Well done. Nothing more satisfying than a home spray job 👍

Can’t wait to see the pics 😁

Don’t forget your Panel prep and adhesion promotor aerosols 👍 halfords own aerosols aren't too bad so long as you are not going for factory paint colour match. It’s also worth investing in a 2 pack clear coat though it’s unlikely you’ll pick that up from halfords. https://www.halfords.com/motoring/paints-and-body-repair/primer/halfords-plastic-pre-primer-clear-300ml-258747.html?istCompanyId=b8708c57-7a02-4cf6-b2c0-dc36b54a327e&istFeedId=

If you’re anything like me, when parked at traffic lights, in cooler temps you’ll find your self looking at other cars exhaust for signs of vapour 🤣

Of course! But in all my years of car ownership I’ve never experienced it to the extent of this little 1.4 tfsi 🤔😂

I have 2012, 1.4 tfsi, in cold, damp wether, it too emits an alarming amount of vapour but only idle, No odour, no coolant loss. I was concerned the first winter this occurred but it cleared once warmer temperatures arrived. Same through this last winter but now we are experiencing above 15 degrees vapour has cleared. No loss of coolant with mine. I remember doing a google search when I first experienced it … seems to be pretty common.

You dont have to throw them out. Once you have picked up and fitted the replacements, bung em on eBay Or gumtree. Get some of the money back for what you spent on A leather interior. the seats you have look like “sports” seats. Possibly somebody is looking to upgrade to those
-
Another option might be to replace the seat with one from eBay. Plenty of seats/interiors pop up on there. Might be tricky finding something in better condition than yours with that blue insert though!? It could be an opportunity to upgrade to leather / part leather if that floats your boat

thanks, steve... its getting to where i want it ☺️

Probably the wise thing to do. if you were to pay for this work it’d probably be quite expensive , and realistically, unless done to a very high standard would only be a temporary measure. On the 8p model of which I think yours would be (61plate) the rear wishbones are a common mot failure point as they do rust quite badly. From what I can gather, 8v models are of very similar design and will probably go the same way. I make a point of power washing mine as part of the wash routine

Made a desision on what to do with the car?

Offside Rear Subframe mounting prescribed area is corroded but not considered excessive On my previous 2005 A3 I carried out some preventative treatment in this area. Not easy but doable. Would have been much easier on a ramp. Long story short, removed rust with various sanders and treated with Bilt Hamber products. Went through further MOTs without mention.

It’s a crappy design Colin

Those sponge sound deadening pads in front wings
enc replied to enc's topic in Audi Club Lounge / General Chat
Yeah, I probably will. -
Lots of VAG group cars built after 2003 have a sponge pad in the front wing which is supposed to reduce road noise. Thing is, it also promotes formation of rust at the top centre of the arch To such an extent, many cars (mk5 golfs especially) had wings replaced under warranty. It appears AUDI, VW etc did not learn from this as cars are still fitted with these pads. To my point 🤔😂has anybody removed these as a preventative measure to stop the onset of rust? I plan on doing mine in spring and am wondering if there’s an adverse effect on road noise in the cabin !?
