Can you accurately describe the noise or better still get a recording of it? Can you estimate where its coming from? Are your wheels standard or have you put larger wheels on? is it possible on full lock that the front wheels are rubbing on the arch liners or is the wheel rubbing on the strut?

Hey guys. Thinking of installing a set of adjustable suspenion links to adjust the height slightly. Does anyone know how much the height of the car would be adjusted with a 10mm shortening of the links? Im just trying to get an idea of roughly what amount to adjust the links before i put them in. if the internet is to be believed a 7mm adjustment translates to about a 20mm change in height of the car? Is there any draw back to using the adjustable links over using say VCDS to adjust the height? I did look at some of the module available like the CETE module but not sure its worth the expense of these! is adjusting the height going to put pressure on the shocks or does the height matter with them?

Mr12Volt Adapter Retro Fit for Bluetooth/aux/usb A8 D3

Great job on the write up. It reads very well! How have you found this since installation? does it allow consistent streaming from a mobile via the standard 3G MMI? Interested in getting some way to stream from either my Samsung or Iphone, not overly bothered by Android auto or Apple car play, but really want to stream audio books or music on longer journeys! -
A4 TECHNIK 35 TDI S-A(2019)-Reverse Camera MMI Display Fault
Hammie1982 replied to Winnerbean's topic in Audi Technical
It almost looks like a faulty connection... like you need to disconnect the camera and clean the connectors and reconnect it. What method of MMI reset did you use? -
Where in Ireland are you? Theres a couple of places i could recommend depending on your location.

A quick google search or Wheel Fitment search on the internet will give you alot of information. Most of it, isnt worth your time reading. But over my 42 years and 36 of them being around cars. I have found that there is plenty of information out there that will help. But you need to know where to look. As far as i am told by a tyre fitter here in town, "you can get 22" wheels on an A5, but it depends on the suspension setup and the width of the wheels". "Your very likely to get rubbing issues and overstress the wheel bearings and bushes on the car but it can be done" "It depends on the Engine, the model and the year" Ill refrain from asking the follow up questions that he put to me in regards to 22" wheels on a "Smaller car". Bare in mind, I drive an A8 and he nearly chewed my face off when i asked him for a price for tyres for 21" wheels...... He went on to say about pickups having wheels that size etc. (Hes a good bloke, ya just have to know how to handle the grumpy sod) Being honest and having had all different types of wheels on all different types of cars over the years, I wouldnt be advising going any bigger than 255/30R20 on the car if you want any kind of longevity out of the wheels or your spine. The roads are not freshly laid nor are the potholes forgiving to any wheel on less than a 25/30 profile tyre (Thats just my opinion)

Whilst not wanting to stand on anyones toes or question anyones knowlege. I do find it odd that the Cruise control would be dismissed when towing. I used to travel with another friend when towing caravans and his A6 would have had cruise control on whilst towing. Having said that i dont know if it was a factory fit or retro fit tow bar to be honest. And when searching for information reference another friends Skoda and the same issue, theres alot of information to do with people having issues with adaptive cruise control when towing! Intermittent loss of use but not complete loss! I wouldnt be the most knowledgable in these matters but i do find it interesting that they would deem it necessary to restrict the use of a feature which is most helpful in everyday driving and in maintaining the correct speed, just because your towing a trailer or caravan.

Hi and welcome. Im not fortunate enough to have the auto main beam option on my car (my cars too old), but i have it on my Wifes Seat Alhambra. I find it great when it works properly. but sometimes find that it dips the lights and then wont put the mains back on for ages. Or it doesnt dip them soon enough! Im not sure if the Audi system would be the same (tho both are VAG Group and probably share parts and sensors) but if it wasnt an expensive upgrade, Id definitely be putting it in

Disappointing forum - too much trouble to respond?
Hammie1982 replied to audi999's topic in Audi Q5 Club
As i used to say on other forums i ran a good few years ago. Sometimes you have to lead by example. If you want more responses, you have to post more on other peoples threads and not just your own. I know that sounds a bit like tit for tat kinda thinking, but what i mean by it. If theres more interaction on the site in general and more discussion around mods, fixes, upgrades and so on. you will have a higher % a chance that someone is going to see a topic that they can answer. I happen to be at a computer most days so i can access forum whenever. But theres things i wouldnt know the first thing about! So ill refrain unless i have read about it or seen it posted elsewhere before. -
thats a beautiful car. Should sell handy enough! sorry to hear you had issues with a pair of chancers....... you should have reported them for it too tho. Problem is, cop wont do anything! Given the chance id be taking it off ya but not the right timing

Jason, Thanks for the help mate. I have to get time to get at it and sort it. thanks again

Id agree with MSTV. Getting a list of what was on the car when it was bought would be an advantage. Then get someone with VCDS to have a look at the car and see what they can enable. Im not great with Vcds myself but i dont think it would allow you to enable software that the hardware isnt there to support.

