if you open the bonnet there is a large black plastic panel nearest the windscreen the covers from the windscreen to the bulkhead, you will need to remove this.
When this is removed you will see the ECU and the back of the clutch master cylinder too in the same area (drivers side)
has anybody ever experienced this:
When not used the car in a number of hours i get to the car ignition on and press the start button and all you can here is a small click of the relay under the steering column. Ive you hold down on the start button you will hear a second click of the relay too but the car wont turn over.
No matter how many times you press the button or how long you press it nothing happens apart from that relay clicking.
If you go off for 5-6 minutes and come back to the car and try start it then it will 99% of the time turn over and start as normal.
Before i go buying a new starter motor or battery i wanted to put it out there in-case somebody else came across this issue, my gut is telling me its one of them
this issue ended up to be a failed clutch slave cylinder leaking inside the gearbox, gearbox off, clean like hell and clean some more and replace the part. sadly it would be ver hard to inspect this issue with the gearbox on 😕
defiantly a Nox sensor issue, that car cant talk to the sensor for whatever reason
The easy one is check the sensor is not dead after that you looking at checking the wiring unfortunately which is a right pain
wouldn't say that's the master cylinder at all going by being able to start on a rolling start
two questions?
1. Have you any fault codes with VCDS or ODIS (or any reputable diagnostics scanner)
2. Next time you go to first start the car in the morning can you attach a jumper pack or jump leads and try a cold start to see if the problem remains?
I ask the above as question 1 would tell you if you had a master cylinder sensor fault or a starter motor circuit fault and question 2 is more of a hunch.... Ive seen on 2 Audi's now when the battery is getting tired everything looks OK but theirs not enough kick in the battery to start her when shes cold especially with the cold snap of December/January weather
