  1. Hello Steven, My opinion ( and hope there will be others):- Electrically operated gauges are generally very reliable, and it’s quite rare that they are the source of problems. They are really just ammeters, fed varying resistances by a sender unit. You say you have renewed the sender, and could you confirm that it was from a reliable source and brand? Have you checked wiring and connections? Have you connected a working (mechanical type) oil pressure gauge to where the sender goes, to establish you have got reasonable oil pressure? Kind regards, Gareth.
  2. Many thanks Steven, Could you let forum members know why you want to remove the handbrake cover? Kind regards, Gareth.
  3. Thanks, Could you confirm that the coolant temperature gauge reaches 90 within about 3 miles, and holds that reading for the rest of the journey? Sorry to point this out, but I guess the above quote will be plus VAT?? Kind regards, Gareth.
  4. Can we take it you aren’t going to respond Mo?
  5. Thanks Ian.
  6. Well you can live in hope.
  7. Thanks Ian, Perhaps you could do us a favour and Like the post and fill in your model and year on the profile.
  8. No problem John, Even easier then, hopefully they can do it and save yourself a job. Could you please ask them to do us a kindness and feed back to yourself, so we can then close the thread off. Kind regards, Gareth.
  9. Thanks Michael, Are you ordering a new Audi starter (at great expense!). If not, you may find your replacement may not last as long as your occasionally used hammer shaft!
  10. Worth trying Parts in Motion. Kind regards, Gareth.
  11. Simple answer Chris - No. If the car is fitted with a gauge and it doesn’t reach and hold 90 degrees -albeit taking longer in this weather - then there is something wrong, like partly open thermostat. Kind regards, Gareth.
  12. Thanks John, Probably straight from the University of the Bleeding Obvious, but why not just take one of your wheels off and try it in the well? Space Savers not being to your liking John - hopefully won’t be needed, and when is, will only be for a short time, and is far more practical option to gunge and a compressor. Might be worthwhile asking yourself :- how many 4 year old Audis fitted with the spacer saver option are on the road, where the spare hasn’t moved out of the well? Perhaps you could let us know if your full size wheel does fit the well without any adjustments John. Kind regards, Gareth.
  13. Welcome John, Wondering why you want to fit a full size wheel ( which doesn’t sound feasible - and you don’t tell us the size of your wheels) as opposed to fitting a space saver? Kind regards, Gareth.
  14. How did you get on with this Charlie?
  15. Hello David, Would you be kind enough to up date us on this, so others can benefit from your experience. Many thanks and kind regards, Gareth.
  16. Sorry Seyed I don’t know what the fuel temperature should be, but probably Stevey Y will. Kind regards, Gareth.
  17. Hello Seyes, I too would go along with the fact that the coolant temperature should rise to 90 degrees within about 3 miles, and - importantly - stay gauge stable at that temperature through the journey. Who at the dealership told you that gauge variance is normal? An actual technician, or a Service receptionist? Kind regards, Gareth.
  18. Hello Mark, I’m really sorry to hear of your issue. If it were mine, I would attack this from the logical stance of getting the compressions tested as the first task. If the belt has slipped (and let’s hope it hasn’t) then carrying out a compression test on each cylinder is not going to cause any more damage than has already been done. If the belt hasn’t slipped then carrying out the compression test will give essential information before moving on to other non starting possibilities. Perhaps you can keep us up to date on what occurs. Kind regards, Gareth.
  19. Welcome John, Seems like your ‘back up’ now needs to be re-coded to action all its operations. Kind regards, Gareth.
  20. Thanks Ian, Have you got your exclamation button automatically logged in by any chance?
  21. Any update for us Marcus?
  22. OK Ian, we are only trying to get the written fact that will help us to help you, so the ! really is surplus to requirements. Moving forward:- Run diagnostics again to confirm that the front wheel is still the only offender. If so, check and trace wiring to sensor. Incidentally, what make sensor/s did you buy, and did you fit 4 of them? If wiring traces OK, consider other options such as rear wheel ‘senders’ which are built into the hubs. Finally Ian, we are not the Spanish Inquisition, but we do need facts to help, and being helpful is our only aim. Please come back to us with what you think. Kind regards, Gareth.
  23. Thanks again Ian, but I’m still unclear on which wheel the new Reluctor ring was fitted to - sorry if I’ve missed your answer to that question.
  24. Sorry Jim, incorrectly took the name from Brian, the poster who posted a helpful response to your plea. Thanks - the forum would be very interested in the progress with this, so thanks for promising to post the outcome. Kind regards, Gareth.
  25. Many thanks for acknowledging Brian, but any progress or plan to update us on? Kind regards, Gareth.
