 days/Next Inspection 8400 miles. I am probably being cautious but I have read that some unburnt Diesel can go in to the Sump and mix with the Oil so this is one of my reasons for asking around. I did enquire with Audi UK Customer Services and when I got a call-back, the female on the phone told me to just go with the MMI system and could not get off the phone fast enough so the whole telephone call must have been around 20-seconds. What is the best option?

Last weekend, about 3pm, without starting the vehicle since the previous night, went out to hoover the interior and clean it, keeping the doors open and the Interior lights staying on. Afterwards, I then inflated my tyres but to start the Ignition only so the electric compressor can function. Upon completion, I reset the Tyre Pressure monitor within the MMI and then started the engine only for an alarm to sound, and on the Dash screen, it stated "Start/Stop Fault - System Unavailable". But there were no Amber/Red lights displayed. I turned off the engine and Ignition and restarted the car an this time, no warning. I then went for a drive, to get the vehicle to operating temperature so the Start/Stop system would work and it did, it worked as it normally does. Even to date, there has been no further indication of any warning and I do not have any Diagnostic kits so I cannot check to see if there are any Fault Codes listed on my vehicle. One Audi forums (not this one) stated that on an S3, the Start/Stop fault on there car was due to a faulty Crank Sensor and a Low Battery voltage. I can only assume that the Battery voltage aspect was what played a part on my vehicle but the car is not quite a year old yet so I hope my Battery isn't faulty. Would this cause any fluctuation with the Start/Stop system? Should I have my Audi Service Centre look in to it or is that too extreme?

That was a useful link regarding the DPF.... Removing the DPF for me was never an option as it is too much hassle, especially having it refitted prior to having an M.O.T. so it is easier to learn to live with it and learn how to drive with it and never ignore the warnings, should they ever appear on the Dash and avoid short journeys.
-
Thanks for all of your replies guys, always very helpful so thank-you for taking your time to reply. I actually went to my Audi Service Centre and it actually cost me £13.00 to fill up the Adblue tank. From memory, I think it was about 7-litres to fill-up. I know I could have purchased a bottle myself but the whole process from dropping off the car to driving away (including payment) was 20-minutes and was definitely hassle-free and is guaranteed for at least another 10,000 miles I assume.

Hi All, I have a 2016 A6 2.0 TDi S-Line Ultra (190PS) and purchased the car new back in late-November 2016 (vehicle already built to standard spec) and I have in this time, covered 8700-miles and its not a year old yet. I have not had any Ad-blue Refill warnings yet and was wondering when the most likely time will be? In October, I will be driving from Essex to the Lake District and with daily driving, might push me near or over the 10,000-miles mark which is more than I like but I love driving this car. Would it be worth carrying x4 easy top-up Refill bottles in my car in case? I understand it is a 17-litre tank and x4 bottles will only reset the warning. I was looking in to getting a 10-litre Refill tank/bottle with a separate Audi/VW adaptor but I do not want this in my car the entire trip. I am covered with the AA Breakdown that was issued through my Audi Dealer and was wondering if they keep Ad-blue in their vans if I ever get caught anywhere and need assistance from them. Will they charge me? Is it possible, to Refill Ad-blue in to the tank before the warning has come on or will this cause issues with the system? As always, many thanks for your assistance.

Sorry for the delays in responding. Thank-you for your message. Nice to know we share the same model and in all honestly, I am seeing many 2016 Audi A6's everywhere so there must have been a sale on somewhere, or they took advantage of the Audi Dealer contribution last-year, it helped me. Keep seeing a few Black edition models...if only I could have afforded that at the time. I still notice when using AUTO Drive Select, the Regeneration process seems to happen a lot and had even happened after coming off a Motorway (3-hr trip at 70mph). But I have lately, been using the Manual system which is brilliant as I cannot stall it, LOL. I try and use the Manual system twice a week as I only do short journeys mostly, but every 3-weeks drive from Essex to the West Midlands etc.. I do not hammer the car and I do not speed anymore but I did red-line the car once by accident as I forgot I was in manual but despite this being my third Diesel car, I still no nothing about the engine or its capabilities. With the DPF, I know how to use the manual system and keep it about 2500 RPM pending on the road speed limit and it does clear very quickly. But I purchased this car to save money and driving like Miss Daisy does save me money and I can usually get 750 Miles on a full tank, but driving like this causes DPF issues and you then need to drive at higher REVs to burn off the particulates, burn more fuel and do not get the full advantage of the fuel range on a single tank. So, am I saving money? I do like the fuel range from my vehicle and my previous A4 but I do miss Petrol engines.

