  1. I'd say you're right. I've looked up up online. When I get back I'll go through the motions and if need be I'll get it. I'll let you know how I get on 👍🏻
  2. Sorry for the late reply. Cheers for the help chaps. I will admit I've gone down the temp repair road and for now it's holding. I've done several hundred miles so far with barely a weap. So with that in mind, and as it'll soon be due, I'm going for a more permanent repair with the next oil change. That's going to be retapping to the next size up. I've got the kit for it. Watch this space...
  3. It could well be Steve. Something else I'll need to test when I get home. If it is I'll nab an aftermarket unit online. Though replacing the while fan unit itself looks straight forward, should it get to that. I guess it'll be down to what's cheaper.
  4. Hi all. Just a quick query here (see attached pic). Fault codes coming up for the radiator fan on my 2009 2.0 TDI. P95000 difficulty of movement P069100 Control circuit low I've checked the physical movement of the fan with my finger and the power off (single electric fan unit with a PCM) and the fan spins fine. I thought the bonnet latch cable may have been catching the slats as the retaining clip above the fan is burst, so I've secured it back out of the way just in case. As for the control circuit error, I'm of the understanding that's a low/no voltage? The car isn't over heating, its never overheated. I'd recently put a new thermostat in it as that was sticking. Actually drove it 650 miles on a warm day and it was as good as gold. No dash warning lights. No steam. Temp gauge was rock solid. Had I not plugged the scanner in I'd have never known there was even an issue. 🤷‍♂️ I haven't checked the fuse yet as I'm away at work for another week so that'll be something else to inspect when I go on leave. Just looking for any other suggestions on the subject, short of a new fan that is, should it not be a fuse. Cheers.
  5. Cheers for that Steve. I'm not sure if there's a mobile thread repair bunch where I am in Falkirk but I'll have a look.
  6. Cheers for the advice. I'm thinking of maybe retapping it in the first instance, if there's a chance of repairing it.
  7. Hi all. On doing an oil change on a recently bought 2009 A6 2.0 TDI, I found the thread on the sump drain hole has stripped. I've replaced the plug to no avail. It screws in fine but won't completely seal, so there's a very slight leak. Any suggestions as to a fix? Self tapping plug that's a size up? Or will I have to go down the helicoil route? Many thanks.
  8. RoyC thanks very much, that'll be a big help. 👍🏻
  9. Morning all. I've recently bought a workhorse A6 Avant C6. (59 plate). The TDI 2.0e It's a good old bus but I've a couple bits needing changed so currently hunting down the correct parts. It's needing a thermostat. The unit on the car is part number 03L121111N. I'm wondering what the difference is, if any, between that and the 03L121111AD unit as the latter is easier to get and they both look identical. Also there looks like a little o-ring is needed to. Next is my gummed up EGR valve. I'll clean it but it looks like its leaked a bit. I ordered new gaskets off ebay but I'm if there's a recommended site online that everyone uses to source spares. Blow apart diagrams would be handy too, I've got that for a wee Suzuki I own and it's been a god send for sourcing the correct parts. Sorry for the questions and thanks in advance for the advice.
