  1. Very good point. I’m definitely leaning to an electrical issue and not a clutch issue based on my findings so far
  2. Hi guys/girls, I have a theory so please sit tight lol. Audi A6 Avant C7 - 2014 2.0 TDI ultra S-tronic 87,600 miles full service history full gearbox service history (3 gearbox services, 2 with Audi and 1 with an Audi specialist) prior to my ownership. so I have an issue where in the mornings the car tends to stall either on first pull off or within the first few minutes, once warm it’s fine. I have the AC windscreen clear on, drivers heated seat on and rear demister on, the headlights are usually on. at first I thought gearbox issues or clutch, but I’ve been messing around and it doesn’t do it if the electrical demand isn’t high. the alternator is a bit noisey when cold, and I planned to replace it but didn’t want to right now as it’s expensive and can live with noise for a little bit if I need to spend money elsewhere like gearbox. however today I decided to use Carista live data. todays test showed 75% battery charge just after first start up, voltage at ect was 14.6v in nice it turned on my windscreen clear button, rear demister and heated seat (as well as radio and drls on) it dropped to 14.1v. As I pulled away it dropped to 13.8v and stuttered a little. I came to a stop at the end of the road and went to pull away, it stalled and I saw 13.4v for a split second. is it possible a faulty alternator is the cause of my issues? I initially assumed clutches or gearbox fault. But after watching the voltage and logically thinking, perhaps the power usage is too much strain on a failing alternator? And it can’t regulate the draw. I’d love to hear your thoughts and any suggestions on other tests I can do to try and narrow down/ confirm the fault before spending money. my other consideration was doing a calibration / reset on the gearbox incase it wasn’t done after the last gearbox service. much appreciated, Dave
  3. This is the cheapest so far £209.82
  4. GSF - £554
  5. Euros is coming up at £344 for star line
  6. Yer this was my thinking tbh. im suffering with man flu at the moment but this was my next plan, if I don’t hear it I’ll probably feel it direct through the bearing. although the alternators are a fortune 🤦‍♂️
  7. I mean, car supermarkets are known for to be worse than your small second hand car guy 😂 I did some vchecks on a few cars on some car supermarkets that we were looking at, whilst officially not reordered as write offs, found all of them had had some serious damage
  8. Just for some clarity and n this, Carista does indeed do fuel promo by, aswell as gearbox configuration for after changing the oil and pretty much anything else you could need
  9. Do bear in mind there is a lot of trim on Audi too remove so the labour cost maybe more than your anticipating compared to other cars
  10. All I meant by my previous comment was, the demeanour that comes across would put me off asking if I was a newbie, which I’m sure none of us want for the forum.
  11. I think the worse thing is mine came with a receipt from a third party garage which is either a fake receipt or they genuinely took the car to be serviced and it got charged for it and it wasn’t done. filter wise, mine was really thick, you could feel it as you moved the fins, it clearly hadn’t been done for a long time, would be interested to hear how you get on, hopefully it’s not any worse than mine 🤞
  12. Sorry I must be mistaken I thought it was an enthusiasts forum where we help one another and share our disgust at jobs not done properly. but seems everyone is an expert and doesn’t need any help.
  13. Hi Gareth, thanks for your interest. The receipt says Minor service, oil and filter. it is indeed a diesel and I have no issue with the colour of the oil that’s to be expected on a diesel. The consistency though is that of a VAG group diesel not serviced for at least a year in my opinion based on my experience, the oil filter also backs that up in my opinion. this post was really just a point to say, if you do get a new used car, get it serviced straight away by a trusted garage, or if your capable do it yourself so you know it’s done right. Thanks, Dave
  14. it was a minor service, the consistency of the oil, it definitely wasn’t done 3,000 miles ago, especially the state of the oil filter.
  15. Sorry Should have said, it’s a 2.0 tdi ultra from 2014 on 87k auto gearbox cheers, Dave
  16. My experience is injectors. Try some BG245 and give it 3/4 of a tank to work and see if the problem gets worse or better. If it’s gets better it’ll be clogged up/miss firing injectors
  17. Just a quick one, don’t know if you’ve solved this, but is the boot bone dry around the battery or damp or soaking? water often gets in there and could be something as simple as a bad earth from the water
  18. Great post! pretty disappointing that a garage didn’t clean this up whilst changing the disks over, really doesn’t take all that much more time if your already there changing the disks.
  19. I’m not sure if this video picks it up well, but there is a noise on cold start up (worse the colder it is) to me it sounds like a pulley/bearing and I’m leaning towards the alternator. battery is 66% charged and charging at I think 13.6v but can double check. whats your thoughts please? 20. So I got my Audi in September and they said they had an oil and filter service done on it for me and there was a receipt from a third party garage with the paperwork. usually I always do a big service on A new to me car, but I thought I could get away with waiting a bit. finally got round to doing it today, the car was “serviced” 3 months ago/3,000 miles ago, apparently. Glad I’ve done it as I don’t think was, will be doing another one in 6 months time.
  21. I have coated a few of my cars with lanogaurd and will be coating the A6 aswell. The A6 is definitely going to take a lot longer as there is a hell of a lot more trim underneath to remove. i like it, but you must clean and dry throughly like anything before applying. ive have it on a touran, Leon, kodiaq and I have another kit ready to go to the Audi when the weather is better. German cars do have a fair bit of trim and I never found a yearly application was really needed as most it’s covered anyway. Every 2/3 years dependant on age, mileage and how far up north or near the sea you are
  22. This is why I was hoping someone could tell me from first hand experience if Carista can do this, I’ll dog it out tomorrow and test run it and see
  23. Hi Steve, I had planned on that but saw on a post someone did that and this hpfp gave up the ghost with a hefty bill. although I’m sure if the the filter is pre filled aswell it shouldn’t cause too much of an issue 🤞
  24. Morning all, my service parts arrived today (woo). one thing I want to do is change the fuel filter (2.0l tdi 2014). I have Carista and it shows that you can prime the fuel system on their website (see below) however I’ve seen a few posts floating around the internet saying it can only do it with the C6! has anyone actually used this feature on Carista on a c7 tdi and can tell me if it worked? I don’t want to strip the filter off and out the new one on only to find I can’t prime it with what I have. (I do have Carista premium). Many Thanks, Dave
