  1. Hi Trevor, We saw some racing going on but only sneak peeks from the bridge leading into the main complex, Porsche racing, but the sound was lovely. We were really intrigued with the rollercoaster that seemingly loops around and goes THROUGH the inside of the complex with the shops/cafes etc?! Nurburg itself was very sleepy, we had a couple of decent beers and schnitzel in the Paddock Cafe which is just along the road from the GP circuit towards the Nordschleife. The atmosphere was nice, almost every conceivable nationality around, and a real buzz to the place. Thoroughly enjoyed the trip and experience though, the Eiffel forests around there are just stunning! Fortunately we got some decent weather on the Saturday with a nice dry track, the Sunday was gloomy and started to rain around midday so cut the day short for the drive back to Ghent. Would certainly go again though, was my first ever 'track day' accepting that it wasn't actually a track day, and was a real thrill. The Audi worked nicely around the track, I'm not sure how it will perform on a smaller nippier track, ive got a A6 Avant 3.2 Quattro, and whilst it pulls nicely, it's not got the handling of a tight A4 etc. Spa looks great though, and glad to hear that it's potentially an even better experience that Nurburg. Pricey though per lap it seems, but worth it for the experience, and again I'm sure the Ardenne is gorgeous and makes for a fantastic drive to/from Spa. Overall I enjoy driving around Europe, we've driven to Spain a few times as a family, and just come back from south of France - not Paris though, that was a nightmare! Cheers, Andy
  2. Hello mate, Spa is going to be my next destination I think, what did you think of it? I drove over to Nurburgring last month and spent a couple of days pootling around the Nordschleife, what an amazing place! Really excellent fun!
  3. Hi all, I have a 2006 A6 Avant - it has bluetooth functionality (if your aerial is a shark fin then I believe generally you will have bluetooth). But this will only allow you to connect your phone to make calls, however, not play music. With mine, I had a 6 CD changer in the glove box. I downloaded the updates for the MMI online, and updated the MMI system. I then replaced the cd changer with an AUDI AMI unit from eBay, (part no. 4E0 035 785 B). This literally took 5 minutes. Once this is done you can select Audi Multimedia Interface when you press the 'Media' or 'CD/TV' button. I then bought a Tune2Air 2000 bluetooth device from ebay. With an Audi AMI ipod cable, this plugs directly into the AMI unit. You then connect to this receiver via bluetooth, and it streams the music from your phone/ipod/whatever (iTunes, Spotify etc) through the stereo. Tracklisting will appear on the MMI screen for most devices, and tracks can be skipped with the < and > buttons. All works perfectly, probably cost me about £500 to buy the bits I needed. I essentially followed this guide...https://a6retrofit.com/ami-retrofit-audi-music-interface/ you will see you can keep the CD changer installed if you wanted to, but I can put any CDs I want onto an iPod, and together with Spotify on my phone I didn't really see the need for it anymore. I can therefore simultaneously have my Samsung phone connected to the car to make calls, and the Tune2Air to stream music through the stereo. They work together nicely, with phone calls interrupting the playback etc as it should.
  4. Don't mean to sound like a proper newbie - but what are the angel headlights? I've got a 2006 model with the xenon headlights, but the daytime running lights are a standard 'yellow' halogen bulb next to the headlights. Would ideally like to either replace the halogen bulbs with a bluer LED bulb, or replace the whole light unit to have the xenons and the 'bar' daytime running lights which are across the bottom of the unit. So this.... Instead of this, which I have right now (me at the Nurburg btw :oP )
  5. Hi all, When I got my A6 2006 Avant it had the 6 CD changer in the glove box. I had bluetooth function for the phone (if you had one of the shark fin aerials on the roof I believe that generally means you have bluetooth connectivity) but doesn't have media functionality, you can just make calls. I bought an AMI unit from eBay, (part no. 4E0 035 785 B), and replaced the CD changer - took 5 minutes. (I had already updated the MMI software to the latest versions with CDs I burned from the internet). I then bought a Tune2Air bluetooth device from ebay. With an Audi AMI ipod cable, this plugs directly into the AMI unit, streams the music from your phone/ipod/whatever (iTunes, Spotify etc) through the stereo. Tracklisting with appear on the MMI screen for most devices, and tracks can be skipped with the < and > buttons. All works perfectly, probably about £500 in total to do the work.
  6. Bump - after a few unfortunate timewasters, my Audi is still for sale if anyone is interested... Thanks! Andrew
  7. Many thanks James - reluctant to let it go, but the wife insists!!
  8. Hello all, I currently own an A6 Avant, 3.0 TFSI engine, Quattro drivetrain with S-Tronic auto gearbox, S-Line trim with Technology Pack and Comfort Pack. Full S/H - just serviced and MOT'd two weeks ago @ 36,000 miles. The full advert is on autotrader at present…http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201603011527490 I won’t bore you with all the intricate details as you guys know more about Audi’s than most, but this car is the top of range A6 avant model, the 3.0 V6 supercharged engine delivers 300PS, and 0-62mph in 5.3 seconds, it has sport mode and launch control which create truly astonishing acceleration for a car of this size. Paddle gear shift on steering wheel for semi-auto mode, making this car seriously fun and exciting to drive. Sports suspension. Full valcona leather trim inside, heated seats, heated multi-function 3 spoke steering wheel with voice activation for sat nav and phone etc. Tech pack – MMI High, with MMI Touch - touch sensitive pad beside gear selector, letters/numbers can be 'drawn' with finger. Larger sized full colour LED monitor with DVD player in the front, Audi Connect to access internet searches for news, weather, parking searches etc, and google maps overlay for the sat nav. Full colour dash display behind steering wheel for sat nav, speedo, and all the usual. DAB Radio. HDD for Audi ‘Jukebox’, music can be saved directly to hard drive in car. Advanced parking system - Front forward and both front corner cameras, and rear backward and both rear corner cameras, automatically activated when parking system is engaged (when car is in reverse or button pressed on dash) and shown on LED display. Comfort pack – full electronically adjustable front seats, heated. Drivers seat has memory function, can be set with preset buttons on drivers door, or programmed to the two individual Advance Keys, wing mirror positions can also be saved. Sports seats, very comfortable. Tailgate electrically operated, opened and closed from inside car, or with button on Advance Key, or button on tailgate. Audi first aid kit in rear armrest, with ‘ski hatch’. Full Xenon Plus headlight system. Rear LED lights. It is a beautiful car, and very hard to get hold of with the TFSI petrol engine, but it blows the socks off any other engines on offer, apart from the V8 S and RS models of course. Engine can be tuned by Revo or other reputable company – Revo worked extensively with this very engine model and have built their software around it – only reason I didn’t get it done is that when I took it to VAS in Guildford last year it turned out that Audi had upgraded the onboard software before I picked it up, and Revo hadn’t had a chance to map the upgrade yet, so missed out. Only selling as getting an Audi company car through work, and can’t justify keeping hold of it, plus there isn’t room on the drive! Had some interest through Autotrader, but wanted to open it up to serious Audi lovers who will actually appreciate the car for what it is. Priced to sell - £25,000. Thanks! Andy
