Sorry for the delay guys.. After the relevant Oil Consumption test, the Audi Service Centre team carried out there investigations, weighed the oil, measures it to what was put in before and although some oil had been consumed, it was within the parameters of the Audi guidelines so no action was needed. I knew this would be the case but least it was a peace of mind to be put at ease and could carry on enjoying the car without having to worry. However, I still think that the Emissions software update played a part somewhere as I did not notice this as much before the update but I could just be speculating. On a separate note, I have now sold my Audi A4 and purchased a new Audi A6, so I will try and keep active in this Forum but will now be going the A6 section also. Cheers guys!!

It's now been 6-weeks plus since having my Emissions update. In all honesty, I still have not noticed anything spectacular if at all. Maybe the fuel level isn't as good but that mayne because of the colder weather now which also has a knock-on effect with my MGP figures between refills. The only thing I have noticed, and maybe more a coincidence or related to the Emissions issue is my Oil Consumption. Early September, I started a drive from Essex to the West Midlands, then from there drove to Cornwall and started my UK-Holiday and did a few driving too. Below is filling-up with Diesel on the start of my trip; 1st Diesel Full-up / 2nd September / Mileage 16,938 2nd Diesel Fill-up / 8th September / Mileage 17,451 3rd Diesel Fill-up / 23rd September / Mileage 18,041 I covered 1,103 miles in 21-days. My MMI Oil Level Display was reading a halfway. I put some oil in and the level went to full. A few days later, the level was at 3/4 full so again, I added more oil. Again, days later, the reading was just under full so I added a little more oil. It finally stayed full. Upon speaking with Audi Customer Services, they advised me to book it in to the Service Centre ASAP, which I did. They drained the oil, measured the new oil, weighed it and put it into my engine. I am limited to drive 600-miles under this Oil Consumption Test - Stage 1, which I have now covered just shy of 500-Miles and my car is already booked in for the 7th November. They will then drain my oil, weigh and measure it to see how much oil I have used and go from there. I am unsure to whether this is linked but just thought I would share.

Cheers guys, I was just curious. I wasn't aware that the Air Con system required computer updates. You learn something new everyday.

Hey Guys, This might be a stupid question so I want to apologise if it is. My dad has the N-Reg Audi A6 SE with the petrol V6 engine (2.6 I think?). He is looking to get a new Rocker Cover gasket but someone told him that only one gasket is required but being a V-engine, wouldn't two gaskets be correct? He was told that one gasket covers both Rocker Covers? This can't be true, can it? I am under the impression that each gasket is separate so two are required, am I right?

Hi Guys, Had my car in with Audi this morning for the Emissions update (separate topic), cabin filter change and a software update for the Air Conditioning system. I forgot to ask at the Audi Service Centre, this Air Conditioning software update, what does this actually do? On the Audi Job Sheet, is states "carried out software update 82B8 update Air Conditioning Unit". Sorry to ask, just curious.

Hey guys, Today was the day....the Emission software update. My Audi Service Centre had my car this morning for the update. When booking-in, I was advised that to-date, my Service Centre had not received any bad feedback from this new update. Dropped my car off at 07:30am, then at 10:30am, got a call back from the Service Centre saying my car was ready. Had the following carried out - Emission Update, Air-Conditioning Update and renew of the cabin pollen filter. It is too early to know what difference this Emissions update had done to my car but driving home, the car did seem to drive smoother and was actually a pleasure to drive but being Automatic, think I was comparing it more to the manual A3 TFSI courtesy car and my "out of practice" gear changes. Anyway, I am on the Motorway for a bit next Weekend so I guess I will see if I still hit the 55 - 58mpg figure I achieved a few weeks ago driving at 70mph in cruise control. I'm not expecting any significant change as to be fair, I have no idea on what this Emissions NOX does. I know there is a system in the car which gives out Factory settings when obtaining Emissions figures which is different when actually taken out on to the open road(s) but no-one has told me as to what this upgrade actually does to my engine.

I just had mine carried out this morning. Probably too early to tell. However, I did notice the drive was more smoother in the 28 Degrees today, but that might be more due to bad gear changes of the 2016 A3 courtesy car i was using so I was comparing the two cars.

