  1. I might get an A5 next time around.
  2. I don't think it has brake sensors and Audi a few months ago relieved me of £2k for doing all the brake discs and brake pads, one replacement hub and one replacement brake calipers as they were unable to get the original ones off without using a blow torch as the someone had over torqued the bolts.
  3. How do your A1 perform in very windy conditions with a perfect suspension system? Mine sways significantly if there are gusts of heavy winds and I find that it also sways when bigger cars go past me on the motorway under windy conditions. Is that normal? Car's done 69k miles as of last week.
  4. OK sorry for not following up on this for ages. I took it to my local VW garage and they refused to touch it and told me to take it to Audi instead. Replacement was £450-ish, new part was £180. Audi charges £155 A HOUR for labour and they kept the car for two weeks as they found other issues with the braking system which cost another £2k to put right - no thanks to the previous owner who wasn't very careful with it). Not going back there unless absolutely necessary.
  5. VAG specialists, that's the keyword. Thanks.
  6. I'm looking for the nearest independent audi garage that can look after my Audi A1, I'm in the East Hampshire area. Audi dealership charges £200 a hour. Thanks, Alex
  7. It's particularly surprising given the Teutonic attitude to quality. 😞
  8. You may be right, I'll get it replaced. But I still think we should be able to repair these things rather than put into the landfills 😞
  9. eurocarparts sells replacements for about £170. Gawd knows what my friendly local garage will charge. I've just seen a video where someone extracts the wiper motor, disassembles it, pops the gears out of it and puts it in vinegar for a day or so, and it's fixed with some grease. Has anyone tried that and had positive results?
  10. Yeah I probably will have a look at it tomorrow see if it's something I can sort easily before I refer it to my friendly local garage. Thanks
  11. It stopped working a few days ago and I can hear it whining when I try to turn it on. What's likely to be wrong with it?
  12. The mystery is solved! It was a faulty hearing aid! Had that blasted thing bleeping today all the way to Kent from Hampshire. I'm deaf and wear hearing aids. Good news, I'm due for replacement in a few months' time. Sammie's in fine health! ❤️
  13. Ok thanks. No, I'm aware it's best to check the pads and discs as well.
  14. I've done 2000 miles now. The oil level is now on the high mark on the dip stick. Mind you I think the previous owner slightly overfilled it as it was 5mm above the high mark.
  15. My previous BMW had brake wear sensors, does the Audi A1 1.4 (2016) have these as well? Thanks,
