  1. For demo purposes I disconnected one sensor. This results in no display on the MMI, flashing parking sensor button and no functionality. So, pop the car in R, the parking sensor button will flash, there will be no display, go round the car and listen. Use your phone if your struggling to hear anything, it shows up better on a recording. I’ve done a billy basic video. Don’t judge. 😄 IMG_2012.MOV
  2. Have you got a start/stop ignition button? If so, your car should have keyless entry. Mine had the button, but the button did nowt and the keyless entry didn’t work. All the door handle sensors were water damaged. Replaced them all and now keyless entry and ignition work. If you don’t have a start/stop button then I imagine it could be a bit of a faff to put in. It’s only a 2 min job to remove your door handle and look to see if there is there is a sensor in there and see if there is a connection to the wiring harness. Could be worth a try. Was only £35 for 4 sensors off of eBay.
  3. Hi. I had the same on my Q5, the fault was an ABS sensor and replacing the sensor fixed it, but apparently a worn wheel bearing could cause the same fault with ABS, might be worth checking to see if yours is worn.
  4. Cheers Steve. That’s pretty much what I’d thought. Looks like the chains are all on the back of the engine. Would have been nice if they were on the front. Much easier and prob do it myself. But I will get some quotes and see. 👍
  5. Hi all, My Q5 3.0 V6 has 180k on it now. Looking at replacing the timing chains and tensioners. Anyone know if it is an engine out job? And how much it might cost to get it done?
  6. You don’t need to get a diagnostic. You can find the faulty sensor by putting the car in reverse. The car will activate the sensors. Go round each sensor on the car and put your ear to them. The good ones will make a clicking sound. The bad ones won’t. Recently did this on my Q5 and found 2 dead sensors. Replaced, and all worked spot on from then. There is a YouTube video out there that explains in more detail. But that’s the general gist.
  7. I buy from Amazon, so I get quicker delivery and it’s easier for returns etc. Haven’t bought from eBay in years. I’ll check car parts in motion. 👍
  8. Hi Gareth. These are what I’m looking at. HouYeen Rear Left and Right ABS Wheel Speed Sensor for A3 8P TT 8J Altea XL Toledo Mk3 Octavia Superb Mk2 Golf Mk6 Mk5 1K0927807 1K0927808 https://amzn.eu/d/0amZ6NE They look like the one I’ve removed (admittedly there wasn’t much of it left by the time it came out) and looks the same as other images I’ve found. But unsure whether they could be different inside even if they are the same outside? I’ll have a look at Febi now. See if I can figure it out. Cheers.
  9. Hi all. Which ABS sensors are the correct ones for the Q5 3.0 V6 2008? I’ve seen a few that look identical and have various different part numbers, fitting various different makes and models. Just need to know if there’s any differences to look out for with these or a specific part number to get. Cheers.