Any compensation is great, but despite the start of this whole scandal I have not followed it for a while now. I have no idea on what is happening in the US regarding this? IS it a cash compensation or something else? I was told prior to placing my order that the Emissions in the A4 is far better than what my current vehicle was emitting (a Mondeo Titanium X Sport TDCi (200PS)) so maybe that was a main option in choosing Audi. Seems like a car version of the whole PPI mis-sold issue. With the Emission issue associated with my Audi A4, I would still buy another Audi Diesel in a heartbeat....but I need to pay off my current one first. My vehicle is now booked in towards the end of August to have the Emissions software update, so lets see if anything changes afterwards.

64-plate / A4 2.0 TDI S-Line Multitronic (150 PS) Had an issue starting up this morning. Put the key fob in the dash to turn on the ignition but could not push down the brake pedal. It was solid and had no movement. After a few times, there was no change so I used the spare key but still had the same issues. After a few times of switching on/off the ignition, the brake pedal finally released the pressure and was then able to start. Does anyone know what this issue could be? Is it the start of something major?

Thanks for the reply. I thought I would ask around anyway, despite no "official" fix being published. Like most people, was just curious. I think it will probably be a software fix as I am guessing installing an Ad Blue system to a car without it might be costly upgrade/modification. From what I've been told is that the Ad Blue system is a pain with the refilling despite the face it lowers emissions. Despite the cheat software, the testing of vehicles in a laboratory will never be the same as a road test as I've been told that testing means over inflating the tyres to higher pressures, taping up all gaps with the panels and doors to assist in wind flow, and maybe even remove the wing mirrors. I know my vehicle is one of the many with the cheat device and maybe I am not achieving the "booked" MPG figures as I enter my refills on a iPhone APP (Road Trip) and it logs my fuel cost, mileage, miles covered etc.... and my lowest is 38.62 MPG and the highest to date is 48.72 MPG. It states my average is around 44.04 MPG, so i really cannot complain. Its much better on fuel that my Ford Focus ST ever was (lol) and my last diesel car, a 2011 Ford Mondeo Titanium X Sport TDCI (200 PS), so I still benefit all round at the moment.

Hi All, I have a 64-plate Audi A4 2.0 TDI S-Line Multitronic (150PS) I have just checked my VIN number on the Audi UK website to see if my vehicle is affected by the Diesel Emissions issue that came to light a few weeks ago. I kind of knew my vehicle would be one of the affected ones and now have confirmation. Nothing else has been stated other than that Audi will contact me over the forthcoming weeks and go from there, I was just enquiring to see if anyone has a rough incline of what the "fix" is going to be. Will it just be a software update or will be more intrusive and require an engine modification. I still prefer Petrol as my number 1 choice but went with Diesel for the better MPG as I do a small amount of Motorway miles per Month and I like the three-week plus gap between filling up.

Thank-you for your reply. This is my second every Diesel vehicle, but my first ever brand new vehicle. The Dealer advised me of oil loss within the first six-months but I've never had to use the proved 1-litre oil kit. I hope it's not me being paranoid but I just prefer to be cautious. It has only ever dipped to the 3/4 mark but will keep checking in case it drops more. Is there a chance of diesel mixing with the oil in the sump? I'm still shocked I have a two-year service plan. I've only covered 6000 miles since new.

Audi A4 2.0 TDI S-Line Multitronic Bought the above car brand new on 1st September 2014 and when checking the oil level on the electric MMI system, sometimes it states 3/4 full or Full. I always check on a warm engine but still get either markings. This is where a dipstick check is better than replying on electrics as you get a precise marking. Do I add a touch more oil or just ignore it?

Cheers fella! I believe all the seals are spot-on, no issues at all, even the Air Con condenser/ system is working fine with no leaks found. Might look in to the Silica Gel issue, cheers.

Oh well, 2-days in the Audi Service garage, all test and diagnostics have been carried out and no sign of the issue reported. Even the mechanic took my car home, so he could test it during the morning start-up, and again, nothing was found. I now have my vehicle back, and the smell has not portrayed since. Just need to carry on as normal and go from there. However, in those 2-days, I loved the Audi A6 Ultra (190PS) Courtesy car. Lovely motor but the downside was it had a manual gearbox. Six-Months of driving an Automatic, i'm spoiled. With the A6, I stalled it twice, forgot to push down the clutch pedal at the traffic lights, oops. Maybe my next Courtesy car would be one of the Audi RS-range, LOL.

