  1. Welcome Bruno, and thanks for joining. Are you considering buying an a 2016 A4 then? If so, and you want to check on its service history, then simply visit ( not phoning or e-mailing)your nearest main dealer and enquire there. Arm yourself with the VIN ( available from the seller) in case needed. Have you checked the DVLA Vehicle Check to establish when the last V5 was issued . Can be an indicator of short term ownership by the previous keeper - potentially not good. Also have you checked the on-line MOT history? Kind regards, Gareth.
  2. Any progress Leighton?
  3. Hello James, You appear to have joined and posted on the same day - November 28th, and don’t appear to have returned since. Do you have any update for us please?
  4. Any update Leo?
  5. Many thanks Amelia, Well worth putting on the back burner in terms of the worry file. It’s not uncommon for a variety of things to go wrong, and very often I find I just can’t worry about the latest one for a couple of months, because I’m currently too busy worrying about other thing! Take care, and have a great Christmas. Kind regards, Gareth.
  6. Apologies for contra opinion, but it’s not unusual for door mechanisms and electrical plug connectors to motors and locks to be different from year to year, within the same model range, leave alone from pre to post facelifts. In my book, I would move forward with extreme caution, and probably accept a different colour door from your model year and get it sprayed - at some point, you could regret not doing that. On the other hand, it might all work out, but between those two will be a lot of homework. Kind regards, Gareth.
  7. Thanks James, Without Googling ‘Fenton’, could you confirm you are located in USA ? Are you taking your ‘engine oil, inc. filter’ capacity direct from your owner’s handbook? Did you remove the oil by draining or by suction? Do you have a dip stick as opposed to just a digital oil level indicator? For either, what are the indicated current levels? Kind regards, Gareth.
  8. Hello Amelia, Sorry to hear of your issue. The fact is, you can pontificate, assume, guess, the outcome between now and the time the fault is found. Hard fact is:- the car is currently unroadworthy, and it has to be fixed, and someone has to eventually pay. Priority will be to get the car booked in without delay ( good luck with that!). It could be as simple as a blocked filter in the pump/s so worth looking on the bright side. Meanwhile, carry a supply of multi surface cleaner bottles filled with washer fluid to be able to stay as safe as possible in these conditions. Warranties?? always a topic for discussion, but the devil is in the detail, and the detail has to be read, but seldom is! If you work on the assumption ( now it’s catching!) that warranty companies are very experienced in getting under a snake’s belly with a top hat on, to avoid paying, then you will not be too surprised at the outcome. Perhaps you could keep us up to date Amelia. Kind regards, Gareth.
  9. Hello Chris, By what I can see, the flexible hose end is unserviceable rusty and should be replaced. Others?? Replacing parts of brake lines by piecing in is not a practice I would endorse. I really think this shouldn’t be a case of ‘ not doing any more than I need to…’ , but one where the job is carried out thoroughly, to best ensure your and other road users safety. Kind regards, Gareth.
  10. Hello again Lisa Our posts overlap. As stated, please list it on here. Private sales and comebacks? We can advise you on suitable wording to minimise that risk. Test drives? Is the car currently taxed and MOTd and insured for you to drive. Policies can lapse when the policy holder dies, so you would need to check on that. Wise to take a male neighbour or friend with you. Getting a good price? Perhaps being pessimistic, but obtaining a ‘good price’ will limit the number of interested buyers. In my opinion, you would be better off biasing this to a quick and uncomplicated sale. I think we should be able to advise you at any stage Lisa. Your Dad’s neighbour is right in some respects re club, but worth bearing in mind that members on here already own Audis, whereas you need to sell to someone who hasn’t got one. Take care Lisa. Kind regards, Gareth.
  11. Thanks Lisa, You are very welcome to advertise it on here - just take some photos and you can then list it. No charge and really nothing to lose. Kind regards, Gareth.
