  1. Hi Guys, I have read that others have had a similar issue with their A4 TDI Avant S Tronic hesitating when pulling away from a junction or joining a roundabout etc. Has anyone ever had it fixed? I have this issue and it is currently with Audi Poole for them to look at it. I have had this Approved Used, 43k mileage car a month now and they know I will reject it if they don't fix it. I like the car and just want it fixed.
  2. Sorted. Age thing. it was just charging up.
  3. Hi Guys, Just wired in a Nextbase dash cam into my Avant. I piggy backed it on to the sockets fuse, like I have done with other cars but this is the first time that the blue light on the dash cam has stayed on when I turn the engine off. I don't want to flatten the battery when I go on holiday etc so I have removed it for now. Any clues what this old guy is doing wrong?
  4. Stevey/Mark: Thanks for your replies but it seems like we were all out of touch with the latest complicated invention in the Audi world. We live and learn.
  5. Hi Jason, Thank you very much for this. I really found it hard to believe and was prepared to do battle with the dealership over it. Every day is a school day........
  6. Hi Guys, I have swapped my 2017 A4 Avant for a 2021 Q3 and after driving from the dealership in light rain, my headlights steamed up. The dealership says that this is mentioned in the handbook and perfectly normal. They never mention this at the time of sale or I would not have entertained it. The sales guy said that there is a fan in the headlights that will clear it quickly but it cleared next morning. Is this normal or even acceptable? Never seen or heard of such a thing in my 50 years of car ownership. I asked about swapping the car for something else but they haven't even responded in a week to 2 emails.
  7. Thanks guys. I already have piggy backs but no tracker yet. I will give this more thought as the Trutrak was recommended and looked a decent price and easy to fit. They even do one via the OBD port but that is too obvious a place to put it. I will have a re-think and consider different modes to see what is best for me. Thanks again. Regards Gordon McKay
  8. Ta. That would be where I will look first. I guess I am old school and used to working on cars when electronic ignition was the latest thing and the thought of messing it up due to the sensitive nature of 2017 Audi electronics is holding me back a bit. Thanks again for the heads up.
  9. Thanks. I did think of that source too but I would prefer the fusebox route if it is easy. These cars are so sensitive nowadays that I didn't want to chuff it up.
  10. Hi guys, Question time again...... I was thinking of fitting a tracker to my car (Trutrak) and have a few questions regarding this: Has anyone here fitted one? If so, any problems? Does disconnecting and reconnecting the battery cause any problems? ECU reset etc. Where can I find a permanently live feed with easy access? I was thinking about making the cigarette lighter live and using the feed from that. Grateful for any info.
  11. It certainly helped me thanks to you guys on this forum. I haven't had to fit a sensor yet but I bought one to keep in the car in case the dreaded warning comes up.
  12. No warnings since I bought it. It has been to Audi and they didn't find anything wrong (of course they didn't), but they did change the battery. They are now aware that I mentioned that there was something wrong and it is documented. Can't do much else if nothing is shown to be wrong. Until the next time....... I might just change the sensor myself now as a preventative measure.
  13. Just thought I would mention that I have just under 2 year Audi warranty left so hopefully that would cover any bill. I have just done another 500+ miles in it and the pedal still is hard to press now and then. I bought my sensor at the german parts for sale on EBay for 19.99. Next day delivery. Made me feel a bit more confident in the car.
  14. My brake servo problem still exists yet no message but I can start it by pressing harder on the brake pedal - yes, that's what Audi said - so I have just bought a sensor in case I get the dreaded message ...... Being such a common problem, you would think that a hi-tech car manufacturer with "quality" products would have eradicated this issue by now.
  15. Hi Gareth, I understand your views on this and normally I would tell Audi where to go but I am used to pressing a bit harder on the brake pedal to start it. It actually does start ok since the battery was changed so I will soldier on. Audi have acknowledge that I have had problems with it and offered to take it back now for a complete refund or later (for a reduced rate). I am fine with that for now. If it really chuffs me off, I will get rid, Meanwhile I will crack on.
