  1. Hi Chris...welcome to the Forum http://www.audiownersclub.com/parts-results/80-90/Calipers--Parts/63717 There appear to be a few (probably reconditioned) calipers available through eBay via the above link. It would be really good to see an old Audi back on the road...and would be an awful shame to see it scrapped. Keep us informed on how you progress with it. Cheers Trevor
  2. Does the engine turn over but just not fire up? Could you take a photo of the same instrument panel but when the engine is turning over (if possible)
  3. Hi Aaron...welcome to the Forum Not sure about the real world mpg figures but there are reliability concerns where a lot of drivers tend to hammer it along motorways thinking its a 2.0 litre and prematurely wearing the engine. Around town driving, don't believe there are too many issues as it is mainly designed for that type of use and where it would deliver the best economy and driveability. I think it is a case of deciding what type of driving it would be subjected to therefore dictating whether a 1.4-litre petrol engine is the best way forward.
  4. Hi Kelvin....welcome to the Forum Superb looking car ! What MGs did you have? Cheers Trevor
  5. It could be located in the boot area and driven by remote cables?
  6. Hi Alun...welcome to the Forum It sounds like a great project, have you got much work to do on it? Cheers Trevor
  7. Hi Paul...welcome to the Forum Good to have you on here and look forward to reading your posts Cheers Trevor
  8. Hi Aidan...welcome to the Forum Have already seen this happening with other Audi's....the DPF filter light comes on after the remap. I would give it a good blast to regenerate....at least 10 miles at 70 mph in possibly third or fourth gear, as long as the revs are constantly over 3000 rpm or so (it should state the exact figures in your handbook)...be sure not to let the revs drop in this time frame as it has to go through the complete regeneration programme. That should hopefully then out the light out. Let us know how it goes. Cheers Trevor
  9. Hi Stuart...welcome to the Forum Could you pop up a photo of the connector to see what type it is....I think also they system needs programming to intergrate into the Symphony system. Hopefully some other members have encountered the same one on the TT and know exactly which way to go. Cheers Trevor
  10. Hi Kevin...welcome to the Forum If it's had the longlife service they should change the oil and filter as per a standard type of service but the intervals are longer due to the grade and quality of oil. Quote from a VW Audi specialist website: The Audi variable service regime has been made possible due to the development of new Audi engines with the latest technically advanced longlife oil. These engines use built-in sensors that continually monitor the oil quality, making it possible to enjoy maintenance and service free intervals for even longer. Cheers Trevor
  11. Hi...and welcome to the Forum I would say that you have an issue with resistances on the rear lights and may need a resistor pack in-line to sort that problem....worth looking on ebay for one. The key problem sounds like it could be that the key has lost it identification and it would be worth getting it into the garage again so they can scan it to find out the exact cause and hopefully only a case of recoding it to the vehicle. Let us know how you get on with it Cheers Trevor
  12. Hi Jason....welcome to the Forum It sounds like you need to have a cold shower and take stock of what you really need as opposed to what you would like I can however, totally understand your quandary...what a decision to make! I think an RS4 or RS6 would be an awesome purchase but with already owning the Lotus you may end up duplicating the performance and fun-factor element. Any of the cars you mentioned with either manual or auto trans would make a great Grand Tourer. Do let us know what you decide in the end...would be curious to know how you arrived at the decision Cheers Trevor
  13. It should be a simple enough job, just straightforward to fit I would think but you may need to align them afterwards and ensure the leveling system works okay. Let us know how you get on with it.
  14. Hi Mark...welcome to the Forum Wow! that's a humdinger of a fault. I think the first place I would go to is the engine oil and condition of the cylinders. Sounds silly but it would be the cheapest place to start before spending any more money on the car. If you look at the condition of the oil...is it washed-down with diesel fuel (i would be surprised if it wasn't after all the cranking over). If is stinks of fuel, then drain it and refill with correct grade. This can affect the cylinder compressions which will need to be at a high level to aid combustion so if diluted it will not achieve this. Also check the fuel filter and replace with another (quality and OE if possible) if in doubt. Again another cheap option to start with. If the filter or the filter head is drawing air, it will not draw fuel and then the system won't become active until it gets the required fuel pressure in the fuel rail/pump. Had this problem on a Nissan and changed the filter head...cured it! Let us know how you get on with it Cheers Trevor
  15. If you have a multimeter to hand, place the terminals on the battery and get someone to load up the electrical system by turning all the ancillaries on (air cond, high beams, heated rear screen, etc) that should then load the alternator (e.g. getting it to work hard to send current to the battery to keep it charged) and should produce a reading on the meter of around 14.4 volts. If the meter doesn't change much when the ancillaries are switched on/off then the alternator could be suspect. Check also the battery terminals are clean and secure. Also worth having the battery deep discharge tested by a garage as this will determine if it is on it's way out....it may be fine at the moment but it could be weaker than it should be hence the vehicle sensing it under load.
  16. Hi Chris...welcome to the Forum I would check the obvious like service history and replacement of routine maintenance components (belts, etc) and if it's been looked after then it sound like a great car to buy. Low miles for the year....thats always a good sign. Let us know when you've got it Cheers Trevor
  17. lol....tactical sulking...love it ! Sounds like you've got a great car there...pop up a picture of it if you like, would be great to see it.
  18. Hi Chris...welcome to the Forum Your car sounds like its quite modded then? Any chance you could post up a piccy of it, would love to see it. Cheers Trevor
  19. Both great looking cars...are you trying for 3 Audi's now Before I had an Audi, I think I had an MGZT which wasn't that reliable but looked great.
  20. Have you checked the earth wire/connection as well? If you have a poor earth then the voltage will read low also. try a substitute earth lead to test it first and then replace if necessary.
  21. Video clip from Audi on how to pair you mobile phone to your Audi communications system Audi_Phone_Pairing.mp4
  22. Also, try this method if above one doesn't work You will need BOTH remote key fobs to reprogram one or both of them. 1. Take the key you DO NOT want to reprogram and put it in the ignition. 2. Turn the ignition on but DO NOT start the engine. 3. Put the second key in the drivers door lock. Whilst it is in the lock press the UNLOCK button once only (the lights should flash on the car but the doors will remain locked). 4. With the second key still in the drivers door lock, unlock and then lock the door again. 5. Remove the key from the door lock. 6. Open the car and remove the key from the ignition. 7. Now test the key that you have reprogrammed, the one you have removed from the door lock. If both your remotes don't work, do all of the above for the first key, but at step number 3. press the UNLOCK button TWICE. The light will flash twice and then proceed onto step 4 and finish the procedure.
  23. Not sure which type you have but here is a selection http://www.audiownersclub.com/parts-results/A4-S4-RS4/Headrests--Armrests/174081
  24. I think all of the suggestions you have listed would assist in improving economy. Let us know how you get on with it all
  25. You should be able to get the adapter leads for the head unit and any brackets from Halfords to get it to fit your car but not sure what functionality you will lose by changing it. You could also try one of these as another member in the A6 section has gone for one as an alternative to play music through the standard system http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141644377412?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&utm_source=AudiOwnersClub&utm_medium=ForumLinks&utm_campaign=referrals
