Audi Nuvolari arrives in London: a meeting of progressive design and innovation
The Audi Nuvolari, the brand’s first high-performance hybrid supercar, made its UK debut in London ahead of a public display at the Goodwood Festival of Speed later this week. With 1,001 PS and a top speed exceeding 217 mph (350 km/h), the Nuvolari is set to become the most powerful and the fastest production vehicle in the history of the four rings. In the Nuvolari, Audi’s technical excellence and craftsmanship combine with a new design language where every decision serves a clear purpose, and nothing is purely decorative. “London is a city known for pushing boundaries of technology, design, and innovation, all traits that are deeply embedded in the Audi Nuvolari,” said Audi UK director, José Miguel Aparicio. “Audi’s record for producing groundbreaking cars stretches back decades, from the engineering prowess of the Ur-quattro to the timeless design of the TT coupe. The Nuvolari represents our next leap forward – a true lighthouse for technological innovation.” The Design: a new philosophy for a new era The Nuvolari will be Audi’s first production car on the road to debut the new design philosophy, led by Chief Creative Officer Massimo Frascella. Characterised by taut surfaces and precise lines, every decision has a purpose, nothing is decorative. That approach also extends to the interior, which is entirely focused on the task of driving. The Location: Audi Nuvolari meets London A global hub for design, culture, and innovation, London provides a fitting backdrop for the Nuvolari’s UK debut. From the architectural diversity of the City to the high-end streets of Mayfair and Kensington, the Nuvolari’s bold, monolithic form stands out in one of Europe’s leading design capitals – reinforcing the connection between progressive automotive design and the capital’s creative excellence. The Technology: Formula 1 innovations hit the road The Nuvolari is the first high-performance hybrid supercar from Audi. With this model, the brand is making a deliberate move into the high-performance segment and staking its claim to be the most desirable premium automotive brand. Based around a new innovative Audi Space Frame with carbon exterior, the Nuvolari pairs a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 with three axial flux electric motors for total system output of 1,001PS. It can accelerate from 0-62mph in 2.7 seconds and hit a top speed of 217mph. Quattro predictive ride is the next generation of quattro drive, one of Audi’s defining innovations. By continuously evaluating detailed sensor data it extends the limits of vehicle dynamics through anticipatory, system‑wide control. Formula 1 mindset has played a central role in both development and engineering of the Nuvolari. Carbon fibre components , lightweight design, and active aerodynamics with a Drag Reduction System (DRS) are all derived from motorsport. The high‑end Audi ceramic pro braking system, which uses long-fibre construction for extreme heat resistance, transfers Formula‑1‑inspired technologies into a production vehicle. The Name: A tribute to a fearless racer The name of Audi’s high-performance hybrid supercar is derived from Tazio Nuvolari, one of the most prominent figures in the history of motorsports. To this day, the Italian is remembered for his fearlessness, ingenuity, and single-minded will to succeed.

Upgrade for Audi A3 models
The A3 model series has been widely popular for generations. Now, the compact class is getting an upgrade, focusing on the redesigned interior with a panoramic display as well as a wider range of driver-assist systems. The A3 family is becoming more capable and more digital, and in the UK more affordable, as a new Technik trim reduces the starting price to £28,650 (OTR). Whether it is a Sportback or Saloon, a traditional petrol or diesel engine; a plug-in hybrid; or the sporty S3 and RS 3 models: the A3 lineup offers immense variety to meet a wide range of needs. Now, all models feature a new interior and enhanced equipment. Interior: a modern panorama A3 models will now come with a completely new cockpit layout. The centrepiece is the curved display, comprising the 11.9-inch Audi virtual cockpit and the 12.8-inch MMI panoramic display. The dashboard complements this redesign: the decorative inlay is wider than before and forms a continuous horizontal line from the instrument cluster to the passenger door. There are four material options to choose from on selected models, namely carbon fibre, Dinamica microfiber, and Impressum black. The centre console also has a new look: the mobile phone tray is now oriented toward the driver’s seatand offers 25-watt wireless charging. All steering wheels in the upgraded A3 models feature a physical scroll wheel integrated into the multifunction buttons. Regardless of the features, customers can choose between three different steering wheel designs: two double-spoke versions and a three-spoke, flat-top-and-bottom design for the S line and S models. Assistance systems: reliable support in everyday driving The range of driver assist systems is expanding significantly. First is adaptive cruise assist plus (available on S3 Vorsprung & RS3 Carbon Vorsprung), which combines adaptive cruise control with active lane guidance at speeds of up to 130mph. For vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission, the system assists with longitudinal and lateral guidance, taking