Hi Martyn...welcome to the Forum! I believe the gearboxes are okay as long as the fluid is changed frequently. There should be plenty of information available for specific tasks on the internet, alternatively ElsaWin is a great source of info (try eBay for a copy). Looking forward to reading your posts on here Regards Trevor - Admin

Hi John...welcome to the club! I would take it to a garage to have the fuel smell checked just in case it has a potentially dangerous leak, as it is a sealed system it should not create any vapour. Temp gauge fault should be easily diagnosed by the garage also. Regards Trevor - Admin

Audi A6 Avant SE 4.2 Quattro - Chains or belt
Audi Owners Club. replied to Stewart Townsend's topic in Audi A6 (C6) Forum
Hi Stewart...and welcome to the forum! Regarding your query on the timing belt / chain...both types of camshaft drive mechanisms have issues if not replaced after covering high mileages or missing services. Its certainly worth investigating further or even spending out at the offset to replace before failure occurs! I'm sure there are some members on here that could shine more light on reliability issues and what to look out for before buying. Best Regards, Trevor - Admin -
Hi...and welcome to the forum Sorry I can't offer any specific advice on the actual fault with the transmission but I hope some other members might have experienced and found a solution for this fault. The only advice I can offer is to look at any engine control issues as this can reflect on the drivability through the transmission (air mass meter for example affects the traction control system)...it's worth investigating for the time it takes to run a scan. Best Regards, Trevor - Admin

2006 q7 3.0tdi starting problem cold or hot
Audi Owners Club. replied to Siheaney's topic in Audi Q7 Club
sorry, by compression I meant engine compression which can be affected by engine oil quality. Other possible faults could be fuel pressure dropping slightly, probably best to run a scan on the engine to determine pressures, voltages, etc. For the cost of a scan by a reputable garage/specialist it would eliminate any guesswork and money ill spent. Good luck and let us know how you get on with it. -
Would advise checking the tyre pressure first....over inflated could cause this

Hi Jon try this link for the part you need http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Audi-A8-D2-A6-A4-A3-Folding-Mirror-Control-module-361-4A0907440-/131811921931?hash=item1eb09a500b:i:131811921931 plus you will probably need a switch http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AUDI-A4-B6-B7-ELECTRIC-POWER-FOLD-WING-MIRROR-SWITCH-CONTROL-KNOB-8E0959565A-/222005850803?fits=Car+Make%3AAudi|Model%3AA4|Cars+Year%3A2007&hash=item33b09472b3:g:eFgAAOSw1KxXMc3r These are a couple of examples but I'm sure there are cheaper ones in breakers yards Best Regards, Trevor - Admin

A3 2.0T FSI high pressure fuel pump bleeding- confused!
Audi Owners Club. replied to waj786's topic in Audi A3 (8P) Forum
In this instance, I would suggest removing the fuel pump fuse with the engine running and then turn over a few times to burn off any remaining fuel. Switch the ignition off & disconnect the battery. Allow the engine to cool before disconnecting any fuel lines. The fuel pump should then be depressurised enough to crack loose any fuel supply pipes and unions. Always remember to have suitable Fire precautions in place (extinguisher, etc) and no sources of ignition before working on fuel systems and work at your own risk. Here is a useful article to follow; http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/changing-hpfp-cam-follower-on-s3-8p.138827/ -
Hi Stuart, SAFE usually means the key(s) are not being recognised...make sure that the key(s) are for that car and it is paired to the vehicle (put key in ignition to pair). The drivers manual should have some additional information on this issue. Please let us know how you get on
