Hi,
I bought an Audi A4 this Feb which came with start issues (at least I believe so). It's been with the dealership 3 times now, first time they changed glow plugs but it didn't make any difference. Second time they checked injectors and two were faulty so they replaced them together with sealings, also replaced fuel filter, I took the car back and it was still the same. Third time they changed/rebuilt both low and high pressure fuel pumps, still no improvements.
I am being told now that it's normal for those engines to take this long to start which I have hard time believing. I've been also told to use premium diesel but again, I can't believe it would be causing those issues.
My question really is, is there something wrong with the car or it really is supposed to start this long?
I've recorded recent car starts:
https://photos.app.goo.gl/YPoYpoyEqJiBjvjFA - those are after injectors change
https://photos.app.goo.gl/wSGozzUbbwXn9LqQ8 - those are latest ones, after all changes
This also happens if I drive with start-stop:
- if the car is turned off for <1s it will start back after one or two cranks
- if the car is turned off for 2-3s it will need like 3-5 cranks
- if its off for longer than that it starts again in 2-5 second mark
I found couple of similar/same engines on YT and they seem to start much better, like any other car would e.g.
