  1. Jeez! Nightmare. Don’t you leave it in gear ?
  2. Op never came back so I guess we’ll never know 😂 so how exactly did you loose your car Steve?
  3. Never knew condition of battery was important to operation of handbrake! Gotta hate EHB 😖
  4. So many of these OBD readers about. It’s confusing which does what 🤔😂
  5. 😁thank god for that, otherwise the roads would be littered with Austin allegros 😂
  6. Can’t share your enthusiasm there 🤣
  7. I do remember allegros and their squared off steering wheels unfortunately A friends dad had an estate … hideous thing. Funnily enough, there are a few retro modded ones appearing on the car scene Back to todays Audi, I’m starting to wonder if it’s purely for cosmetic reasons …to make it look like a F1 Steering wheel 🤔😂
  8. It appears to be something some drivers find desirable and want for their cars. I have one in my a3 and tbh, I find it a but arkward in that you are conscious of its presence when “threading” the steering wheel through your hands where as with a circular wheel you just “thread” without thought. I’ve wondered if it was to offer additional leg room for those that have their steering wheel positioned low 🤔🤣
  9. … what’s it all about ?
  10. Hmm, not that kind of sound cliff. I’m trying to capture the audio and I’ll post here.
  11. 2012, A3, 1.4 tfsi 8v. Only On initial cold start, 9 times out of 10, my car makes an odd whine/ whirring sound immediately following the engine firing this last for a second only( sods law it didn’t do it as I prepared to record it this morning) possibly the starter running on after the engine has fired? This does not occur on subsequent starts after initial cold start, even imefialty after switching the engine off and starting it for a second time. Also, when this occurs the engine revs are at 1200rpm! if an attempt is made to drive in this state, there is hesitation in acceleration and a slight turbo whine can be heard. This lasts for around a minute before revs drop to their usual 750rpm. The Car runs fine at this point. If the engine is immediately switched off and restarted after the initial cold start issue, revs are at 750ish and the car performs normally. Unsure if the two issues are connected? Obviously, there is some kind of cold start system which I think should elevate the rpm on a cold engine!? but as said, when the idle is at 1200 rpm progress is poor. any ideas fellas? P
  12. This is terrible! Has the issue been sorted?
  13. That’s good! Does it support activation of features … alarm bleep on off etc?
  14. Is that true? Used to be that cars came with a harness with all plugs regardless if they were used or not. When did this change? I’m not doubting this is now the case and I suppose it makes economic sense just not the way it was !?
  15. Did you do them?
  16. I would agree with above. To me this sounds more like a “vibration” than a rattle. I can see in the video people looking into the open engine bay, did you inspect underneath the car for loose under trays/shields etc? Just an idea for for further checks😉
  17. Watching with interest. how do you find the launch CRP123E code reader ?
  18. Well done what man😎
  19. Yes it’s a great colour. It was my first choice when I was looking for an 8p many years ago. Couldn’t find the right one and ended up with larva grey … which was my third choice but grew to love it 😂 nice car there rybrook… future classic for sure.
  20. Watching with interest, thanks for posting. im about ti replace front dampers, top mounts and anti roll bar links on my A3. the top mounts are getting a bit creaky. Dampers look to be originals and with the car past 100k miles replacing them can’t do any harm I suppose.
  21. Moderator please swap this to 8v section. thanks in advance
  22. Just realised I posted this in the 8p forum. Can a moderator swap this to the 8v section please ? thanks
  23. Yes that’s true. There’s quite a few VAG repair specialist and breakers in the NW. it’s while since I’ve bought anything from a breakers but it’s always handy knowing their whereabouts. (Not that the OP has mentioned breakers specifically)