Wheres it showing? Is it showing a location or just a blank screen?

Something like these could look very cool on it i think..... (obviously everyone has their own taste in wheels tho) ASTON Forged AF80 wheels (Aston do some great looking wheels (as do Veeman))

had a few mins spare yesterday when i was supposed to be doing something else... but procrastinating and decided to have a look. turns out when i open the drivers door, there is no door open symbol on the dash. so it seems like the car isnt registering that the door is opened at all! (that then explains why it locks itself occasionally too.

Very nice Steve. Not normally a fan of Black on Black as the wheels often get lost in the lack of colour.... but that just pops and looks great

Thanks Jason, this is exactly what i was looking for. I realised after some searching around the door Jam that it wasnt a simple older style pushpin sensor. Now that i have this as a guide, when i get time... Ill get the microswitch looked at and if necessary, replaced. Thanks again.
-
Jason, Thanks for the reply, I though i was going insane looking for something that wasnt there.... Sorry i dont have a cleaner picture of the door jam, this is the only photo i have from before i cleaned the area. Is that depression switch likely to be under the black cable cover?

When I open the drivers door of the car, the lights dont come on. where would I find the drivers door sensor to replace it? seems like a simple/silly issue but i want to sort it.

Again your absolutely justified in your train of thought. But in my experience DPF's are a complete pain in the ar** as theres so many things that do go wrong with them. Ill be honest i didnt read your post about the DPF, so i couldnt give any advice. I have a Seat Alhambra 2015 at home (wifes car) that has given me quite a few issues with the DPF. but it turned out that it was a symptom of a different issue all together. The turbo was on its way out and the flexi pipe on the exhaust had more holes than a collinder. so the DPF was not auto regenerating and was clogging up causing the car to throw up all sorts of weird and wonderful codes! main dealer told me to buy a new dpf, the one in the car "probably had a crack in it". Another garage told me i was driving the car wrong, another garage told me the injectors were fec&**. all without doing anything other than putting a code reader on the car. Sorry you didnt get the responses you need to give you the info you need, but i wouldnt consider myself impartial enough on DPF's to answer questions on them! My idea of a DPF is Take it off, hollow it out and put it back and pretend its still there! Same as ADBlue - delete it out of the car and pretend to know nothing about it! -

I have thought the same thing! However unless your prepared to put in the time and respond to other peoples posts then you cant really complain when they dont reply to yours! Forums are a 2 way street. I have run several forums and some go this way due to participant reluctance to answer other peoples posts, and some end up the other way with every thread going off script! when you dig into it, you might find that people are reluctant to give experiences for several reasons, 1. They are busy people that just dont have time to browse. 2. Their own experience isnt vast enough to be able to answer your question, 3. theres been a history of abusive messages when something isnt 100% and they dont want to face abusive messages. 4. not enough regular visitors and people only come online to post when they have a problem. -
Honestly I dont use Ebay. I wasnt even aware of Partsfinder... ill have a look. Thanks Gareth

Im going to have to replace my downpipe's so looking for a second hand downpipe for a 3.0 Quattro Sport (233bhp model) is there a difference in the 4.2 tdi downpipe or would both fit? while i wouldnt mind deleting the DPF, i dont think it would pass the NCT (irish version of the MOT) with a modified downpipe. Where might one find a downpipe that would fit, that isnt an extortionate price?

Unfortunately mine didnt add the android auto update, but that due to the age of the unit. Its a 2009 A8, if i wanted Android Auto or the apple equivelent, i would need to change the unit to something newer. (which i wont rule out yet. its always a possibility for me!

Can anyone recommend an OBD fault code reader?
Hammie1982 replied to Vikter's topic in Audi A6 (C7) Forum
How have you found ODB Eleven? I was thinking about one of them before I got the Carly ODB reader. Carly works fine on my Audi and Seat cars, but found on Renault it wasnt worth the effort. I dont know if its down to the coding or the interface but it just didnt like being plugged into the Renault.
