Thanks. Yes you seem to have a healthy number of fuses compared to this car. I have looked around the engine bay, including below the rubber cover between the engine and the windscreen. I've also checked in beside the battery, below the spare wheel. I'm still convinced that I must be staring right at the fuse carriers and somehow not seeing them! As to the aircon issue, the display shows Aircon On, if I simply put the ignition on without starting the engine, but it immediately goes to Off when I start it up. I am assuming it is probably a compressor clutch issue and that the electronics are ok with demanding an "on" position with the engine off but revert to off as soon as it tries (and fails) with the engine on. Before assuming something expensively mechanical, though, I would want to rule out the simple electrical version of the problem where it can't achieve the on position because of a blown fuse.

Thanks for taking the time to post these pics. They confirm what I was expecting to find when I removed the various panels to access the fuse carriers. But instead I am seeing this: Front left: Front right: Rear right: Rear Left: ...so a total of 12 fuses? I'm sure Audi have done something very clever and totally obvious to most Audi owners, but it has me (as a poor benighted Land Rover owner) totally stumped! 😀

Thanks both. The up/down menu switch to select the aircon mode won't accept any choice but "off" and I reckoned a good starting point was to check the relevant fuse(s). While the car is currently here in the Highlands, the manual is safely tucked up at its home 350 miles away 🙄. While the owners' manuals that I have been able to download vary in some details, they all seem to agree on four location where the fuses should be - front left and right and luggage compartment left and right. My problem is that looking in all four locations, I am coming up well short of the number of fuses that the car must have! The ten or so that I've found seem fine (as tested for continuity with a multimeter). I have a very good code reader for my own car, but it only speaks Land Rover rather than Audi. I must admit that this has reached the point where the Aircon issue is now secondary to the challenge of actually finding out where this car's fuses are hiding!

I'm normally fairly competent with DIY work on vehicles, but never had to do anything with an Audi before. My daughter is visiting with her UK spec Audi A4 B8 TFSI and I need to check for a fuse malfunction. All the diagrams on the web are very clear and fairly consistent, but the vehicle just doesn't seem to match up! Passenger-side front fuse location has a single (horizontal) fuse strip with only six or seven fuses present, while the web pics show three (vertical) strips and a decent number of fuses. Driver's side is simply an empty space, with no fuses or wiring visible, while again the web shows three strips and plenty of fuses. Luggage space right is a completely empty void and luggage space left has a single strip, with no actual fuses and one relay. There is a box on the base of the left luggage space but I don't seem to be able to get into it without unbolting it from the car. I am clearly missing something really obvious here and what started as a simple check has become a bit more of a challenge!