road markings, roadside structures, and surrounding traffic into account. On highways, the system can change lanes by itself when the turn signal is triggered. As a new feature, adaptive cruise assist plus enables automatic braking at red lights. If the vehicle has not come to a complete stop, the A3 will automatically drive on when the light turns green. For the first time, the longitudinal and lane guidance systems also use swarm data, meaning the vehicle adjusts its own speed to the average speed of the road. With online data, adaptive cruise assist can maintain the vehicle’s lane even without visible road markings, increasing comfort in rural and urban traffic. Use of online data for adaptive cruise assist is included for three years after vehicle delivery. Customers can then extend the term for a fee. Four wide-angle surround-view cameras (available on S3 Vorsprung & RS3 Carbon Vorsprung), provide a 360-degree image of the vehicle’s immediate surroundings for easy parking and manoeuvring. The image is shown in 3D on the MMI, where multiple views can be selected and adjusted via the touch display. For example, there is a fully interactional 3D exterior view, including a virtual bird's-eye perspective of the vehicle and its surroundings. Helpful guidelines make it easier to stay oriented while manoeuvring. When pulling into a car wash, for instance, a 3D view of the vehicle along with on-screen guidelines helps the driver position the A3 perfectly between the side rails. In addition, park assist plus and pro (available on S3 Vorsprung & RS3 Carbon Vorsprung), use the cameras to detect parking lines, allowing the vehicle to pull in and out of parking spaces on its own. The A3 handles steering, acceleration, braking, and gear shifting. Once the driver has activated the feature on the MMI touch display, they can sit back and relax while the vehicle is automatically guided into the parking space. With park assist pro, a remote function (available on S3 Vorsprung & RS3 Carbon Vorsprung), is included. This means the driver can exit the vehicle before parking or wait until the vehicle has pulled out of the space before getting in. This is particularly useful in tight parking spaces, whether parallel or perpendicular to the road. The A3 performs the manoeuvre independently as soon as the driver initiates the process in the myAudi app on their smartphone. Another new feature in the A3 models is trained parking (available on S3 Vorsprung & RS3 Carbon Vorsprung), which allows the vehicle to memorise specific parking manoeuvres. If a carport or garage is difficult to access, the A3 only needs to be trained once and will be able to park automatically from then on. The vehicle steers, accelerates, brakes, and shifts gears by itself. The same applies to exiting a parking space. The MMI can store up to five parking manoeuvres over a distance of 50 metres. Each manoeuvre can be given its own name. In narrow streets or parking aisles with no room to turn around, reverse assist (available on S3 Vorsprung & RS3 Carbon Vorsprung), steps in. It records the last stretch driven forward – up to 50 metres at a maximum speed of 21mph – and automatically steers the car back along the same path in reverse. The system handles steering, while the driver remains in control of acceleration and braking. Digitalisation: smarter features, better information Audi connect makes driving the A3 more convenient and efficient. A versatile range of digital services provide information before, during, and after every journey. New remote functions allow users to check not only the vehicle’s parked location – displayed on a map in the smartphone app – but also the status of the parking brake, lights, and any doors or windows that may have been left open. In addition, the myAudi app provides a full overview of mileage, fuel level, remaining range, tyre pressure, oil level, and service intervals. It also allows convenient remote control of the auxiliary heating as well as remote locking and unlocking of the vehicle. With functions on demand, a wide variety of features can be added later. New to the lineup is a package that optimises bass reproduction, balances volume levels between sources, and improves the quality of compressed audio signals. Also available is virtual surround sound, which simulates a variety of acoustic environments – from concert hall to recording studio. Variety of models: a broad portfolio for every need The A3 lineup is exceptionally versatile and covers a wide range of powertrains. Petrol and diesel engines are available in power levels of 116 PS and 150 PS. The A3 e-hybrid is offered as a plug-in hybrid with system outputs of 204 PS. Its electric range is up to 88 miles on the combined WLTP cycle, and the battery can be fully recharged in around 30 minutes thanks to DC charging. The towing capacity of the A3 e-hybrid models is now 1,700kg, which is 300kg more than before. The sporty variants S3 and RS 3 offer particularly agile handling. Both models feature quattro all-wheel drive and the torque splitter, enabling fully variable torque distribution between the rear wheels for enhanced driving dynamics. The S3 is powered by a 333 PS four-cylinder turbocharged engine, while the Audi RS 3 features a 2.5 TFSI five-cylinder engine producing 400 PS. Both models are distinguished by their specific badge in the Singleframe and a unique digital daytime running light signature. The RS 3 has signalled its