Hi Febe...welcome to the Forum I'm not too sure about the A3 light switching but normally it should be straight back for convenience and safety as you don't want to be messing around trying to switch off main beam when a car approaches. I wonder if anyone else has this issue or maybe it is normal for a LHD vehicle (although can't imagine why)? As regards the lights shuddering, I believe I have read on here somewhere about loose light fittings so it may be worth checking to see if the light units and bulbs are physically secure in the housings. I think you have definitely gone the best route with by getting one of these devices.....saves messing around with the original audio system and provides a suitable input with just as much functionality as an OE system

Hi Robert...welcome to the Forum That's quite a dramatic reduction in MPG and I can understand the statement regarding running the engine in but even so, it should deliver quite a bit more than you are currently achieving. Fuel Consumption EC Urban (mpg)46.3 EC Extra Urban (mpg)56.5 EC Combined (mpg)52.3 Above figures are what Audi claim on their website. Hi George...welcome to the Forum I would not imagine that the Petrol mounts would be up to supporting the weight and demands of the Diesel engine, probably best to stick to the proper ones. Cheers Trevor

Hi David...welcome to the Forum I would imagine the battery would have been disconnected especially if the car was put in an oven following paintwork. If the SatNav wasn't removed for any reason during repair, I would be tempted to take it back in and mention it to them...they may not have refitted a power lead or fuse. Probably see what an independent car audio specialist would advise...not sure who would be in your area.

The usual fault is where the Variable Vanes within the Turbo gum up with carbon and rather than move into position to optimise the boost, they instead stick in the one position hence the fault code and limp home. Usually caused by smoking around town and not revving engine enough to keep the Vanes from gumming up. Hi Matt....welcome to the Forum Usually, if you select to avoid Tolls or Ferries it should respond accordingly, unless possibly your route is set to the quickest route and in which case I'm sure it should warn you of impending Tolls, etc. I'm sorry I can't be of any specific help here but this would be the stage where I would have to admit defeat and read the handbook. Hi...and welcome to the Forum That's quite a distinctive noise, as in it doesn't sound like hydraulic tappet rattle but more like a worn pulley or similar. Because of the sound being what appears to be rotational and also that it disappears once it's warm suggests that it should be checked out as soon as possible by a garage (stripping back covers, etc to check what it is) and in particular around the timing belt / chain area. Technology has moved on so much since they fitted this system as standard in the A4 Let us know how you get on with this Cheers Trevor

It does state that it is 'unbranded' but then states that it complies with all the Italian safety standards and it lists the comment below Be aware that quality is priceless, above all in reference to road safety! Not sure whether I'd fit it to be honest

Just a thought but it sounds like an obstruction in the runner and as it hits resistance it then backs off ?

Hi Charles....welcome to the Forum It sounds like the DPF filter from what you are describing. The usual cure for this is to blast it down the motorway in a low gear (maybe 3rd gear around 70 mph) but it may throw out some muck so maybe do it at night possibly? Hi Karl...welcome to the Forum Is the car predominantly driven around town or is it worked on long or fast journeys? Only, if it's smoked around town it leads to carbon build up in components such as EGR, injectors, piston rings...all of which can lead to the symptoms you describe. Running fuel additives to clean the engine and a good blast to clear it through may sort it. Let us know how this progresses. Cheers Trevor
