  1. Thanks Makes sense. I have replied to all my interactions
  2. I have answered this post elsewhere. After solenoid, cam sensor etc I became very despondent. I suddenly thought, the ECU remembers things. As the cam chain wore over a long period it thought this was ok. When the new chain was fitted the ECU thought it was too far advanced. I pulled the fuse on the ECU and waited 20 minutes, put it back and all has been well for some weeks now.
  3. Sorry, I have replied to this post elsewhere. I stopped to think about what we had done. We changed all the associated parts and still the same. I thought, well the car learns about things and the cam chain has worn over time so the ECU was happy with that. Now it had a new chain the ECU does not understand the cam advance. Although the mechanic reset whatever he had to by software it didn’t help I crossed everything and pulled the ECU fuse, went and had a cup of tea and came back put tje fuse back snd no EM light since (3 weeks now)
  4. Sorry, no difference. I will live with it as with the other cars I have had Thanks
  5. Cntrl Alt Delete. In all seriousness. We know the ECU learns things and I think it learnt that the VVT was not working and was OK with that.
  6. So am I. I was getting very depressed knowing I couldn’t afford anymore on the car. I guess it will also learn how I drive and forget the previous owners. Chuffed to bits. For a small fee I will tell the mechanic 😂😂
  7. Sorry for the long post but I am very pleased to get a resolution. My P0011 too far advanced started after renewing cam belt cam chain water pump etc. Everything mechanical was changed, cam adjuster, solenoid valve and cam position sensor but still the same fault. Because I was fed up with looking at the EM light I disconnected the solenoid. All that did was throw up more errors about missing the solenoid. I then connected my spare solenoid and tie wrapped it in the bonnet. The fault was still there although there was no possibility of advancing the cam. Therefore the ECU thinks the cam is permanently too far advanced. The technician had already checked twice and the timing is right. I then thought as the old chain and tensioner were rattling the cam adjuster couldn’t have been working right, if at all. So now it is working the ECU is confused. I bit my tongue, held my breath and crossed everything and pulled the ECU fuse and went for a cup of tea. After replacing the fuse everything is working perfectly. So, a simple cold restart solved everything.
  8. Hi I am looking for an independent Audi garage in North Surrey. Does anyone know of a garage I can use? Thanks
  9. Yes, like most forums. Same when I was on the A2 forum.
  10. That’s outrageous. I don’t have a wealth of knowledge but I always update my posts. I guess it was fixed so no need for the forum anymore. 🤷‍♂️ Thanks for the reply
  11. Hi Does anyone know if there was a result to this post?
  12. Thanks for the reply. the mechanic I am using has been excellent over the years with other cars and he has taken the covers off and checked again and says it is ok. I will ask him again. The cam adjuster is on a spring. I am wondering if you need to turn the adjuster and then put the chain on. There are many posts all over the internet with the same problem but I cannot find one with a fix.
  13. I only have a cheap ODB reader so cannot check live data. I thought about buying VAGCOM but I only run Mac at home. I have the same issue on my old A4 B7. The slightest touch on the pedal accelerates, even a slight bump in the road. I assume it is a “fly by wire” accelerator as I cannot see a cable. Perhaps it is adjustable by VAGCOM.

  15. Hi Please excuse this long quote. I am fairly old and no longer able to clamber about fixing cars. I recently bought an ‘06 A4 Quattro 2.0tfsi. Although it is old it has only done 75000. I decided to have the cam belt and chain changed as the chain rattled. I used a mechanic I have used many times before and he is great. After doing the work the EM light came on. He checked everything he had done, found no problems so changed the cam adjuster. Still got the light. I changed the solenoid/valve as it is easy, no different. I changed the cam position sensor, still no different. We are both stumped now. This was probably going to be my final car and I absolutely love it after my last old car. I am desperate for any help or maybe a recommended tech in North Surrey. Thanks for teading.
  16. Forgot to add, I bought the option “Bluetooth only”
  17. Hi I bought this one and it works https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003666056014.html?spm=a2g0n.order_detail.order_detail_item.2.7fb6f19cM9cxBB I have to press the CD button once for CD, twice for Bluetooth. I believe the car must be told it has a CD auto changer. A friendly mechanic plugged in and set mine.
  18. Yes. I have been Googling and reading. On the cam adjuster there are three split rings like piston rings. I am wondering if the mechanic changed them. I will ask him. Nothing else left.
  19. EM light is back after a couple of hours. It has to be something to do with the cam adjuster. Maybe the three oil rings.
  20. Hi Update to VVT problem. I have just received and fitted a new cam position sensor. (Why is something with just one bolt fitting still so tricky) I have only done a few miles but the light has stayed off. When I changed the solenoid valve it came straight back after 1/2 mile so hoping for a result. There were a couple of small bits of metal on it which doesn’t sound good but we will see. Thanks for your help. I will update in a couple of weeks.
  21. Aha, found it. Thanks
  22. Hi. Mechanic changed programming to include CD auto changer but the item still did not work. I bought a different unit and it worked straight away. I believe, or guess, one unit replaces the auto changer and one works alongside. The one that works has more wires in the blue connector. Thought I would update for anyone who is interested.
  23. Hi, I am a new member and would like to update my posts but cannot find them. Can anyone tell me the best way to search? Thanks