2L A6 S Line Ultra TDI Black edition - Newbie question ?
Wesley949 replied to Wisp13's topic in Audi A6 (C7) Forum
With my vehicle, although to date has just covered over 2000 miles, I still think my engine is wearing in and to be fair, I drive like Miss Daisy and I do second-guess myself that diesel was the wrong choice as I'm still a petrol fan, but the diesel aspect was because of the MPG and Miles to Empty figures. I believe that this cold weather is the main reason affecting the MPG output. I did manage to achieve 61.2 on a drive to the West Midlands, then remained stable around the 56.6 mark but overall, between filling-up, the phone APP suggests I range around the mid-40's MPG but I am hoping that upon the warmer weather, these figures will go up. -
Quite possibly. Heard too many bad reports about them, even from the Breakdown recovery companies. Never had any DPF issues on my previous Audi A4 but maybe this new A6 Ultra is just sensitive. I've no plans at all to remove the DPF, too much hassle, affects Warranty and needs to be reinstalled upon every service/ MOT etc..
-
This is the first diesel Ive had that uses Adblue system and the whole vehicle is better than my previous Audi (A4 Saloon) but this vehicle seems more sensitive so maybe its the Ultra engine doing what it needs to and maybe I am mis-reading the signs? I do try and burn off the particles using the manual override on the AUTO system keeping the REVs around or over the 2000RPM's of which must do something as the car feels a lot smoother to drive afterwards. The downside to this, the diesel seems to burn quicker and affects my Miles to Empty figure. I can't keep doing this every time, can I? But when on the Motorway, set in AUTO or ECO, at 70mph, the REVs do not even touch anywhere near the 2000RPM marker so can I assume that even low REVs on the Motorway, this is still adequate enough to burn everything off?
-
I think I must have misread the Operating manual as I'm sure it can happen whilst stationary but I have used the manual override and kept the REVs at 2000 when driving at 50mph for about twenty minutes, or as much as I can on some journeys but once once the engine has warmed up, just difficult to do early in the morning driving to work. Yeah, I heard that failed DPF regeneration can cause unburnt diesel to fall in to the oil sump. Not a good idea at all. I do believe that modern diesels vehicle have a sensor to warn about oil contamination but I've never put this to the test and will probably get the oil changed before the service mileage stated on the MMI screen, not yet though as the car was only registered late-November 2016.
-
Hi all, hope that everyone is ok and keeping well. Just a query regarding the dreaded DPF. I have noticed that my vehicle (2016 A6 2.0 TDI Ultra 190PS) seems to be carrying out the automatic regeneration a lot lately. I had previous, a 2014 A4 2.0 TDI and I do not remember that being as bad with the regeneration cycle, or maybe I am more cautious and notice the tell-tale signs of late. My driving style has never changed and I drive the A6 the same as I ever did on the A4 but seems that every other journey, my REVS sit at 1000RPM's, vibrations felt through the car, Radiator Cooling fans on and the horrid burning smell (like overheated brakes). Not once has any DPF warning light illuminated, in either car but this A6 seems to do this every other day. I do drive to work which is 6-miles and in this cold weather lately, the car Temperature sits at normal just as I park-up so I cannot drive at the 2000RPM's for 20-minutes as per most websites and the handbook. Even when I came off the motorway a few weeks ago, driving for 2-hours and the regeneration cycle started as the REVs sat on 1000RPM's plus but surely I had burnt off the particles during the motorway driving? I know after so many failed attempts, the DPF light will possibly come on, but when the car is doing the regeneration, Ive let my car idle for almost 20-minutes (twice in total) and the REVs did not drop below 1000RPM's but I had to turn the car off as I had things to do. Am I doing anything wrong or should I just take a step back at tad.

2L A6 S Line Ultra TDI Black edition - Newbie question ?
Wesley949 replied to Wisp13's topic in Audi A6 (C7) Forum
HI there, My new A6 isn't proving to be within the manufacturers claims also but again, I'm not that fussed as I'm still getting a great furl return and can easily clear over 600-miles before filling up. My car to date, has only covered 2000 miles so its still breaking but every time I fill up, the Miles to Empty figure is over 700-miles with the highest display being 795 Miles to empty....of course I could not achieve that. I mainly do 12-mile round trips to and from work but every fortnight, I travel up to the West Midlands which pending on my route is a round trip of 320-miles. I picked the car up, unregistered with 21-miles on the clock and a full tank of fuel. I use a Road Trip APP on my phone and below are what is giving me between filling-up; Filled Up - At 21 Miles / Cost Unknown as was done by Dealer. Filled up - At 666 Miles / £79.47 / 44.83 MPG Filled up - At 1366 Miles / £87.98 (BP Ultimate Diesel) / 48.44 MPG Filled up - At 1995 Miles / £80.93 / 43.07 MPG -
Oh, I intend too Only one issue I am not liking but I will not let that bother me.

Hi guys, just a quick query on tyre pressures. 2016 Audi A6 2.0TDI S-Line Ultra (190PS) S-Tronic / Tyres 245/45 R18 100Y XL I have had this car just over two-weeks now and this is the first time I am checking the pressures and all the tyres are cold but the readings all displayed just under 38psi of which I have now let some air out but want to set the correct pressures. The Drivers door tyre pressure sticker indicates the following; FRONT 36psi / REAR 35psi but underneath it then refers to the Owners handbook. When looking in the handbook, it refers to the Comfort mode and the the pressures should be FRONT 32psi / REAR 30psi. All online checks with the vehicle registration state they need to be set at 32/30psi but these pressures are for Comfort mode only from what I understand from the handbook. Its mainly just me within the vehicle, so should I set the pressures for 36/35psi or 32/30psi? Any feedback and advice is very much apreciated.

Hi Guys, I have been an A4 owner for the past 2-years but a few days ago, I traded in my 2014 (64-plate) A4 and purchased a new 2016 Audi A6 so I just thought I should say HI. My vehicle was not made to order, but it was unregistered at the time of Test driving then laying down my deposit. I now have a 2016 A6 2.0 TDI S-LIne Ultra (190PS) S-Tronic in Daytona Grey (Pearl Effect) and the only Factory fitted option is the paint, so everything else is standard. First impressions are very high and love everything about it, especially how mean the vehicle looks from the front how how the grille and bumper set it off. I do find this car a lot bigger that the A4 but that is probably my own opinion, so it shouldn't take too long to adjust. Cheers guys!!