  16. I still have the car....... The technician's report says I wasn't pressing the brake pedal hard enough. Total rubbish! ?I have been driving automatics since before he came off the tit, including 2 Shoguns, RAV4 and even another Audi, and none of these had that problem. What do I know? Audi have given me 2 years warranty so that should be enough time for something to break. Meantime I will get out on the road and enjoy it. Maybe.......
  17. Tried to start it today - brake pedal rock hard - no warnings on the dash - no solenoid noise - no start. Tried again, same result. Next time I tried, I gave the brake pedal more pressure and it fired up. When I turned it off a few seconds later, I lifted the bonnet and could hear a noise like some sort of electronic buzz for 20 seconds or so behind the radiator in the region of the vacuum pump. I recorded it for the tech to hear when I take it back in just in case they think I am making it up. Dealership called me yesterday and offered to "unwind the deal" - trendy jargon for refunding my cash. Been looking for something as smooth/powerful etc for around £25k but not much I fancy so I asked them to try and fix the car next week. If not, I am no longer an Audi owner.....
  18. Steve, No more about recalls. I have been looking for similar posts to mine i.e. a problem without a code. I have read the "Brake Servo Restricted" post which is in the area of the fault on my car. Everyone gets a code on the dash which makes me think that maybe I should change the sensor as a matter of prevention, potentially saving me grief. If it wasn't for the fact that I really like my car, I would take it back to Poole Audi where I bought it from.
  19. I feel the same way. They think you know chuff all about cars but I let him think that. I removed the sensor and refitted it but no change. It could be a hose clamp or a small split, maybe even the vacuum pump. I get the feeling that there is an Audi TPI on the subject but the cost to repair is too much under warranty. There are many here who have similar problems which is expensive in some cases. I think it should be a recall but.....
  20. No codes on my OBD. Bought for cash but they are going to have another look. They said In could have my money back but I like it and would prefer it to be fixed. The tech said that there is a vacuum leak but they couldn't find it apparently. I was told to press harder on the brake pedal or use my left foot. Smell the BS? I will update this next week after they have the car in. Again.....
  21. Hi Gareth, Thanks, not a bad idea. I will ask them about that; it is under Audi warranty so maybe the fix is too expensive for them to do so they are trying to fob me off. As I said before, it seems like there is a vacuum leak but they say they couldn't find a leak. I wouldn't be surprised if it was somewhere near the pump which would require the whole front end off to check/change. I put my OBD reader on it but no codes shown. I have also told them it is coming back if it is not fixed this week so the onus is on them to act. Regards Gordon
  22. Gareth, Thanks for getting back to me. Regards Gordon
  23. Hi Gareth, Only had it a couple of weeks and I have already told them that, if it continues, they can have it back. I do like what it does though when it goes. Problem sounds simple enough: brake pedal is hard in the morning when the car is left overnight. I think there is a leak in the system somewhere but they couldn't find it apparently. I can't be the only one that has had this problem.
  24. Hi Guys, Some start to my recent Audi ownership. Bought a 2017 A4 Avant 3l Quattro from the local dealership. Loved what it did but after 3 days of sitting in the garage, it wouldn't start. Battery issue, later replaced by Audi. The real problem came when I was about to set off to the Midlands and it would not start - no warning lights, nothing. I went through the starting process 3 times and eventually it started so the journey began. It did this twice more over the next couple of day so I took it back to Audi. They checked it out - no codes, no faults (apparently) but I was told that the vacuum reduces but there weren't any leaks. The tech said that I had to press the brake harder or use my left foot on the brake to start it. Really? He said he checked the readings against a similar car and they were the same. I can't print my opinion but this is not right. Anyone heard of this or had the same issue?
  25. Hi All, Joined the club the other day but forgot to say "Hello". Great start:-). Anyway, I have recently bought my 3rd Audi; the first was an A6 1.9TDI saloon back in 2007, then a TT in 2012 and now an A4 3l TDI Avant Quattro. I don't know enough to contribute yet but it is good to know that there are people in the Forum that I can ask should I have any problems with the car.
