  1. Ha ha, don't blame you they've been crossed somehow......two separate posts of mine......Havnt done the belt yet but I hope it goes better than the heater matrix!! It was a right !Removed!.
  2. Hi Gareth I've bought a INA kit with water pump, and while I'm on I'm replacing the damper pulley just need to get cracking sometime. Regards john
  3. Cheers but I don't see anything just an advert!!
  4. Yes I did that steve, but my scanner doesn't go so indepth. Im not prepared to throw big bucks at it......I would like to know where the chime is for starters!! Thanks.
  5. My lights left on, indicator left on, and seatbelt chime has stopped working, and I've walked away a few times and left the left or right lights on, by leaving my indicator stalk down or up. I cant find anything g on you tube!! Just hoping someone can give me a bit guidance as to where to look and fix it
  6. Thanks Steve, that's what I thought, I'm pleased, as it would be one more thing to consider.
  7. New matrix ordered AND timing belt kit (INA).....I'm still trying to get my head round it!! .....I have presumed that the heater matrix has a constant flow of hot water through it....am i wrong? is there a mechanical device anywhere in the system that opens flow to the matrix when you demand heat? I know about the five small motors in the wells for circulating the air in various ways. But what about the water??
  8. Will the clutch pedal get in the way? I saw a u tube video with the LHD and he removed the accelerator pedal and it didn't look too bad. I've ordered it and a T belt kit, needs done anyway......thanks for the input
  9. I think it's the heater core, but to be 100% I've ordered a heater core bypass kit.....if everything circulates after fitting that, then it's the core and not the pump. I THINK 🤔
  10. What's silica bags??
  11. I think it may be the heater core blocked, I'm going to backflush it .....
  12. Yes it makes absolute sense, it's a strange one
  13. I think so, but you can only get an airlock when there is a flow!! Theres nothing flowing so I've determined it must be the pump......At the end of the day, it's nearly time for a Cam belt anyway, so I've ordered it along with the pump and fitting tools. What is strange is that I don't have an overheating issue! ..... Maybe down to fitting a new radiator last year, and that diesel engines run a lot cooler than petrol ones anyway.
  14. Huh.....speak of the devil, just googled where are INA parts made 😳
  15. Thanks very much Gareth, looking at the INA kits they apparently make good stuff. SKF were my favourite choice last time I replaced the belt and pump, but it's looking like the pump has failed after only 4 years. I read that Gates are using Chinese bearings now, so that puts me off, that they are seeking cheaper manufacturers. Thanks again 👍
  16. I'd like opinions please, on the best belt and pump kit out there, I'm looking at buying a kit soon and I want a good one.
  17. Wel I took off the top bulkead hose (the one with a little hole for bleeding) and expecting bubbles but there was nothing. Pulled it right off and coolant was flowing back towards the engine, but a very slow rate. The engine was normal temperature. I held the expansion vessel as high as I could......its like all coolant anywhere isn't moving but its not overheating. I replaced the radiator about 15 months ago.
  18. Do you know where the seperate water pump is? i'm having similar problems,,,,,never heard of that pump.
  19. A4 2.0 tdi b7 2008.... I have noticed when putting my heaters on, I get hot/Warm air for a few minutes then it turns cool, my temp is normal at 90. My scan pointed to heater circulation flap.......it was indeed knackered so I replaced that. Still the same so I replaced the thermostat thinking it might be stuck open and made no difference.....the top hose gets hot and the bottom is cold..... hoses on the bulkhead to the matrix, bottom is hot and top is half hot and when pried back there's a trickle of coolant. ...... expansion vessel cool to mildly warm with not a trickle in the return.....replaced timing belt 4 years ago and new SKF pump.....always used fresh coolant and its very clean....My gut feeling is the water pump, as the water doesn't circulate, but then i think is it the heater matrix!! Im stumped really, as I would expect a good pump like skf to last longer than 4 years. And if it's the matrix, then why isn't the rest of the engine circulating, (or does it have to circulate through the matrix to make a circuit) I would appreciate some experienced help thanks.
