  1. Audi 80, 210K+ on the odometer, regularly serviced and doesn't miss a beat. I bought this car some years ago for the princely sum of £500 and have not regretted it at all. It's my 'daily drive' and I have treated it (her... am I allowed to be gender specific..?) to several new parts to improve performance and driveability over the years and she is now what the youngsters call a 'Street-Sleeper' or 'Q car'. But like so many others before me, I love the solid feel, willing 1781c.c. motor and the simplicity of maintenance. With the knowledge of VAG behind me, I know that spares will be (relatively) straight forward to get and some part are interchangeable between models. There's always loads of folks on the inter-web that carry GOOD QUALITY spare parts, and that keep my 80 on the road. 23 years old and not a spot of corrosion...... Love her to bits... (sounds like an ideal wife...!) RickS
  2. Hi all, I was wondering if there was any forum knowledge on whether any precautions need to be taken regarding the use of E10 when it becomes necessary to do so, particularly on my '91 80.? I have had it on pretty good authority that most models should be OK, with the exception on some First Gen A2, A3 and A4 models. Does this ring true, or should I be looking for replacement fuel lines, tank, seals etc. as this Ethanol stuff appears to be pretty aggressive. Any advice would be most welcome. Best regards and thanks, Rick PS, Apologies but I also post this as a new topic before I realised that there was a place for us 'novices' to this forum..!
  3. Good morning ladies and gents, Newbie to this forum but have been an '80' owner for some years now and see no reason to change! My question to you all is pretty straight forward and although I searched for an answer in this forum already, I didn't find an answer..... Is my 1991 Audi 80 fuel system compatible with E10 when it becomes compulsory..? I have it on pretty good authority that all Audi models, apart from some A2, A3 and A4 first gen DI engines, are. I would just like some confirmation really and if needs be, get ready for some searching for replacement parts. The old girl has crossed the 200k mileage barrier and doesn't seem to be wanting the throw in the towel just yet..! Best regards and thanks for any info that you can pass on, RickS
