  1. Not tried seriously yet, Steve.
  2. Thanks Steve, I did a MMI reset and we'll see if that fixes it.
  3. First long journey for a while in my 2012 A6 S-Line 3.0TDI Avant, which I've owned for 9 years. Strange happenings on my satnav. Have established a route from Norfolk back to Kent, it worked fine for the first hour or so then started wanting to divert me all over the place because of 'road closures' that simply did not exist. My wife had Waze going on her phone beside me to reassure us there were actually no problems at all en route. The map showed where we were, no problem with that, it just wanted us to go anywhere but the direct plotted route. In the end when I had finished the first section of the journey and knew the way home from there, I cancelled the set route. It was as though the satnav suddeny started reading loads of historic data about closures. I presume the Highways traffic system wasn't transmitting all this nonsense! Anyone seen anything like this? Is there perhaps a 'reset' option that will clean up the Nav system back to factory defaults? While I'm on, does anyone happen to know of an Ebay seller who can supply a map update for this car? I tried a few a while ago but none of them could do it.
  4. No idea why first name. Except it's actually Richard and I probably put in its common abbreviation! Point about main dealers most definitely taken. Normally never go near the place.
  5. Good enough for me, Steve Q, thank you!!
  6. I have a 2012 A6 Avant SE 3.0Tdi. Lovely car, only 75K miles. Mid-40's mpg on average and 50+ on a long trip. I visited my Audi dealership recently (first time in years) with a query about Bluetooth. They told me there's a recall on this car, '23Z2', re emissions, presumably to do with the VW emissions scam. I've looked in the 'recalls' section on this website but there's no mention of A6's or this '23Z2' recall. Anyone had it done? I'm very wary of having it done in case it screws up what is a very nice car indeed.
  7. Thanks Steve, I'll have a go at it later this week.
  8. Hi Steve, yes, thanks for responding, I've tried that, makes no difference. The thing worked perfectly for years before this!
  9. I've posted before on here about the location of the Bluetooth electrical module on my 2012 A6 Avant. Bluetooth won't connect to any phone, problem appeared during the first long lockdown when the car didn't go anywhere for about 2 months. The MMI software for Bluetooth control appears to be OK, the set-up questions all run through OK but it simply won't connect, to either an iOS or an Android phone. I'm told that the module is under the left-hand side floor somewhere but I don't know where. I did have a grovel beneath the passenger seat today and found a wiring compartment sunk into the floor beneath a plastic cover. The photo below shows it, there doesn't seem to be anything much there apart from some connectors. The same is present beneath the driver's seat. I'm not looking at the Bluetooth kit, am I? (Apologies for the grubby carpet!). If the Bluetooth module is elsewhere beneath the passenger floor, does anyone know how to get under the carpet? Along the door side of the carpet, it looks to be pinned down by the plastic trim, is that trim held in on clips and will it readily pop out if I lever it? I realise the seat needs to come out first, that looks easy enough.
  10. Bumping this up to the top in the faint hope that someone knows the answer?
  11. Quick question.... 2012 A6 S-Line Avant 3.0 TDi.....does anyone know, please, where under the floor I would find the Bluetooth module? I'm told it's 'under the floor' but it would help if I knew where to look! Suspect problem with the BT aerial. I assume it's in the same location as the module?!
  12. As a follow-up to this query - The car went into our local Audi independant specialst last week for its MOT and I asked them to take a quick look at this problem. They reckoned it's a problem in the module that houses the aerial, which they said is beneath the floor and hard to get at. Does anyone know where? I took a quick look and found a small compartment beneath the driver's seat (RHD) but it only appears to contain connectors for the seat electrics. All looked OK in it too.
  13. I have a 2012 A6 Avant S-Line 3.0TDi, lovely car, only 68K miles, I've owned it since 2013. Up to now, the only thing I've ever had to replace was the rear wiper motor. I use hands free quite a lot, and last week, out of the blue, it stopped working. Having established that my phone works OK in wifey's car, I deleted all phone data from the Audi, and started again. But it will not detect my iPhone, nor any other iPhone, nor an Android phone. In the menus, it looks like Bluetooth thinks it's all working. So, what next? Sounds like it's the component that sends/receives the Bluetooth signal that has failed. Any ideas where it is please? Or whether it's feasible to replace it or get it replaced? Afterthought........I suppose it couldn't have its own fuse could it? Everything else appears to work............
  14. OK, so I found it's easy to hide the cable along the windscreen top edge and down the pillar to the passenger-side fusebox at the end of the panel assembly. Following a Youtube video for the C7, i found that my car has exactly the same fusebox layout as shown in the video, and so I did what this guy did and connected into the same socket which is the climate control line. BUT it was always live, as were all the fuses in the top row. Found several postions in the lower row of fuses that were ignition-switched, so problem solved. It seems they kept changing fuse assignments on these cars. Some online advice says that none of the fuses on the pax side are switched. I found instructions on another forum saying use a particular fuse on the same pax-side row I used, yet on my car that fuse was not switched. Anyway, sussed it.
  15. Hi all, Had a look through old threads but haven't found an answer to this one. I have a 2012 S-Line Avant 3.0 Tdi. I've just bought a Nextbase dashcam and would very much like NOT to have a trailing wire going all the way to the power socket in the armrest. The obvious thing to do looks to be getting power from the roof-mounted electronics panel because it's right there. But how do you get into it? And is there an obvious live feed inside that I can tap into? The alternative I guess is to tuck the cable away under the windscren seal and run it to a fusebox. I understand from other threads that these are behind the panels at each end of the dashboard. It's just that the centre panel in the roof looks to be the better place. Any help / advice gratefully received!
  16. Thanks for that, I'll give them a try.
  17. Having had this car for 6 years and recently decided to keep it 'for ever' I would quite like to get the satnav maps updated. Not wanting to buy it from a dealer (costs almost as much as the car is worth), can anyone point me to a reliable other source of map updates please? This car has the data on a SD card. iI've had a look on Ebay and ended up uncertain of the correct choice.
  18. Good advice, thanks. Suffered the same problem with my 2012 A6 Avant. Did as you suggested (getting the trim off was the hardest part - 4 screws to remove before springing off the clips), the motor looked in my the same state. Cleaned it all out and re-greased it. Couldn't really see how the water connection on the back plate could fail to leak inside - anyway I put loads of grease around the end of the spindle there so perhaps that will help. Delighted that it seems to work normally now - saved a bundle of money. Incidentally there seem to be a lot of new motors available online for £35-£40, fitting many Audi models but not the A6 from 2012 onwards. The units in the photos look exactly the same as mine.
  19. Hi all, new on here so be gentle. I have a 2012 A6 3.0 TDI Avant S-Line. Still has the original tyres, Pirelli P Zero 245/45R18 100Y. The front 2 were well worn when I bought the car and I swapped them to the back. However, one year on, at 25K miles, they are coming up for replacement, fronts have another 8K miles to go probably. New ones would go on the back, as recommended, then swap to the front when the front Pirellis are shot, and I would then look to buy another pair to match those I'm buying this time to complete the set. Been looking online. I like the idea of quiet tyres. Don't like the idea of spending very silly money. Likely options at the moment, apart from the easy option of more Pirellis (£142 each on Asda today), look like either Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2, Goodyear Efficientgrip A0, or Dunlop Sportmaxx RT, all around £150 each. Not asking anyone to research for me, of course, but interested in any good/bad comments about any of these, or indeed any recommended alternatives. Many thanks. PS not buying winter tyres - got an alternative car for the snow!
