  1. Welcome Home Steve.....thanks for the excellent write up of your road trip, thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I always believe that liking cars is all well and good but it's also about driving them and not enough is written about road trips so always happy to read them. Glad everything went okay with the car and it all panned out okay....now to plan the next one :-)
  2. Hopefully just teething problems and should settle down after a while....if not it's an attention seeker :-(
  3. Nope, but if vibration can be felt and heard in the cabin then it would almost certainly be something that is rotating (engine balance, transmission, etc)....worth checking the Cam Timing?
  4. Hi Alex, not sure how to do exactly but maybe worth taking it to a specialist just in case you get it wrong and mess up the system. Usually, if you can do a comparison with the new one, e.g. seeing where the bolts are, etc then that may make it a little easier, but not knowing whether it needs to be removed in the open or closed position may result in extra hassle. If you are in Christchurch, Dorset then there is a really good automotive trimmer, Kevin Baggs in Sharp Road, Wallisdown http://www.kbaggstrimming.co.uk/ I'm sure he wouldn't charge much just to swap it over. Let us know how you get on with it Cheers Trevor
  5. Hi Davidas....welcome to the Forum Great looking Audi! Flooded ECU is standard on that model....have replaced one before and had to replace the wiring back to about 1foot back as the wire was dead (black in colour and no continuity). Worth checking the continuity from the connectors back to a known good point in the wiring and replacing any wires that are dead. Don't remember having to code anything afterwards though but maybe worth resetting the battery for it to recognise the system. Cheers, Trevor
  6. oh dear...what with British Airways messing up as well....probably better off doing road trips this summer
  7. Most excellent write-up Steve with some great piccies. Have been to Spa many times but never knew there was a Museum there....will pop in there on the way back from The Ring next month. Brussels is looking beautiful as always ..... glad your enjoying your road trip, I know I am :-)
  8. Would then suggest trying to source a pump from somewhere else and getting an independent garage to fit it....would be a lot cheaper in the long run
  9. Hi JoHanna...welcome to the Forum I would have thought it would be a warranty item as it is emissions related and not something that should break in normal service. Let us know how you get on with it Cheers, Trevor
  10. It would be easy enough to replace the steering wheel but you will first need to remove the airbag which will require special care. I'm sure there is some information in this forum about this mod...worth doing a search to see what comes up
  11. Hi Martyn....welcome to the Forum It would be worth checking out the driveshafts as if they're damaged or worn it could give you the vibration and also a knocking noise....also check wheel bearings Cheers Trevor
  12. sounds like it....is it still driveable or has it dropped that much?
  13. great end result but could have been a different outcome if you hadn't stuck to your guns....as Magnet has already said...there is no such thing as a free lunch!
  14. i would definitely persevere with trying to find an independent as the dealerships are charging way over the odds for the service
  15. I believe there is a need to programme it all in afterwards...there are quite a few threads in this forum about folding mirrors....give it a search as I'm sure someone did mention about the programming
  16. It does sound like the release bearing grinding into the clutch cover....usually when someone rests their foot on the clutch pedal and the working clearance is taken up and the bearing is forced to spin at engine speed rather than idle speed.
  17. Hi Mark A local VW Audi specialist repairer should be able to programme your key to the car for very little cost...not sure who there is in your area though
  18. Great review of your road trip so far Steve, and thoroughly enjoyable to read. Looking forward to the day at Spa review. Glad you're enjoying yourself mate, and you have such great weather as well.
  19. Hi Tony...welcome to the Forum As Steve has already said, it would be great to see some piccies of both Audi's Good to have you onboard Cheers Trevor
  20. That is a lovely colour and not one you see often. Lovely drive on the M25 was that because of the car or the lack of traffic jams? :-)
  21. Hi Alex...welcome to the Forum and welcome also to the dark side, hopefully you will grow to love Audi also Cheers Trevor
  22. lol....that was going to be my first guess :-)
  23. Hi John .... welcome to the Forum Looks like a lot of money on parts gone in there? Be great to have you on our stand at the show Cheers Trevor
  24. will have a look at better quality stickers for the next batch....maybe a different type to run alongside these ones....any thoughts?
  25. Here is the link for the event but not sure what Steve has planned regarding meeting up either there or en-route http://www.vagtuner.co.uk/
