  1. Totally agree, though the specific oil is very expensive. I've read conflicting service intervals: Audi's online service system saying 80,000 miles for this car and everyone else says 40,000. As the main oil contaminants would be due to clutch wear it must make a big difference whether they're town or highway miles and driving style.
  2. We took the car along to AM cars in Ilminster, an Audi Independent specialist and had gearbox oil and filter renewed. Old oil came out looking fairly clean🙂
  3. Actually my wife's the new owner of a 2017 2.0 petrol A3 with a 7 speed s-tronic gearbox. Black Edition - she likes a bit of bling 😁 The Mrs is enjoying driving it very much and I'm charged with keeping it going, hopefully for a good many years as our "sensible multi-purpose vehicle". I was impressed driving it back from the dealers. The 60 miles trip gave me opportunity to experiment with the gearbox settings. Acceleration in 'S' is pretty decent, coasting in 'E' is unnerving. I didn't detect any differences between the 'Comfort' 'Auto' and 'Drive' settings but the box shifts quickly and appropriately. This is the newest car we've owned; we need to catch up with the tech, Dab radio is excellent but yet to play with other stuff - will have to consult the owners manual soon. Now, I do have a few questions regarding the "7 speed dual clutch S tronic" gearbox for the forum, I promise to follow up. The A3 has been regularly serviced and has 56,000 miles but it doesn't look like the auto-gearbox has ever been serviced. Am I right in thinking that a filter and oil change is recommended at 40k and I ought to deal with it soon? I like to do our own repairs and servicing but I'm wondering if this job is best taken to a specialist. I've no experience with this type of gearbox. Roughly what cost should I expect and has anyone recommendations for the gearbox service near East Devon? Thanks Steve
