  1. Hello Ian, Yes, I do for the non-Audi. For the Audi, it’s a physical file with all dated receipts. Probably a bit old fashioned, but I think you can’t beat a physical file, which for the Audi, must be over an inch thick. Kind regards, Gareth.
  2. Jason - please leave such responses to the Moderators. Thank you.
  3. Hello Harry, I’m not going to pre-guess any possible cause, but my opinion - for what it’s worth - is that any connection with adding Redex is more likely to be coincidental, as would be a restricted fuel filter. If it were mine, I would be booking the car in for a diagnostic check with a trusted local independent - rather than a main dealer. You can then hopefully talk directly with a technician - and come away without frightening your wallet! Kind regards, Gareth.
  4. Hello Harry, Sorry to hear of your issue:- (1) I too would be very surprised if the car doesn’t have a fuel filter. (2) I would be equally surprised if a fuel filter on a 19k petrol engined car would need changing, or would be the primary cause of the warning you are having. Hello Jason, I have just re-read your post of the 23rd Feb. in response to Stevey Y’s post:- In a simple one sentence retort - what the heck are you on about Jason? Kind regards, Gareth.
  5. Please sit down and give this a good coat of thinking about Jay. To put it bluntly - the seller has no responsibility to pay for the repairs you are going to spend to get done, the car’s mechanical condition was not mentioned in his advert. ‘….see him court….’ I think I’ve made it clear that raising a court case against him will cost you (in caps) money, and you have to work out in your mind whether you are completely confident that the court will find in your favour, but please bear in mind that this is a personal opinion, and obviously differs from yours. For what it’s worth, my advice would be to seek advice - CAB should be able to offer you impartial advice. If it were mine, I would be seriously diluting my ‘claim’ on the seller, and politely asking for some further goodwill contribution to your outgoings. That would be my approach, but I’m not you, and you might like to be determined enough to spend on reports and for an engineer to attend court, based on your belief that you will win. That’s a gamble Jay, but good luck if you decide to go ahead after talking with the CAB. Kind regards, Gareth.
  6. Hello Johnny, According to the original poster it should be changed at 38k. Yours has now covered over 50k so is overdue. I’m not sure why the ‘..4 months before next service …’ bit. Any reason why they won’t do it now? Kind regards, Gareth.
  7. Wondering how you are getting on with this Jay -? Kind regards, Gareth.
  8. Hello Dave, I guess you are talking mud flaps. Have you tried Ali Express ( China). I bought a set from them for a non Audi a couple of years ago, and if I hadn’t seen the packaging before they were fitted, I would not be able to see any difference between the ones I would have bought from a main dealer. You could also register your ‘want’ on one of the on-line car breaker link sites such as Partsfinder - there are more. It would be great if you could share any success with other members. Kind regards, Gareth.
  9. Hello Dave, What was the tyre size on your 19 inch wheels? Kind regards, Gareth.
  10. Hello Jason, Thanks for your latest post, stating that the offending component is the Voltage Stabiliser Regulator fitted to the poster’s vehicle. If Kyle actually replaces this component and the issue isn’t solved, will you be prepared to fully reimburse him his outlay? Kind regards, Gareth.
  11. Hello Kyle, To keep it simple, you need to measure any residual discharge at the battery once the car has been locked up, the alarm set, and the whole system has gone to ‘sleep’. As a ball park figure, you would be looking for a drain in excess of around 50mA, if your battery is being discharged via. a parasitic drain. If it has been established that the drain is greater than that, then it becomes a laborious task of removing each fuse in turn until the offending circuit is found. Yes, you could DIY it if you have the correct meters to do it, but it may be one of those tasks left to a a trusted local autoelectrician. Kind regards, Gareth. p.s. Any of this maybe influenced by water/ moisture ingress.
  12. Hello Stephen and welcome. If this were mine, I would treat this on a one thing at one time principle. Not reaching temperature is typical of a failing/failed thermostat, so that would need investigating and then renewing to ensure the car is operating at the optimum temperature. Once it’s operating at 90 degrees, you can then set in motion a plan of action for the remaining issues. Kind regards, Gareth.
  13. Hello Wesley, Judging by your photo, it seems the nearby vertical chrome trim is also coming away slightly. Slight impact damage? The displaced horizontal bar is now distorted, and any attempt to set in back into its original place/seating, may result in it being under stress. Only you would know that, by its resistance to seat where it should, so you would need to test that. If indeed it will be under stress then it would be wise to carefully heat it with a hair dryer and gently reshape it until it’s happy to sit where it should. It would be well worth cleaning the area to be re-stuck with some meths beforehand. Once you are happy the trim will sit back comfortably where it was, you can stick it with Tigerseal adhesive sealer. Again it would be good to mask off the trim edge and surrounds, so that the excess Tigerseal does not stick where you don’t want it to. Kind regards, Gareth.
  14. Hello David, You could try Audi Parts Direct at Cardiff - part of Mon Motors - originally Cardiff Audi. You might be lucky and get a small discount, but as I understand it, even the true Trade discount is not what it used to be, although every little helps! They do mail order. Kind regards, Gareth.
  15. Sorry Jason, Your latest post editing has just succeeded in totally confusing an already confused thread - due to your earlier post editing! As politely as I can ask you:- With the exception of typos - please do not edit any posts once you have posted them, so carefully consider what you are posting before you press the button - Please. Kind regards, Gareth. p.s. No need to respond to this and protract the dialogue.
  16. Hello Jason, You appear to be editing your posts, so that the thread of our exchanges and my request to you to dilute your ‘claim’ to one of ‘In my opinion’ has been lost, making it disjointed. Please stick with your initial reactions, or request one of the Moderators to consider any non-typo type amendments you subsequently wish to make. Kind regards, Gareth.
  17. Thanks Aadam, Obviously your choice, but if it were mine, I would be carrying out my test before embarking on any expenditure. Kind regards, Gareth.
  18. Thanks Jason, I’ll make the appropriate amendment, and record your dissatisfaction with my doing so. Kind regards, Gareth.
  19. Hello Esus, It may well be worth have a hands-on opinion from your trusted local garage or independent specialist, before embarking on renewing anything. Kind regards, Gareth.
  20. Hello Jay, As I said before , I really do feel for you, but please don’t lose sight of the fact that:- The seller did not make any claim to this vehicle being free from any mechanical issues. You were given an opportunity to assess that aspect for yourself, and you did, and you bought it. You have since had work done on the car which now renders it different from what the seller sold you. If it were mine, I would not be spending any more money on it, if your hope is to reclaim that expenditure back from the seller. The reality is that you really don’t have much of a chance of that being successful, but I could be wrong, and this is why I suggest you should seek advice from CAB, before proceeding further. Kind regards, Gareth.
  21. Sorry to say it as I see it Jason, but oh blinking heck! The ‘grometed’ hole , with an associated drain off tube, is there simply to allow rain water which will flow into the recessed fuel filler chamber to escape. If it gets blocked, rain water will collect within the flap- covered filler chamber. Possible reason for the extra hole? See -guess - in earlier post. Kind regards, Gareth.
  22. Thanks Zoe, How long have you had the car, and has it been like this from the time you had it? Kind regards, Zoe.
