  1. This is down to a leaking sump plug which I've opened up a new topic about, the sump plug hole has 2 indentations that I've been told shouldn't be there so been quoted a new sump bottom pan, but on research it looks like all it needs is some sort of crush plug. Any ideas anyone?? Thanks for your input gents.
  2. I'm not convinced they've added the right amount of oil, it reads ⅔ but then a little bit more a few mins later when settled, I wish they kept the dipstick option instead of complicating things. I'm gonna do it again tomorrow and see where it's at and I'm very tempted to add a little more to see if it goes up, I think I'd have to drop the oil to change a new sensor by the looks of it.
  3. My car went in for a service last week obviously had an oil change, but since I've got it back it's been reading my oil is ¾ full, over the last 12 months its read full from the last service. I've taken it back to the garage and the mechanic says he's 100% put 6.9L like it takes so doesn't want to put more in suggesting it might be a faulty sensor as there isn't a leak. Anyone had any experience of this? It's a 3.0 tdi
  4. An late update on this problem... it was a pulley that had the grease flushed out of the bearings by the puddle water, pulley replaced and 2 months down the line I've had no further issues. I'm very lucky in the outcome of this, lesson to take away from this was don't drive through a puddle because it could be a lake 😀
  5. My engine management light comes on and the code reader tool says egr problem, I've messaged a few garages that do cleaning and engine carbon cleaning etc etc and the common reply is egr software delete and remap, does anyone have any advice on this situation? My car runs fine with no obvious restrictions even after the light comes on, it's the 3.0tdi on 124k
  6. I'm not worried about the headlamps I've already sorted that issue out. And yes I'll make the garage my priority thanks.
  7. I've stripped the air filter and it's dry and had a little bit of dry leaves etc on it and the whole area is clean and clear so I'm convinced it didn't get into the air intake, I've done about 50 miles in it since and checked the oil as well for any sign of water and nothing, the only thing that is different is that whine sound, and although the water was deep it was only for a very short distance and for about 5 seconds, long enough to get !Removed! in my headlights obviously.
  8. I've got a noise coming from my engine somewhere, I went through a very deep puddle last week, and it was as high as my headlamps, I obviously didn't know it was so deep or I wouldn't have gone through, so now I'm left with dirty headlamps inside which I've sorted, and this noise coming from my 3.0 tdi engine, it sort of sounds like a supercharger, everything runs fine and I've checked for water in my engine and had a good look over it but I'm just left with this whine, it also sounds amplified from insidenthe car as well. Any ideas anyone?
  9. Afternoon good people, This week's problem... I drove through a very deep puddle last week, a lot deeper than I anticipated, if I'd have known I wouldn't have gone through, anyway... I ended up with water in my LED headlights, I've had them out and drained them off, heated them up and got all the moisture out, however the water that got in was mucky water and I've now got dirty lenses inside and not to sure how to go about it, will I need to get the heat gun out and separate the lens cover or can I partially strip them down inside?
  10. OK cheers. A4 Avant B8 3.0 s line 240tdi 2011
  11. I'll be looking for the fuse later this morning in the car, I'm currently trying to locate it from the Internet, it's looking like it's gonna be in the boot section but nothing shows me the windscreen with wash logo online, can only see rear wipers fuse. I know the front 2 fuse boxes have the diagram on the panel but I don't recall seeing a diagram on the 1 in the boot, again I'll be spending some time with it today as I've got the day off.
  12. The halogen bulbs are 5w and so are these led bulbs that I put in, the rest of the bulbs are working fine in the car. I'll admit that electrics aren't my strong point. And I'm pretty sure there was no fault codes when I plugged it in the other week.
  13. Thanks Jason, I'll look into this.
  14. I replaced the original halogen bulbs with new led bulbs, all the other bulbs are still working fine but the 2 behind the pan roof just seem to break in ½, I've now replaced those with 2 different types and are working fine. I was just wondering if anyone knew if it was possible that the bulbs and the washer motor stopping working could be linked?
  15. I recently installed new internal LED bulbs, then the 2 bulbs over the back seats somehow snapped inside, not really sure what happened, but coincidentally my rear window washer is now not working, the motor doesn't make a noise or anything, does anyone know where the fuse is for the motor? Or any other ideas? The wiper still works but no water getting pumped through.
