Very weird, the car has only done 30K it's a very vague knocking but definitely there, only manifests itself when going slowly, turning into my driveway, maneuvering in supermarket car parks etc. I drive 50 miles per day commute on a mixture of A Roads and unclassified, never hear the noise... Never had anything like this on any other vehicles over the years.

False dawn of hope I'm afraid, after having the top mount fitted the car felt a little tighter and I hadn't heard any noises. Unfortunately the noise is still there, on a Friday I drive home (about 25 miles on A Roads) - then go out to the local supermarket which is approx 3 miles away, knocking is very apparent then. Got underneath and had a good look nothing obvious, everything feels tight, you can't feel anything through the steering or pedals, handles steers and brakes fine......all a complete mystery. Two sets of engineers have now had the car in, the last set did a complete car health check....nothing found... Not sure what to do now

Hi, Just an update on this, having been backward and forward with the supplying dealer to no avail, I got the car booked into a local German car specialist (that helpfully is only 5 minutes walk from my new job) They did a thorough health check on the car and found the driver side top mount was worn, and also the Battery was at 24% (is the original battery and now 7 years old) - both jobs have been done and there seems to be no knocking now....

You will need to prime the fuel system correctly , using a tool like VCDS or risk damage to the fuel system, some people claim they do this without doing this but any air in the fuel can cause issues to the fuel pump....make sure the container is completely full of diesel - the pumps are very expensive to replace.

Will do - luckily I recently started a new job and have a VAG specialist 5 minutes walk away...knew the supplying dealer would do this....they seem stunningly disorganised, and I have been forced to drive around in a Kia Picanto 1.0 which uses 50% more fuel than the A3 and has crippled by back.....

Got an email from the Head of Aftersales after chasing my car, apparently they can't find a fault (what a surprise) - they claim they have been trying to call and email me however I have no missed calls, voicemails or emails (have checked spam and quarantine - I am an IT admin) Just useless......

Car going in today, typically during the cold weather recently the noise has disappeared, would be typical if they can't reproduce the noise...

Car booked in for next Friday - noise getting worse - rear brake pads look very low to me too and should have been picked up on the PDI/MOT , they are going to look at both....oh and have the missing SD Card for the Satnav.

Basically I haven't heard anything , which is typical, now going to call to press the point....

Have finally got access to the Aftersales manager who has agreed to get the car back in a take a look - waiting for a book in date as I'll need a courtesy car while mine is in.

Finally getting some traction on this, usual excuses of IT issues with Phone/Email car is being booked in for investigation, they also have the missing SD Card for the SatNav so can get that sorted too...

I reckon you're right we had the same with my sons car (golf mk6 1.6 tdi) basically there was a huge wait to be seen by the service department, no courtesy cars available ever (which won't work as he has just started a new job and can't take time off), appointments which were cancelled etc etc etc... Most of these dealers are not interested TBH once they have your money....you are on your own Main dealers aren't much better, I have had some terrible service from them too..

Hi, Still haven't resolved this as the supplying dealer are ridiculously slow booking in the car, have been ignoring my emails and phone calls (get though to reception and they are unavailable and will call back) - went down there at the weekend end and was again promised a call back but nothing yet. If I haven't got a response by end of the week am going to escalate......I don't think the PDI was carried out as the rear brake pads are very low, is making me worry about the service and MOT too... Hi, Weather was awful this weekend so haven't been able to get under the car however, I am pretty convinced it is the CV joints seems t be getting worse and is noisy when pulling away/on bumpy roads. Car is under warranty (non-Audi dealership) so am going to push for a fix, the brakes are als a bit noisy which looks like rear brake pads, so much for the 85 point check... Thanks

Thanks Steve - will get under the car and take a look, is very strange as car is quite low mileage...
