A3 convertible cuts out then won't start

Yeah checked with diagnostic no fault found apart from passenger door lock! -
59 plate a3 convertible 2l diesel driving down road starts holding back then cuts out after which it won't start just turns over not firing just spinning over anyone got any ideas
