I have a 2019 Q7 and my alternator failed whilst on holiday in France just over a week ago. I have RAC European breakdown cover so my car was taken to a local garage. Fortunately for me the garage was too busy and could not do the work. My car was then taken to an Audi dealership and to my complete surprise they told me Audi would cover everything under warranty! I will be collecting my car on Tuesday this week just before we return home on Thursday. I thought I was looking at a bill of approx £3k. I also read about the lawsuit in the US on faulty alternators but could not find anything about this in the UK until I found this thread. I have owned Audi’s for years and found them to be very reliable cars with generally good service. However, not being upfront with customers on this issue and informing them faulty alternators have an extended warranty is very poor. I wonder how many owners have paid for the replacement just because there dealership initially pushed back.