  12. Thanks for coming back to us Mark, and without being patronising, I really feel for the plight you are in - very much at the wrong time of the year, particularly since you did the right procedural thing in getting the cambelt changed. Why it should suddenly jump a third of a turn? Almost certainly too slack, and with additional strain on a cold morning, the belt simply jumps. Did your garage confirm that the waterpump bearing was still serviceable, and similarly with the belt tensioner and idler, and was the tensioner adequately secured to the engine block? Was the auxiliary drive belt renewed at the same time? Apologies, since the above will only give you an indication of why it may have failed - but obviously no consultation. Way forward, What mileage has this 6 year old car covered Mark. As said, you have two or three choices:- Cut your losses and sell the car on EBay as a non runner. Get a garage to remove the cylinder head and assess the actual damage. You can then decide on your next course of action, which could be finding a secondhand head, or engine. Sorry I can be more helpful at this stage Mark, but please come back to us, and we will attempt to advise at any or all stages. Kind regards, Gareth. p.s. Why not take this up with the garage who fitted this belt some 14 months ago.
  13. Good morning Mazeed. Welcome to the forum. Saying it as I see it, with apologies, but you are asking a poster to give you information on a thread which goes back 7 years, and she now/did then live on a Scottish island! Based on the brief information you give us, you are seeking advice about currently spending considerably in excess of the seven year old quote of £450 to instal heated seats in your 18 year old A3 -? Sorry, to be dismissive, but it all sounds rather unreal. Perhaps you have a very valid reason for posting, that you may like to share. Kind regards, Gareth.
  14. OK Mark, Let’s keep this as simple as possible:- Allow this garage to retime the belt positioning, then retest the compressions. If still no compression then, find another garage who will remove the cylinder head to establish what is wrong. I would put the ‘secondhand’ engine considerstion on the back burner until the above has been carried out. We will support you through this as best we can. Kind regards, Gareth.
  15. Are these your insurers or the third party insurers?
  16. Welcome Lisa and thanks for joining. First things first - can we pass on our condolences for your Dad’s passing. Not an easy time - they only give us one, so always bad news. A couple or so pointers to hopefully help with your query:- Main dealers will not be interested in the car (as good as it may be), since in general, they do not retail vehicles over 5 years old. If they are going to buy it off you, it will be at a price low enough to resell it into their trade contacts at a profit, so really no point in perusing that route. Ways forward:- Enter the details into Parker’s Guide, and you will come up with a ball park valuation for an average mileage car sold privately. If you want a ‘mileage adjusted’ quote, then I believe you have to pay. Worth doing that?? Search EBay and Autotrader for similar year examples, building up a picture of a number of valuations, some of which might be for lower mileage examples. It is worth noting that (unless you are very lucky) you are unlikely to sell the car at prices that dealers are asking, since yours will not be sold with any warranty. Apologies for being pessimistic, but you are trying to sell very much at the low demand end of the year., and the car will effectively be a year older by the end of the month. Another disposal route could be via. the Motorway advertising route, or similar. I don’t have any experience of this, but you could investigate. On a brighter note, such low mileage cars normally find homes among family and friends, and as such tend not to spread out to the wider market. Anyway Lisa, please come back to us if you think we can help further, or if you wish to advertise it on here. Many thanks and kind regards, Gareth.
  17. You should not have a problem then John. Simply report the issue to the insurers and let them sort it out with the repairer. Can we take it you have reported the accident to your insurers, and if so, do you have legal cover with your policy? Kind regards, Gareth.
  18. Hello James, I’m pleased my suggestion is working for you. If your turn out to be as good as mine were, you will be very pleased with them, since mine were identical to what I would have expected from a main dealer supplied ones - except for not having the very expensive label stuck on the packaging. Re. Audi original ones - you should be able to twist someone’s arm and perhaps get a7% discount on dealer supplied ones! Please let us know what you think of them when they arrive James. Kind regards, Gareth.
  19. Welcome John, Sorry to hear of your issue. Was this work undertaken on behalf of your insurers? Kind regards, Gareth.
  20. Far easier to give them a ring.
  21. Any update David?
  22. Appreciating the sensor was ‘for this model’ , but what make was it, and are you going to do an actual oil pressure test on the engine?
  23. Am I missing something here, but what do injectors have to do with maintaining coolant temp? Kind regards, Gareth.
  24. Welcome John, Have you checked with Thule?
  25. Try Aliexpress. I bought a set for a non-Audi and was very pleased with them and the fitting. Let us know how you get on James. Kind regards, Gareth.
