  1. To be fair, I can't directly compare petrol with diesel anyway.. a good point though it's not like the old automatics....
  2. I'm getting around 25-30 with town/short journey driving, 40-45 ish on the motorway. TFSI 40 A4 Avant. Thirstier than my previous B8 TDI 2.0 A4 Saloon but it's also automatic which the old car wasn't.
  3. Try connecting via the usb-c connector near the handbrake (under the cover), I use that with my iphone and always charges and works OK. Not tried using that USB connector myself by the 12v socket under the dashboard area, it might be that is more suited to USB storage as opposed to for charging. As you've an Android phone it might be that its expecting a QC/fast charge port and that may just be a more regular USB port with 5v 2.4A output.
  4. Ah thats good to hear, I didn't realise it could fit. Do you have a link you could post to the spare wheel? I really don't like not having a spare tyre and having to rely on gunk..
  5. Great, sounds similar to the one I had on my B8 A4, which helped prevent over-tightening. Cheers for the info, I'll get a pair of those bits in the future so can use the roof bars and carriers again...
  6. Ah thats good to hear, so the same items as I was suggested then. Do they have rubber/soft fittings on the feet to attach to the bars out of interest as I'm worried about scratching my black bars? I found the manual here https://www.roofracks.co.uk/pdfs_products/5998_61d98495fcdc61f7c5a8061d6a37c7a3.pdf which shows the mechanism/clips.
  7. No worries, if you have the thule system you can at least use on other cars (with suitable mounting kits/feet) rather than having something bespoke in terms of the bars - do the audi ones have to have specific bike carriers as part of that setup then? I am a bit concerned about any might scratch my bars (as they are black) but think they have rubber bits on them, probably similar with the Audi ones.
  8. I've some Thule aero bars from my previous A4 2010 B8 and two Thule bike rack things and did look into getting mounting kit thing for my A4 Avant B9, one company I contacted suggested this for my situation https://www.roofracks.co.uk/kit/p/5998 and https://www.roofracks.co.uk/evo-flush-rail-4-pack/p/5981 I've not gone ahead and bought yet though so can't comment on the fit but there is a video here showing the fitting which might help you
  9. Thanks really useful posts, however I've A4 Avant with the B&O sound system with a subwoofer in the boot and doesn't look like this is an option for me. Have gone with a 3rd party inflator in addition to the one which came with car which is meant not to ruin the tyre/valve when using... not had a flat so far... Annoying though as you can't always inflate with the gloop... would be interested to hear if anyone has managed that and what tyre was used.
  10. I think it was £350 ish but prices seem variable with them, and that was nearly 10 years ago! Of course other companies also offer remap services. Difficult to say exactly how much more economical but it definitely drove a lot better, the car felt underpowered and not very responsive until it was done. When I had the map taken off before selling the car it felt totally different.
  11. Had a remap done on my B8 A4 143 PS TDI 2.0 which made a massive difference to how it drove, a lot more torque and more responsive, slightly better fuel economy although tended to drive it harder and drove a lot of motorway miles in it. Remapped once it was out of warranty and notified the insurance company as you must. Removed before I sold the car back to stock. I used Superchips although other companies offer a similar service. Not bothering on my new TFSI 40 though as that is powerful enough for front wheel drive.
  12. Thanks Reggie23, was going to ask a similar question as have just got a 2021 A4 TFSI Avant, and looking into options for future Servicing, doesn't really sound worth it then if low mileage.
  13. I spoke to a Ross tech dealer today who told me the VAG SFD unlocking isn’t quite operational yet with VCDS and their servers but would be later this year, so I think you can’t yet do those protected operations quite yet.
  14. Thanks. I’ll look to buy one then, and sell the older one. Seems as they aren’t limited and discontinued fetching a fair price.
  15. Apologies for duplicate post, I also posted on the A5 forum in response to some VCDS queries. Quick question re VCDS and a 2021 A4 B9 I'm shortly hopefully to buy - I've the older Vagcom USB interface HEX-USB+CAN shown here I've used on my B8 A4 fine, but understand this software may have very limited functionality (when used with the newer compatible cable) or no longer work on the newer 2021 B9's and other more recent Audis and other VAG cars. Does anyone know if this is definitely the case, as I read online here (via a google search) that they are locking out these kinds of modifications and diagnostics, and being they are now providing some paid for features you can unlock via their mobile app etc. Will try the existing older cable I have when I change the car, but curious to hear anyone's experiences to date, as well as what is actually possible to do (or not) with the newer cars, reading/resetting diagnostic codes as well as any modifications being possible anymore? Is it a case of VAGCOM no longer being usable by these newer cars, as was considering selling the existing cable and getting the newer USB V2 one potentially. Cheers!