sporting character with a checkered flag design since the start of its current generation, and now the S3 has a distinctive signature of its own. Drivers can choose from four different daytime running light designs for the Matrix LED headlights and customize their selection via the MMI. Three of the four signatures have been completely redesigned for the base model. UK model specification and pricing The updated A3 models will be available at Audi Centres at the end of September 2026. Prices start at £28,650 (OTR) for the A3 Sportback, while the A3 Sportback e-hybrid is available from £39,980 (OTR). The Audi S3 starts at £49,960 (OTR). The Audi RS 3 is available from £63,655 (OTR). The A3 / S3 / RS 3 specifications: A3 Technik Sport S line Black Edition S3 Black Edition Vorsprung RS 3 Carbon Black Carbon Vorsprung

The Audi Nuvolari is a physical manifestation of Audi’s technological renewal
In the run-up to the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Monaco, Audi has unveiled the Nuvolari* — the fastest and most powerful supercar in the brand’s history. The drivers for the Audi Revolut F1 Team, Nico Hülkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto, also attended the presentation of the near-production prototype on the Côte d’Azur — Hülkenberg and Bortoleto have already tested the Audi Nuvolari* and are impressed. Below, they and CEO Gernot Döllner, CTO Rouven Mohr, Chief Sales Officer Marco Schubert, and Chief Creative Officer Massimo Frascella provide insights into the strategy, technology, and design of the Audi Nuvolari Nico Hülkenberg, driver for the Audi Revolut F1 Team “The Audi Nuvolari* looks really cool and unique. For me, what truly counts is the overall package — that is, how the car feels, how precisely it responds, and how well performance and drivability complement each other. The Nuvolari* really has a lot to offer.” “It’s exciting to see just how much potential this car has, and the power of the high-performance hybrid powertrain — with over 1,000 PS — is truly impressive.” Gabriel Bortoleto, driver for the Audi Revolut F1 Team “Running the Audi Nuvolari* at Nardò and working closely with the development team on the setup was a really great experience. What stands out immediately is how clean and predictable the car feels on turn-in. There’s basically no understeer, which is impressive given the level of performance. The balance stays very neutral and precise, giving you the confidence to carry speed through the corners. You can clearly feel how the different systems — especially the aerodynamics and torque distribution — work together as one. Overall, it’s a very complete package and a car that responds exactly the way you expect as a driver.” CEO Gernot Döllner “The Audi Nuvolari* brings pure emotion and performance to the road. It also reveals how we are taking ‘Vorsprung durch Technik’ into a new era.” “With the Audi Nuvolari*, we are accelerating technological progress and demonstrating that the company is picking up the pace — in development, decision-making, and innovation.” “Team spirit and the drive for continuous improvement place Formula 1 teams in pole position. This is exactly the mindset we are embedding at Audi.” Rouven Mohr, Member of the Board of Management for Technical Development “The Audi Nuvolari* is the first supercar from Audi with a high-performance hybrid powertrain and sets a new benchmark for ‘Vorsprung durch Technik.’ My personal highlights are the power of the high-performance hybrid powertrain, the active aerodynamics, and the world-first quattro predictive ride.” “The quattro drive is one of Audi’s most iconic technologies, representing traction, control, and driving dynamics in all conditions. With quattro predictive ride, we are defining the next generation of all-wheel drive. The system anticipates potential loss of traction based on highly precise sensor data and predictively coordinates the powertrain, brakes, torque distribution, and aerodynamics as an integrated system.” Marco Schubert, Member of the Board of Management for Sales and Marketing “The Audi Nuvolari* embodies uncompromising racing DNA — inspired by Tazio Nuvolari’s ability to continually redefine the limits of what is possible and translate technical excellence into performance.” “The Audi Nuvolari* appeals to customers for whom performance alone is not enough — but who also place great value on aesthetics, authenticity, and perfection.” “The Audi Nuvolari* is limited to 499 units — a highly exclusive collector’s item. The official pre-ordering in Europe is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026, but customers can already register their interest now.” Massimo Frascella, Chief Creative Officer “The Audi Nuvolari* embodies ‘Vorsprung durch Technik’ in its most visceral form: progress through technology. And for us, technology never exists for its own sake. It is always a means to an end. And that end must be emotion.” “The Audi Nuvolari* will be our first production model to express ‘The Radical Next’ as a new way of thinking. A philosophy built on the understanding that, at its best, Audi is an unmistakable combination of clarity, technicality, intelligence, and emotion.” “Every design decision has a clear purpose. Nothing is decorative. Our new identity is defined by the Vertical Frame — applied here for the first time on a hybrid model. The interior is a study in clarity and control. Everything supports the act of driving.”