Hi there. I have a 2014 (64-plate) Audi A4 2.0 TDI S-Line which has covered just over 4400-miles. Last few weeks, not all the time, I have been smelling a musty, damp smell seconds after I engage the Air Con switch. I very much doubt that the Pollen Filter needs changing, but was wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue. My car is booked in to the Audi Dealer/Garage in mid-April (its the earliest I can get time off) for them to look at, as Ive also experienced an issue one morning when the Windscreen was iced-up, but the windscreen from the interior was so heavily condensated that would not budge even with the heater and A/C on full. I wiped some away and then drove off only for it to come back and I had to pull over. I used a cloth to wipe the whole interior windscreen and the cloth was soaking wet and I had to rinse it out afterwards. I have never experienced that much condensation before in my previous cars (all Ford) and the lack of a Heated Windscreen is a down-side but could this condensation be related to the damp smell emitting every now and then? I have checked the carpets and they seem dry, but something isn't right.

Hey there, thanks for your reply. I had Audi Customer Services call me a few days ago stating the same issue, that what my vehicle is telling me is correct. I am on a 2-year Service Plan due to the fact that I do a 360-mile round trip on the Motorway once a Month so there is no need for the Oil to be changed Annually. The Oil used is a much better type, which is what you too have stated. There is no harm in getting the Oil changed Annually but she advised me to book in it when it is required....unless anything causes concern during this period (touch wood it doesn't). I think I was being cautious after my previous Ford Mondeo TDI...I was advised to have the Oil changed every 6-Months due to the fact that it's a Diesel engine and Diesel regularly seeps in to the Sump ruining the oil etc.... but I do like the 2-year interval, so thanks for your assistance fella.

Just an update... I picked up my vehicle on 1st September, 2014 and it's been 11-days now and I love the motor so much. This is my first ever Audi and so far my first impressions are extremely good, which includes the Dealers assistance too. Obviously I am still getting used to the vehicle but being an Automatic (Multritronic) gearbox, it is so effortless to drive. To date, I have only covered 420-miles and has had trips on the Motorway and it's such a great car to drive. So much comfortable than my previous cars (all Ford). Compared to my previous vehicle, a 2011 Ford Mondeo Titanium X Sport TDCi (200PS) manual, I have lost a few options as the main one was the Adaptive Cruise Control which was amazing plus a Solar Reflective windscreen was a bound too. However, despite not having these on the Audi, I am not letting that spoil anything at all.

Hi there, I have an 11-day old Audi A4 2.0TDI (150PS) S-Line Multitronic and I love the car so much. It is a much different class of car compared to the previous Ford vehicles I have owned in the past. I have a few questions regarding the vehicles first Oil Change. On the Infotainment/MMI system, the Oil Change is due in 689-days/18,300 miles. Is this correct? Almost 2-years for an Oil change. Doesn't the oil need to be changed on a new engine after a few Thousand miles? I spoke to my Dealer and they advised me that the car will state on when the Oil is due for a change. Can I still get the Oil changed when I want or does it have to be a set mileage? Sorry for the bombardment of questions, but this is my first ever new car and I'm being cautious etc... Thank-you for your assistance.

I have Registered to this forum a tad too early as yesterday I passed the Finance application on a brand-new Audi, and should be collecting in September, 2014. The model I have ordered is as follows; Late-2014 Audi A4 Saloon TDI 150PS S-Line Multitronic (Black with TECH Pack with Park Assist). This will be my first ever Audi as I'm moving away from the Ford market since I basically started driving in 1995. I had an Escort Ghia 1.3, Escort XR3i, Escort RS Turbo, Focus ST170, x2 Focus ST-3's and I currently drive a 2011 Mondeo Titanium X Sport TDCi). I am looking forward to driving the Audi. I test drove the above model and the Black Edition of which was an amazing car but was too expensive for me, so the S-Line it will be. KInd Regards, Wesley Jordan
