  1. Thanks Steve, useful to know about this issue as I think I'll steer well clear on my next purchase. Such a shame as I really love the car, but the uncertainty it brings, not so much! Interesting to know that you didn't require the sensors or the DPF clean though, so did you just have the EGR cooler replaced? I know this is still an expensive thing due to cost of the cooler and the labour intensive job it brings!
  2. Thanks for your reply. Yeah, it was a local VW/Audi specialist that was recommended by a family friend, so I think that helped get the cost down! Yes, very true. I obviously don't know how it was driven before me and I do suspect it was lots of short stop/start trips. I am still in talks with the dealer who aren't being very helpful (no surprise there). Have just spoken to The Motor Ombudsman who have since told me that the dealer isn't accredited by them, so that says a lot really. We either have to take the £13500 the dealer is offering us (based on us buying another car from them) which is frustrating as we paid £16340 in March this year, or we have to pay for the repair bill. We're still waiting on a quote from the dealership as they have said they will try do to the repair at cost price, but I'm still yet to see this. Currently unable to get to work, losing pay... it's not going well!
  3. Hey, really (desperately) looking for some advice please! I have a 17 plate Audi Q5 2.0 TDi Quattro. Car is driven up and down the motorway 3 days a week, gets a good run. Last Thursday, half way to work, EML comes on. Had it plugged in at work, given the code P200200 - Particulate Trap Bank 1 - Efficiency below threshold. Since had it plugged it in at an Audi specialist (not dealer) and paid for the diagnostic report. The guy said I need: EGR cooler replacement, potentially 2 new sensors and a DPF clean due to mileage (83752). Car is fully serviced but I have only had it since March. Tried my luck with the garage who sold it to me but they're saying as the fault wasn't present when I bought, I have no rights. The Audi specialist quoted me between £1800 - £1900 - I simply do not have this kind of money spare. Wondering whether anyone has had the same issue and whether all of the above was required to fix it? I have an RAC warranty which I now realise was a pretty pointless purchase, but trying not to dwell on that too much. I did call them and she said all of the above minus the DPF clean could potentially be covered but it all depends on the root cause. If it's soot build up/corrosion etc, it wouldn't be covered. If it's a faulty EGR cooler (which I highly doubt) then it would be covered. I have people saying a DPF clean could potentially sort the problem, but I really don't know anything about this kind of stuff and I'm worried I'll just start paying out on bits here and there and the bill will mount up anyway! The garage I bought it from are coming back to me today/tomorrow with an approx quote to fix based on my report and saying they will do what they can to get costs down but I'm not confident tbh. (They're 50 miles away annoyingly so can't even pop in to chase). Any help would really be appreciated!
  4. Update: Our friend has just been, the issue is glow plug 4 - all 4 glow plugs were changed when they were prepping the car! My partner and father in law said this might be the case, so guess they were right! Waiting for the dealership to open so I can call them and update them. I’ll still be heading there tomorrow and hopefully they can sort it the same day without me needing to take a courtesy car home! 🤞🏻🙏🏻
  5. Thank you, me too 🙏🏻
  6. Keep me posted!
  7. Well I hope you get it sorted asap. Surely if they’re not going to entertain sorting it or acknowledging it, you can just give them the car back! Have you any warranty from them? Annoying buying a car that’s new to you, and then there being issues! I’ve been very frustrated this weekend, stuck in with 2 small children not knowing whether I can drive this car or not! Our friend is due this morning to plug it in, so guess I’ll know more then!
  8. Fingers crossed they get you sorted and it’s nothing too serious. Bit naughty of them not to tell you beforehand though! 🙄
  9. Congrats! hope all goes ok with the recall. What’s it for?
  10. Ah no! Annoying! What year is it? I had a Q3 before this and was impressed with it, had it for 6 years! Just wanted something bigger (kids!).
  11. Thank you.. yeah he seemed adamant but then who knows! The car has been through various checks in preparation for me to collect it, 4 glow plugs changed, brake pads etc. The guy said the tech who he spoke to was the guy who prepped the car for me to collect and he was pretty certain that’s what it would be but like you say, the light could come on for anything and we won’t know until we have the codes. Will know more tomorrow morning when our friend comes over to plug it in 🤞🏻 Spoke to the garage further, they’ll obviously sort whatever it is for me, it’s just a pain as they’re an hour away and can’t go until Monday morning!

  13. Hey. Collected an Audi Q5 2.0 Quattro yesterday. Diesel, auto. Drove it 40 miles home, got into it today and the EML came on. Spoke with garage, they’re happy for me to take it back to them on Monday morning for them to sort - he said he spoke to one of the technicians who said he thinks it’s potentially a O2 sensor issue. Car feels fine, no lag, and drives what I think it normal. We have a mechanic friend coming tomorrow who is going to plug it in and see what’s going on. The tech at the dealership said because the vehicles potentially been standing for a few weeks he thinks this is why the oxygen sensor light is on. I personally have no clue about cars in depth, just wondering if this sounds likely?
