  1. Lots of VAG group cars built after 2003 have a sponge pad in the front wing which is supposed to reduce road noise. Thing is, it also promotes formation of rust at the top centre of the arch To such an extent, many cars (mk5 golfs especially) had wings replaced under warranty. It appears AUDI, VW etc did not learn from this as cars are still fitted with these pads. To my point 🤔😂has anybody removed these as a preventative measure to stop the onset of rust? I plan on doing mine in spring and am wondering if there’s an adverse effect on road noise in the cabin !?
  2. 😲did that take a hit?
  3. To be fair, if it sorts your back, £130 is a small price to pay. my back issue comes and goes and a few choice stretching exercises usually works wonders. I just wish I knew what triggered it …
  4. Thanks Terry. Not sure if I can justify £130 but watching with interest.
  5. Bellies its age so well. Private plate and the uninformed wouldn’t have a clue to its age. that roof rust looks bit scary, what’s the plan there?

    Would you?

Well I didn’t in the end. Spent too much time wrestling with the plastic under tra in the cold 😖❄️😆 treated myself to a new pair of axle stands too 😁
  7. Hi Terry I’ve tried a couple but they haven’t worked for me so I’m reluctant to recommend them. I’m watching this post so if you find one that works please let us know.
  8. I’m sure the water pump would start rattling/leaking before 150k 😵‍💫😅 I follow the VAG technic channel on YouTube. They’ve just done major work on a low mileage Porsche cayenne engine (same engine as some Audi) Porsche recommends something like 20k miles between services. The owner of this car serviced it every 6 k miles …

    Would you?

Yes, generally I am of the same opinion. But I’m thinking preventative maintenance as I’m sure you are aware of how cruddy TB’s can get. It looks to be an easy removal procedure and “might” prevent a tight spot further down the line. Decisions decisions🤔😂
  10. Don’t you pay extra on insurance for “grey imports” also grey imports are generally less desirable on the used market also, I remeber hearing there is littllebor no underbody rust protection on japanese imports. Not the end of the world I suppose as this could be added here but something to consider. all this of course might have changed in recent years and if you plan on keeping the car a good few years less of an issue I suppose 🤔
  11. To another Audi? Intrigued why you would want to do this when there are so many uk cars available ?
  12. Clean throttle body as part of routine maintenence? engine runs fine apart from slight hesitation on take off in first. No fault codes. due to carry out oil and filter sservice within h next couple of weeks. looked at couple of videos on YouTube and removal of TB appears to be straight forward. im tempted to remove and clean both sides of butterfly and replace gasket. What you reckon, if it ain’t broken don’t fix it or remove and clean ?
  13. Modern motoring .. what a palava. anybody remeber the days you could swan in to your local auto spares outlet.. choose from 3 batteries for less than £50 and swap it out in the car park 😁
  14. Hi, on first viewing my 1.4 tfsi, I noticed the same issue you are experiencing… no warm air from blowers. Turned out to be the heater matrix. From new, Audi fit some kind gel bag in the system which over time breaks down and clogs up the matrix. Mine was sorted before purchase but I believe it’s quite an involved job.
  15. Thanks Steve 👍
  16. That a certain thread has new replys?
  17. Might be worth a try to cross reference to other makes with the same engine? VW, Skoda ?
  18. Always handy knowing a decent garage!
  19. Fantastic news Mr. G and thanks for returning to update your thread. shoutout for the garage is in order I think 👍
  20. I have an ongoing “issue” with bulb warning. If I notch the light switch from off to headlights on in one sweep the bulb warning will show up. if I switch incrementally then the warning light does not illuminate. Note, no bulbs are out even when the warning is illuminated. No real issue for me as long as I remember to switch incrementally.
  21. nightmare! Kerp us posted if you ever find a solution🤔
  22. Funny, how we (myself included) still refer to them as wing mirrors when its 30 odd years since they were positioned on the wing
  23. Fun fact! In times gone by, “Wing mirrors” were actually positioned on the wing! Strange but true
