  1. Hi thanks for getting in touch. I did manage to find a set in Hungary through the FB groups, while they aren't the best they get the job done quite well :)
  2. Thank you, I didn't even know retro car trim sites were a thing at all! Yeah I think all the Audi 80s from 85-86 had it, but as its quite a small MY there may not be much around
  3. Thank you that is really helpful. I did actually message the seller a few days ago but they didn't get back to me and even if they did, there is something that makes me uneasy about that site, but can't put my finger on it
  4. Hi Gareth Totally fine, I just thought it more organised to have its own thread. Well a search on eBay has come up with a set of these: However I cannot picture what part of the car they go on, and which bit of trim they are. I get the impression that it covers the sill, but I am not sure... First job on the car however is getting the brake/indicator lights working as they should...
  5. Hi There Today I picked up my B2 Audi 80 Sport. It is a very straight car in Oceanic Blue, however one of the previous owners has de-trimmed it and I would like to return it to this state, as I intend to use it regularly and I like it to look original. Trouble is, I think these parts are unique to this model and year, so help finding them would be much appreciated I have already spoken about this on one of my other threads, but now I have the car I feel this is the next move
  6. Hi Gareth I think what happened was the owner wanted a "naked" look to the car so took all the trim off. My car is a 1986 Sport so it came with the black rubbing strips as standard This is what the car looked like a couple years ago This is what the car looks like now I have not actually brought it home yet, having only viewed and put the deposit down yesterday. However there is an Audi specialist near me so I might take it to them as a first port of call for trim, they might know where to find them
  7. Thank you Gareth, that isn't offputting at all. The only reference I have is this picture here from a blog post http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_WwvN9CgbwI/UOgtMTv34sI/AAAAAAAAL2Y/s6jL4VxppCU/s1600/image-8.jpeg It does seem to be stuck on, as the doors don't have any of the fixings, the lower sill trim does have holes for plastic fittings, and the sill trim is present too. It is interesting what you said about Audi dealers as I thought support for older models was appalling these days? Many thanks again Ben
  8. Hi Gareth Yes that was the first port of call really once we have it home. Thankfully it has had a cambelt done already and has a K&N airfilter, however I have no idea what state the Oil was in and the gearchange seemed a bit stubborn so that will be a given. Thanks for the advice in regards to the trim, I have never used classic press advertising but might start scouring. In addition I will set up saved searches, only problem is I am not sure what I should call them: Side Trim? Door Trim? Door Mouldings? Rubbing strips? Might as well save them all I suppose🤨 Thank you for your prompt reply 🙂 Ben
  9. I went up to Didcot today to take a look at an Audi 80 Sport (B2) in Oceanic Blue. It needs work, but isn't rusty. Most of the work stems from it running lumpy at warm, and cosmetic issues. However it was good enough, and in a nice colour, so I bought it. Mainly the cosmetic issues centre around the missing pieces of Door Trim: Would anyone know where I can find these? it is missing them completely, so need a full set. I gather they are not interchangeable with the B3? Not sure what the lumpiness is being caused by, but from what I understand these engines are pretty simple... Any help will be much appreciated Many thanks Ben
  10. Thank you Steve, I have yet to get involved with the Facebook group, as my account is only a few days old, is there any other way of interacting with the club?
  11. I have just started using FB (indeed this was the reason I got an account) Is it ok for me to join up?
  12. Hi Jim If it is a 1983 car I would say that is a WR WR was the first 10v, 1980-87 MB is the second 10v, 1987-88 RR is the 20v, 1988-91 Hope this helps!
  13. Good Afternoon all, I am new here 🙂 I have had a long history with 1980s Audis, and by that I mean being introduced to my grandfather's 1986 Audi WR quattro aged 2 is probably to blame for my being here at all today, as a classic enthusiast. Now we still have that car, but while it is a precious heirloom, we aren't afraid use and enjoy it. However, as it is one that is extremely important, and being the only connection to my late grandfather who I never got the chance to meet, I was looking for a stablemate that still has that look and/or sound, but is that bit more useable. Thus, I was wondering if it was still possible to get a 5 cylinder Audi 80/90 saloon for under 5k. Now the models I am after are either the B2 generation 80/90 quattro, Or, as it makes sense from a usability and parts standpoint, I am also interested in the 8v 4cyl 80 quattro or the B2 80 Sport. Now I know that these cars have been fetching fairly strong money as of late, however, I am hoping there will be something around in reach of my budget, around 3.5-5k. In terms of condition I am not massively picky. Basically what I am after is something that is either useable and needs a bit of love or needs mechanical recommissioning, is not rusty (much) and I don't mind if it looks a bit shabby (indeed, I actually like a car with patina). I would prefer something original, but if it has easily reversible mods that's ok. I did go to view one a couple of years ago but that was rotten and needed structural welding. That sort of thing I haven't got the skills or facilities to do, but I have already recommissioned 1988 Volvo 480 that was a non-driver but all there if that helps give an idea of the sort of thing I am after. I am based in Hampshire but would probably be able to travel for the right car, and my budget can probably go to around 4.5k I don't know if I have missed the boat, sincerely hope not as it has been quite stressful watching these go up in price. Maybe I am deluding myself it is still possible (for the B2, I think B3s are still around for this sort of money so I am also on the look out for a B3 90 quattro) While I have been asking round a few places, I hadn't really known much about this place until recently, and it looks like a great community. So if anyone either has something they want to move on, or knows someone who might have what I am looking for please do get in touch. Even if nothing turns up, I still look forward to reading your responses Thank you for your considerations Ben
  14. Good Afternoon All! My name is Ben, I am a dyed in the wool enthusiast for the more unusual classic cars, and have a strong passion for 1980s Audis particularly. This stems from the fact that in 1986, my grandfather Brian bought a WR Quattro new from his local dealership as a retirement present. He absolutely loved the car, so much so that when it was written off in the early 90s (he suffered a mini stroke at the wheel) the car was bought back and completely restored. He passed away in 1998, 4 years before I came on the scene. However, the car remained in the family with my father tending to its needs. Growing up around the car had a formidable effect on me, as only a warbling 5 cylinder and a talking electronic dash could do for a 2 year old. As I have grown I have found my passion for classics and the movement getting stronger and stronger. My first car* is a 1988 Volvo 480ES which I recommissioned from a garage find: Unfortunately, the Quattro isn't in the best of health at the moment. On the way back from Silverstone F1 this year it started misfiring in the traffic and coming back on the motorway was running rich and what sounded like on 4 cylinders. Typically, while the lady in the dash told us there was no washer fluid in the brimmed bottle, she gave us no indication anything else was wrong! We managed to limp home and in spite of new spark plugs and HT leads, we haven't been able to diagnose the problem, and are considering taking it professional. I don't suppose anyone has had any experience with a similar issue? I will probably make a separate post. I was moved to join this club however in my ongoing search for an Audi 80/90 quattro B2 (or a B2 Sport). I know prices are rising but I am really hoping something can be found for under 5k, that isn't rusty (I don't mind mechanical recommissioning or scruffy bodywork). I have been asking around a few places, but to no avail, so I hope I haven't been deluding myself that it is still possible. I am also thinking about a 90/90 quattro B3, but if there is anything out there I would love to be made aware. Again, I will make a separate post in the appropriate place. This looks like a lovely community and I really look forward to interacting more 🙂 Many thanks all Ben
