  1. Hi folks. Since getting my 2010 A6 Quatro Avant 2.7 on the road I have had a myriad of electrical issues which I have been slowly getting through, but a couple are really getting me frustrated. Main ones being. 1/ Fuel issues. P0087. Replaced in tank fuel pump, both fuel sensors on the fuel rails and fuel filter, but still getting the glow plug warning on hard acceleration. If I accelerate normally, then no issue, but if I press hard and she goes to kickdown, off it goes. I have access to a Vidas unit which tells me low fuel pressure. 2/ No horn. Fuses all checked and found to be all good. Nothing coming up on Diagnostic. Bear in mind I have only just found how to do the diagnostic and I am FAR from an expert. 3/ Minor issue. water leaking into the tailgate which as blown offside courtesy light on the tailgate and is badly corroded. Is there a common place where water can get in as I can see nothing. Other than that I am getting to like the Quatro after having run Volvo XC90's for the past 10 years or so. Desperate to fix issue No 1 in particular as I have a 600 mile round trip to do towing a car transporter covered trailer trailer which will be about 2.4 tons and don't fancy hitting a steep incline and her dropping into limp mode for obvious reasons. Cheers in advance. John.
  2. Hi Steve and thanks for that. Plan is now to get her coded on Monday and fingers crossed she will run. I am a member of several forums and as founder of Club Lotus North East Scotland, I obviously go through a fare few and have always found them to be helpful and a bit of fun. The Audi group looks to be the same. The plan for the A6 Quatro is too tow my covered trailer for my show cars and too replace my existing one which is I think my 5th Volvo XC90 and just fancied a change. Hopefully it all works out. John.
  3. Thanks Darryl. I did wonder and asked someone more knowledgeable than me about modern motors and they didn't think it would due to age of the car as it's a 2010. I will double check now though and cross my fingers its that simple. John.
  4. Hi folks. So just joined and the 1st thing I want to do is pick your brains, well those who know more than me on the Audi and that will be 99.999% of you. My story is. I have run Volvo XC90's for the last 7/8 years and kind of fancied a change and this Audi A6 Quatro came up locally. My last Audi would have been a 200 about 40 years ago. Now this A6 came to me via a local advert. Lady owner driving through nearby town when the car dies on her. Recovered to local mechanic who diagnosed primary fuel pump, fuel pump sourced and fitted into the tank. Here things stalled for a couple of months as the car was about due an MOT. Parts purchased for MOT and fitted (brake pads and discs etc) but the car had by then been sitting for several months and the battery by now was dead. Lady owner then decided to sell it as is as she had to buy another car for travel to/from her place of work. Enter me. Purchased said car, mechanic fitted the half charged original battery which obviously had nothing like the volts required. I then purchased a new Yuasa battery (read expensive) and stuck it in the car. Everything then powered up and the pump could be heard priming. Dash all light up, lights, windows etc all live. BUT, turn the key and nothing except message on the dash. Battery low, will recharge while driving. ESP fault see owners hand book, and a constant beep. Battery removed and stuck on a charger over night when it was then checked at 13.8 volts. Battery reinstalled and same result and messages messages. I've read some postings about brake light switch and EMC. So any pointers, hints and tips would be greatly received. Forgot to add, I'm old school spanner man and not into computers and diagnostics. But I do possibly have access to someone who does. TIA. Newbie. John.
