  1. Thank you all for your comments, suggestions and experiences. So far, local Audi dealer verbally told me a 7 year extended warranty exists, so having paid a small fortune to get a independant towing service to drop the car to them, its with Audi now and i can pay for the privelege to get it checked. After that, either they accept or dont, will know in 72 hours as per what the dealership told me. Im hoping they dont screw up and destroy the main battery during the checking process. H
  2. Hello Everyone Thank you for your help. Very sorry to read of all your problems, but happy for those who got it sorted by Audi. Few things ive read that are concerning: Audi unwillingness to acknowledge the fundamental problem. Ive called Audi UK, 3 different dealerships all with no clear knowledge of the extended warranty. The hit and miss approach and action by dealerships is frustrating and shows lack of customer aftercare. I cant be waiting weeks and weeks for an answer and then more weeks for the repair. So have decided to repair direct with good mechanics at our cost and then try to pursue audi for reimbursement, on the basis that they fully acknowlwdge their is a major problem with the design and alternator. Interesting to read all your comms with aufi uk, audi europe, bbc, etc. So will aim to collate everything and send my own letter. Will aim to gather all details, names reference on this forum as evidence of a major problem. Cant say when i will get it done, but i will, feel for you all. Wishing you the best of luck on getting problems resolved. Hx
  3. Hello Been advised my alternator has gone and its a known issue with the hybrid battery. Im based in the UK, Kent. How can i track down the correct document from Audi, confirming they have an extended 7 warranty to cover this major problem? Some dealerships are pleading ignorance. I cant be waiting weeks for an answer as we desperately need our car back on the road. Can anyone help or guide me where to look please or send a pdf of the document on this forum so we can share etc. Thanks.
  4. Yes initial diagnostic check by a mechanic friend said it the alternator. A proper diagnositic person due to check it next week, with the aim of initially saving the 42/44volt battery as that replacement could be approx £4k! He will also check for software updates and if any outstanding which should have been done by Audi direct. New alternator looking at £3k for parts and labour, the part is a horrible £1400-1700 roughly. Been trying to do more research on the matter in the USA (attached) plus anything else relevant to the UK. Having spoke to the garage mechanic and a rescue towing service, they both informed me that they have seen plenty of these problems, its something that is happening due to the battery system not being suitable or is overly complicated. So...can all Audi owners please check you are not due for a software update in the first instance, plus check what type of system you have to ensure you do whatever necessary to protect against major damage. Please do not get into the mess im about to face.