Elegance and space: a first look inside the new Audi Q9
There are cars whose inner qualities say more than impressive performance data. Audi's first large full-size SUV is one of them. At the heart of the new Audi Q9 is a spacious, exclusive interior – conceived as a sanctuary for family, business, and long journeys. Behind its doors – which are electrically powered for the first time – Audi’s new flagship model offers up to seven seats, easy access to the third row, and a large, illuminated panoramic sunroof with switchable transparency. The new 4D sound system turns music into an immersive experience. The Q9 will be launched in around two months, but one thing is already clear: the journey begins the moment you step inside. “With the Q9, ‘Vorsprung durch Technik’ is increasingly defined by the in-car experience,” says Audi CEO Gernot Döllner. “Cars have long been much more than just a means of transportation; they are mobile living spaces for our customers. Premium materials, variable seating with individual electric seats in the second row, and automatic doors underscore the commitment to quality in our new, large full-size SUV.” Think big: seating designSpace is the defining feature of the Q9 – this is already evident in the seating design. For maximum business-class comfort, choose the optional six-seat layout. Here, the middle row comprises two electrically adjustable individual seats with active ventilation in the center panels of both the cushion and the backrest – a level of comfort typically found in business class. Up front, the lounge-like atmosphere of the new Q9 is enhanced by ventilation and massage functions in the sports seat plus. If you need to transport a large family, opt for the seven-seater model. All three seats in the second row can be fitted with child seats – a convenient feature making everyday life significantly easier for parents. As standard, all seats are partially power-adjustable. The third-row seatbacks can be folded down individually via electric controls – handy for anyone who needs to quickly switch between seating and storage space. Doors open at the push of a buttonFor the first time in an Audi, all doors can be operated electrically – a feature you’ll soon come to rely on. Whether with a key, the myAudi app, the MMI, the brake pedal, or the seatbelt buckle – opening and closing the doors is intuitive and effortless. Thanks to their wide opening angle, getting in is always easy, whether with heavy shopping bags or a stroller. Furthermore, an extensive set of surround sensors with obstacle detection stops the door if there is not enough room for it to open – especially useful in tight parking spaces. This feature can also help improve road safety, for example by detecting approaching cyclists or other road users. Panoramic sunroof for a special atmosphereThe panoramic sunroof creates an expansive, airy atmosphere. The standard panoramic sunroof in the Q9 measures approximately 1.5 square meters and can be opened wide for a true open-air experience. Those who prefer to keep the sun out can press a button to switch one or more of the nine individually controllable segments in the laminated safety glass to opaque for effective glare protection. The standard coated laminated glass reflects infrared light and blocks more than 99.5 percent of UV radiation. A conventional blind is no longer necessary. When the car is parked, the roof automatically turns opaque to prevent people looking in from outside. When the car is started again, the most recent setting is automatically restored. The top trim level also features illumination: 84 LEDs bathe the roof in one of 30 colors – matching the selected ambient lighting. Impressive lighting and sound designLighting sets the scene inside the new SUV. In every Q9, contour lighting in the dashboard and doors accentuates the width of the interior. Full and atmospheric illumination is standard for the front doors and available as an option for the rear doors. Indirect lighting beneath the Audi MMI panoramic display and in the center console creates a subtle floating effect. The dynamic interaction light (IAL) in the ambient light package plus is a continuous LED light strip that spans the full width of the interior and supports interaction between occupants and the vehicle. Audi optimally combines the interaction light with the updated Bang & Olufsen premium sound system with 4D sound. The IAL uses its “experiences” feature to sync with the rhythm of the