  1. How can that possibly be allowed though? For two reasons: 1. Misrepresentation - if you are selling a vehicle and the photo is not the vehicle you possess, surely that can't be allowed? 2. Copyright theft - the photo belongs to whoever took the photograph and or the dealer selling the vehicle. If you are straight up copying the photographs from another advert to promote your own surely that is stealing?
  2. Hi, I have been looking for an S5 and I saw one I liked on the below advert: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202409204271770 However I have been back on AutoTrader today and this advert has popped up: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202410295714734 This appears to be the exact same car, but being sold by a different dealer with a higher price and the mileage has changed? What is going on here?
  3. Ah ok yes that seems a bit expensive!😬 Thank you for your help.
  4. Hi, hopefully someone may have done this before, but does anyone know how expensive it is to retrofit the virtual cockpit in an S5? Thanks!
  5. I have seen a few that I have been interested in but they always seem to be sold by the time I enquire, even if the adverts are barely a day old. Which makes me wonder a lot of the time if dealers really have these cars "for sale" or if they even exist. Sometimes I think they create fake adverts to generate lines of enquiry, tell you that vehicle is sold then they will try and sell you something that is real but they have had trouble shifting. I have thought about buying on finance myself but it's just so expensive when compared to leasing a brand new vehicle. It costs me more a month to buy a £25,000 car on finance than it would to lease a brand new £60,000+ car. I am not sure why GDPR would come into it; if you are purchasing something knowing that the person selling that thing has legal ownership of it would be classed as "relevant" and "adequate" information. Making that information transparent is a matter of legality and preventing unscrupulous people from commiting fraud. I work in data and have done for the past 10 years, so I have a pretty good understanding of GDPR.
  6. Hi Gareth, yes a few years ago I bought an E92 M3 from a Sytner dealership. When I did some checks afterwards there were some mileage discrepancies, which were apparently because the vehicle was taken in and out of this country several times over the course of its life. Forgive my caution but I will not be making the same mistake again.
  7. Hi Gareth, I am intending on buying from a dealer. Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't believe the V5 document is proof of ownership? That document shows who the registered keeper is.
  8. Well that's the problem, I am not sure who I am buying from if I don't know who owns the vehicle if it has outstanding finance. Whenever I find a vehicle I am interested in I do a HPI check first so I don't waste my time if there is something that doesn't seem legitimate.
  9. Hi all, I hope someone might be able to help me with this. I am looking at buying a used Audi and a lot of cars have outstanding finance. I have been doing some HPI checks on them but it doesn't tell you who the owner is; it tells you who the finance is with but not who actually owns the vehicle. Does anyone know if there is anyway to find this information out? I don't want to buy a car not knowing who the actual owner is if it has outstanding finance. Thanks!
  10. Hi Steve, ah ok! I have had a look at a few but I am a bit confused! Some videos refer to the virtual cockpit but they seem to imply it is a standard item; but is this not the case? Thanks!
  11. Hi Steve, sorry not sure what you mean? Do you mean of cars that are for sale that you can see inside? Thanks!
  12. Hi, I am looking to replace my old car for an S5, but I don't really know anything about Audi's. I am looking for a 2017 car specifically so I can avoid the high tax for cars registered before the 1st of March 2017, and so I can avoid the excess tax you have to pay on cars that were £40,000 or more at list price. I had seen a blue one at Sytners in Nottingham but when I called up it had been sold a few days earlier (that old chestnut!). My main concern is about options; I have been stung before when buying from dealerships and I don't want it to happen again. What options should I be looking for when buying? Thanks!
