Perhaps this could be a suspension issue like a little piece of spring has snapped off or a shock has suddenly failed? Either way, it needs inspecting because it's definitely not right.
-
MAGNET is right; if the tracking is out the tyres will wear unevenly, but at 4000 miles this could be difficult to identify. Most places off a free tracking check. Without driving the car, it could be either the tyre misshapen or needs balancing. Otherwise it's something more sinister. I personally wouldn't leave this too long, but rule out the basics first.
-
Does this occur at certain speeds as weighted imbalances will be more noticeable at a given frequency?
-
What do you mean "set to mid level rather than comfort"? You should inflate according to the recommended pressure for your loading condition as stated on the door plate. And yes, if the tracking is out your car can pull to a side. Get it checked.

Your original post asks "is this normal or should I be concerned" You get some solid advice, then come back quoting from the manual stating "usage is less than the manual says" Are you now happy or still consider there's an issue?

A guy I work with got the free MOT thing with an extended Warranty (in Cambridge I think) and they said he needed a tyre. They wanted something like £290 which was almost double what he could've got it for independently, but Audi wouldn't let him take the car on the grounds it was illegal to drive. And they refused to take it out of the workshop to accommodate him getting a mobile tyre fitter to change it.

I can empathise with finding a trustworthy garage. I don't have much experience with the B9 models having owned one for not much more than 5 months but my research suggests the catastrophic failure you're concerned about is very very unlikely. And if you did extend the warranty, how much of the cost would Audi actually cover? You might be better off keeping the money in your bank for the what if 🙂 Perhaps you could get Audi to do the servicing you mention, and leave it there. At least you have some go back if the unlikely happens. The cambelt is however a year overdue (it's whichever comes first of 5 years or 75k miles), so don't leave it much longer

In my opinion, once a car is outside the manufacturers standard warranty period, spending obscene amounts on keeping up dealership service history is a waste of money. The VAG specialist I take our cars to charge £130 for an oil and filter change, and £490 for the cambelt, water pump and auxiliary belt (A5 B9) which included a loan car for the duration. I only pay for whichever of 18,600 miles or 2 years is sooner because the VAG specialist updates the digital service record, so I'll typically be doing an oil change myself (or take them to a trusted garage) at the 9,300 miles and 1 year interval because of relative mileage/usage difference of both cars. When the cars reach 100k miles I generally care less about the digital record but still keep up with the proper service schedule because in my experience, anyone buying a car with >100k miles cares less about full dealership service history.

What style are they? I like these: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/175365832226?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=HaJLmSMMSjC&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=BbKs5X6FTgi&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/313981956630?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=_oUNxcpNQ9G&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=BbKs5X6FTgi&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY I think however black rims would look better on my car.

Ah yes. I'm running 245/40 R18 How do you find the 19s? I'm considering putting a set on mine 🤔
-
This is a very good point. I was surprised by the higher pressure going from A4 B8 to A5 B9 - definitely something to check. Are those pressures for extra load tyres and full occupancy?
-
Stock S Line there's a crome strip running across the full width of the bumper, and from a distance it kinda raised the front, so I've covered it with vinyl wrap - very subtle.
-
No prize but what's different on the front bumper (honeycomb grill excluded) on this S Line compared to a stock S Line? 🤔 😃
-
I had this on my A5 Resolved by increasing the button press time to 2 seconds with VCDS I think default was something like 600ms lol
-
Have you considered connecting your phone via Android Auto/Apple Play and using Google Maps instead?
-
I went through Michelin, Pirelli, Khumo and other bands on my A4 B9 before staying with Goodyear Eagle AS3 (now 5) I got 17-20k miles on the front and they feel great. My A5 came with a brand new set of the GY so I've got something to compare ahead of replacing.
-
This could help. I'd say it's in exactly the same place as the attached manual extract

Second the MPG comments here 😀 I'm getting high 70s from my A5 190 Ultra over a 40 minute drive of A roads

My Audi is Daytona grey and there were a couple of things that I didn't like with the overall look; for this topic it was the rear diffuser colour and asymmetric exhaust tailpipe. Ideally I would have fitted a twin exhaust pipe to create the symmetry, but that's not possible without an AdBlue delete which I didn't want to do. So, I decided to have the rear diffuser painted gloss black and the tailpipes too, so to lessen the imbalance. The diffuser was painted professionally at a local body shop. I did the tail pipes myself by first leaving them overnight in a litre of Hydrochloric Acid 35% to remove the chrome plating, washed them with a detergent and brake cleaner, before spraying with a can of Simoniz Gloss Black Engine Enamel. Very pleased with the outcome.

I'll summarise, otherwise this thread may be more confusing: Audi prices will always be more expensive, so unless there's a warranty concern, find a recommended indi and save yourself some money. The "better and Best" from the list I posted are all made by TMG friction (apart from Pagid), so buy whichever brand suits your budget.
-
I'll call the garages next week to see what brands they use these days, as most of their VAG parts come from TPS.
-
I must be lucky because 'Ive used Pagid for over a decade with not one issue. Why are they not considered ok?

Found it! Post in thread 'Mintex or pagid' https://forums.mercedesclub.org.uk/index.php?threads/mintex-or-pagid.175907/post-1723091