music, creating an immersive experience by matching the color scheme to the track’s cover art. It builds on the previous 3D sound system with headrest speakers that enable personal phone calls, navigation prompts, and surround sound without acoustic distractions for other passengers. Actuators in the front seats add an extra sensory dimension to the experience, making music not only something you hear, but something you can physically feel. An extensive and versatile range of optionsAudi has curated a particularly harmonious and high-quality selection of materials and colors. For the Q9, the brand is expanding the range of interior options with new fabric and wood trims. Premium upholstery from wool such as alpaca fiber, Dinamica microfiber, leather and leatherette blends, and fine Nappa leather contribute to the elegant character of the Q9. The interior is further refined by decorative elements in fine grain ash natural, silk beige; lime structure natural, or carbon fiber weave with basalt gray accents. Color-coordinated trim elements throughout the cabin, along with the reduced use of glossy surfaces in favor of matte and textured materials, ensure a premium aesthetic and minimize fingerprints. New colors such as tamarind brown and stone beige round out the wide selection – ensuring a comfortable atmosphere to suit every taste. The result is an interior that exudes tranquility and sophistication. Generous storage and ample luggage spaceAudi’s largest SUV offers generous, thoughtfully integrated storage solutions. The redesigned, versatile center console provides not only flexibility but also modern charging options, with two wireless charging pads compliant with the Qi2.2 standard and USB-C charging ports delivering up to 100 watts. The wireless dual charger enables fast charging of two smartphones simultaneously. A new aluminum rail system integrated into the sides of the trunk allows users to secure cargo in three dimensions with sliding hooks and adjustable anchors, leaving the floor space free for larger luggage. A practical bonus: Audi includes a roof rack for the standard roof rails with every new Q9. The exclusive interior is just one aspect of the new flagship model. Audi will reveal the full potential of the Q9 at its world premiere in Summer 2026. Subject to change / final values will be available at the official start of communication in Summer 2026.

Event update from Beaulieu Motor Museum- 4 week road tour of Germany
Yes, will definitely enlighten you with the planned trip (when finances allow) and will definitely look forward to riding on roads that I have to concentrate so hard on avoiding obstacles and just enjoy the scenery. Was flashed in Germany but never got a ticket, in France I have been stopped and (illegally) fined by the corrupt police force there 😞 I will post in the Road Trips section as could do with kick-starting that one up again https://www.audiownersclub.com/forums/forum/87-road-trips/- 4 week road tour of Germany
Great write up Frank and thanks for sharing it with us I too have done a similar route on my motorbike through Ypres onto Black Forest and into Bavaria then Austria before heading into Italy.....what amazing roads is all that can be said and the views are second to none! Brings back some great memories and is strongly convincing me to plan another European road trip, thanks!- The end of my A6
Hi Steve, so sorry to hear of the demise of your Audi in such a bizarre way 😞 but at least no one was injured. Our neighbour had an A6 a few years ago that ended up in the neighbours hedge over the road, same thing....applied the handbrake, went indoors and only found it the next morning. One thing that surprised me was that the alarm had not activated (e.g. movement sensors, etc) when it was merrily rolling down the road or across the forecourt. On the subject of parts, it is not just Audi and cars in general, motorbikes are a leisure industry and therefore replacement bike parts are incredibly extortionate through the manufacturer. Luckily, there are many aftermarket suppliers for spares and can usually find the part at a bargain price through eBay and such like. But 'badge engineering' is rife and makes such as Ducati (who incidentally are owned by Audi, I believe) are off the scale when it comes to parts and servicing. Good luck with your search for a replacement car and it would be great to see you stay in the forums to continue imparting your knowledge to others. - Simply Audi - 14th July 2024
