  1. Hi, I need to fit a new set of discs and pads to my Daughters 2009 Audi A4 B8 Avant and most suppliers list either 314mm or 320 mm as being correct fitment. The car is engine code CAGC with the 2.0tdi 120bhp engine and manual gearbox. Without stripping the car down is anyone able to advise what size is required OR do both sizes fit without any issue? Thanks 👍
  2. Thanks for that. I've had another look and eased the carpet back on the left hand side of the wheel well. Code is there LY7G. 👍😊
  3. Hi, I am trying to find the paint code for my Daughter's 2009 Audi A4 Avant. I fully expected to find the white label on the inside of the spare wheel well but hers is fully carpeted and no sign of any label. I have checked under the bonnet and on the inside of the door jams and still nothing obvious. Any ideas please? Thanks
  4. Thanks Steve, the car is indeed the least powerful in the range at 120 bhp so it may be a possibility. Certainly doesn't look like it's been touched from leaving the factory.👍
  5. Looking under the bonnet on my daughters 2009 A4 Avant TDi 120 there is only the large Radiator fan in the right hand side of the housing ( Standing in front of car ) and there is no smaller A/C fan to the right although the shrouding for the fan is there. Looking at used ones on Ebay most have 2 fans as expected BUT some only have one in exactly the same position as ours. Anyone able to explain why? It seems strange but I don't think anything has been removed or tampered with and identical used ones on Ebay tend to confirm this. Thanks Darryl
  6. No, afraid not. I now know that It simply means optional on that model year. This car fortunately does not have it fitted at all. Why on earth Audi chose to label the car this way makes no sense. 👍
  7. David, my daughter recently bought a 2009 A4 Avant 2.0 tdi se. On hers all doors would lock with the fob but when unlocking the two front doors remained locked and had to be opened from the inside. Once opened the two front doors could be opened and closed normally but once locked with the fob they would not reopen apart from using the inside handle. I subsequently found that this is an incredibly common issue with Audi and can affect all doors. It is possible to repair the door lock but I bought two brand new replacements ( probably Chinese ) from Ebay for £54 and installed them. They were a direct replacement and worked first time. I will post a youtube video that I found useful. One last point, in order to remove the door lock assembly you need the correct 12 spline tool. A Torx will chew the nut up as it is the wrong tool. Regards Darryl
  8. Thanks , on this car the actual housing is all alloy so I'm thinking that a new oil cooler and housing gasket should ensure that it gets cured. The only part that I seem to be struggling to find is the very bottom O ring seal that fits inside the groove on the bottom plastic cap pictured. 👍
  9. I'm now pretty certain that the leak is coming from the oil cooler attached to the filter housing. Seems to be quite a common issue.
  10. Hi, I changed the oil and filter today on my daughter's 2009 Audi A4 Avant 2.0tdi ( CAGC engine code ) and whilst underneath noticed a bit of oil in the immediate area around what almost looks like an oil filter housing cap. The photo is taken from underneath looking upwards into the engine bay and the item is in exactly the same area as the oil filter housing. It seems strange having what is clearly a removable cap here but I'm at a loss as to what it likely to be. Can anyone help and is there a serviceable item underneath this cap. I suspect that the very slight oil leak may in fact be coming from this black cap seal. Thanks Darryl
  11. Thanks very much, really appreciated. 👍
  12. Brilliant, can you give me the approximate cost and possibly a part number? Were these from Audi or aftermarket? Thanks , Darryl
  13. Hi, my daughter recently bought a 2009 Audi A4 Avant and it has the beginnings of the all too common corrosion on the bottom of the front wings. I'm led to believe that an additional piece of plastic trim was introduced on later models and this fits over the bottom few inches of the leading edge section of the front wings and offers protection against rust forming through chips etc. Ideally i would like to get a pair of these if they are not horrendously expensive and fit them once i've properly dealt with the corrosion that is already there. Is anyone aware of these trims and more to the point is anyone able to provide a part number? It seems incredible that this is such a common issue on these cars when they are supposed to be a premium brand.........😒 Thanks in advance Darryl
  14. Agreed.👍
  15. I wouldn't be at all surprised if you are correct Steve. 👍
  16. Thanks Steve and I totally agree in all respects but there are plenty advertised with that very phrase phrase in the Initial vehicle description which is why I'm curious.. For example, ( See Below )this is a straight lift from an HPi check on a car that I like and it's almost like it's a specific model? Why would they be advertised with an option in the title or more to the point listed on an HPi report like that. Very strange but it looks like most other people aren't sure as well. I can honestly say that I detest Start stop so if it;s fitted it will be getting knocked off each time. Thanks for the replies so far though anyway .👍 Vehicle Details ManufacturerAudi ModelA4 Avant Se Tdi Model Detail Tdi 120 Opt Start/Stop ColourGrey Vehicle TypeCar Body StyleEstate Fuel TypeDiesel Engine Size1968 cc Euro Status4 ULEZ CompliantCheck ULEZ status BHP118 BHP
  17. Thanks for the crossword clue. Does OPT stand for option or are you actually as baffled as me but needed to reply?. Why would any Manufacturer use OPT on a cars official model title to indicate that something as inconsequential as Stop Start is an option? Now if it had said Indicators I would have understood.
  18. Hi, looking at some Audi A4's it describes them as OPT STOP START. I'm aware of what stop start facility is but what does the word OPT mean in this instance. Thanks
  19. Hi, I'm new to VAG products my last Audi being back back in the late eighties. I am in the process of purchasing a 2009 Audi A4 tdi 120 which looks very well and drives perfectly. My query is re the emissions fix following the scandal. I have read all of the tales of woe from disgruntled customers and don't doubt them for a second. My question is that bearing in mind probably the vast majority of those that were affected would have just gone along with the directive to bring their vehicle in for the "FIX" , has this adversely affected every vehicle concerned or are there people out there who have had no issues as such. Trying to find one now that has not had the fix applied must be difficult. I've also read that some companies are offering a " Fix" reversal? Again has anyone been down this route and if so what was the cost and the end result. I'm not interested in remaps, DPF or EGR deletes, just a standard vehicle that works reliably as it should. Thanks.👍
