Finally picked the A1 up great car. The Drl bulb is a 380 wedge,it looks like a standard 501 side light bulb but 10 times the size,in the owners manual it calls the bulb a W21W. Apparently vauxhall use the twin element version in there cars because they are simply not good enough to suss out a voltage drop from drl to side light Ike in th A1's. Through the day when no lights are on the switch for the lights is illuminated and also the heater control dials, heated rear window and esp buttons, Can any one tell me if this is standard, may be the light switch yes but the dial not so sure.

Spoke to a few mechanic friends and they told me to keep away. Found this forum, this says it all to me and confirms every thing i have been told about the "software update" http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/news/volkswagen-emissions-scandal/8-reports-of-volkswagen-tiguans-losing-power-after-ea189-emissions-fix/ Scroll down to read what owners have posted,a nightmare for some.

Just had a letter telling me to book my car into my nearest Audi dealer to have this emission problem sorted. Ive got an Audi A4 S Line SE 2011 with 44k on the clock.Im so impressed with its mpg snd preformance. My issue is ive heard of so many bad things about this, bad mpg,bad preformance and am very dubious of taking it in. Can any one advice me on whats the best corse of action regarding this recall. Has any one had it done and if so what was the out come. Many thanks.

Thanks Trevor. Looking into it in more detail i think they are a 582 bulb,a 21watt version of the 5 watt 501 which is just about in every car,a common bulb indeed. Can conferm this after i pick thd car up next week. Will up date then .

Got my eye on an nice black A1 1.6 diesel 5 door for the wife. Nice spec but standard halogen head lights. Can any one tell me what type of buld is used for the drl's as they are a standard halogen one and would like to put some led upgrades in it if i make a purchase.Possibly some Ring premium 's ,as i was impressed with the H11 ones i put in my A4 front fogs.
-
Got some ring premium h11 led's for my front fogs, very pleased with them, very close to looking like my xenon head lights. http://www.ringautomotive.com/uk/content/led-bulbs

A friend of mine who works for ford told me about a guy he knows who took his A3 in and the car was never the same. He told me it was down on power and mpg. Ive got my letter from Audi just stating every thing is on going and will get back to me. My A4 is running great regarding mpg and power so as far as iam concerned they can leave well alone.

Took a fog out to see if would adjust and could see a slight movement Put the standard h11 bulb back in and with my car pointing at my fence could adjust it up and down. Put the led back in but no adjustment. As an halagen bulb is one big ljght as it were and an led is a direct light in just one direction thats why i could not adjust it. Never the less its a cracking light compared to the standard bulb, just have to see if i blind other motorists when turning,if so will have to put the normal H11 bulbs back in.

Yes same for both lamps. Will take them out for a better look while turning the adjuster A good suggestion regarding some sort of packaging , maybe a couple of washers on the top screw. Thanks for your input much appreciated .

Just activated the front fogs to come on when cornering using vagcom . As a result of this i have up graded the H11 front fog bulds to some ring led ones to try and match the xenon head lights. They look very good copared to the standard "yellow" ones but very bright 6500k. I have tried turning the adjuster screw which is a 7mm allen key through the fog light surround left and right but nothing happens. They need to be lowered a fraction i think so im not blinding any drivers when turning when the main head lights are on. Any one got any ideas what i might be doing wrong or is a lot of turns for a small adjustment .

Playing music from iPhone 5 on 2011 Audi A4 Technik
Steve1 replied to Jarlath's topic in Audi A4 (B8) Forum
Look on the unit itself, mines got an sd card slot. Im using an 8gb micro cd card with adapter to make it into a sd card plus a 4gb usb stick connected to an AMI usb cable, the same one in Tramman 1 pic. It was about a tenner from ebay, abit of a gamble i first thought but works great so can select betwwen usb or sd. My 2011 sline se has got bluetooth for phone but not for bluetooth audio, this may have been an optonal extra but ive been told the current A4's have it as standard if that is correct. -
James do you have the badges on the A5..? Got to admit i have never seen an A5 4.2 fsi coupe only a 2.0 diesel round my area it must be ballistic, nice.!
-
Was not aware Audi offer that option James but nice of them to give you an option of badge deletion. Must admit i do prefer my car without the badges, but if they were already on the car when i got it i would be reluctant to remove them to be honest.
-
Looking at the spec the sline se also has the rs4 19 inch alloys on. This car in the link is more or less the same as mine but all my windows are tinted plus genuine audi mud flaps that in my opinion finish the car off. One thing i have noticed with the car in the link is that on mine i have no badges on the rear ie the a4 and tdi badges and from what i hwve read this was some sort of european spec, but who knows. http://www.motors.co.uk/car-40627726/sp

On our reg check at work sline se also same at tps, sline special edition. Seen afew for sale and thats what tempted me to the car in the first place.
-
Can any one tell me the difference between a 2011 A4 S-Line and a A4 S-Line SE both 2.0 diesel's. The only difference i can tell is the led rear lights on the SE but i may be wrong.
-
Totally agree James. The tubes there but no dipstick ,a strange one indeed but as you say nice to have a manual check. May be the tube is there for the benefit of the Audi technicians when the cars in for service so they can use the "holy dipstick" lol.
-
The part number James is the one in the technical details on the link you sent from Amazon. Exactly the same one i got from the ebay guy 03L115611E. The company i work for has an account with TPS so i paid about £7.50 + vat obviously a trade price so Amazon and this Ebay guy seem to be making a healthy profit, but nothing wrong in that i guess. Regarding the dipstick my brother purchased a 1.8 TT middle of last year and i got him the same dipstick to replace his broken one and orange dipstick tube that fails.
-
The bottom mark now on the dip stick was originally the max mark.Hope ive explained this thoroughly enough.
-
I purchased one from tps and cut it under the maximum mark which now comes the minimum mark as higher up the dip stick there is a moulded plastic bit on the wire its self that now is the max mark. It fits great as before i cut it it was too long but now i have a physical mark to work off.

This may be of some help regarding sat nav. https://shops.audi.com/en_GB/web/accesorios/communication/navigation
-
Its a 2011 A4 S-Line 2.0 tdi special edition with 40k on the clock with full Audi service history. I hope James as you mentioned it was just a case of bad luck as i dont really expect any issues for quie along time due to age and mileage. A good blast on the motorway now and then should keep the dpf in check but only time will tell.
-
Bizarre all the same not being able to purchase a dipstick but being able tl purchase the tube it goes in,strange.
-
No they told me only the dipstick tube is available but a friend of mine has been told while servicing Audi's the Audi mechanics have a "work shop dipstick" they use so they are not in and out of cars checking oil evels on the screen. So much quicker and efficient i think than having to be in and out every two seconds.

I got a 12 month warranty, hope i dont need to use it but if any thing else was to fail hope its pretty sooner than later.
