Photos, details, price, David?

Hello Ivan, Welcome and thanks for joining. Obviously your choice, but it might be worth considering that you are significantly altering the originality of this 5 year old car, and that is likely to lead to suspicion if you intend selling it within the next couple of years. Kind regards, Gareth.
-
Thanks Mohammed, so at least you now know you can obtain insurance before you commit to buy. Kind regards, Gareth.
-
Thanks Nick. Interested in the ‘only one person’ scam. For the benefit of anyone selling a vehicle - what is the principle of the scam? Kind regards, Gareth.
-
Hello Mohammed, ‘About to bite the bullet’.. is good, and it is almost a must to get insurance quotes ( hopefully you can, as opposed to companies declining to quote), before you actually commit to buy. Perhaps you could let us know how you get on. Kind regards, Gareth.

Multiple oil ( & coolant) leaks, raised crank-case pressure?
Magnet replied to ChrisP's topic in Audi A6 (C8) Forum
Many thanks for the additional information Christopher. Apologies for the confusion over the dip stick - did mention ‘used to’. Oil dilution may indeed be the reason why this engine may have suffered from premature bore/ring wear. Sorry to be pedantic and ask more questions, but ‘serviced to manufacturer’s spec….’ Would this have been on a Longlife schedule by any chance, where the oil was changed c every 18k? If so, this bad experience may point to the benefits of at least annual changes, and dare I say every 6months, where oil dilution raises its head. Kind regards, Gareth. -
Fair do s as we say in these parts - pretty good then - and Thomas knows where to come then. Kind regards, Gareth.
-
Many thanks for the useful information Cristian. You can of course service ‘To the schedule’ or you can decide to service in such a way as to maximise the longevity of the car. My (DIY) regime is simple:- oil and filter every year, air and pollen filters every other year. Does the garage you use have the facility to record their work on to the VAG service system? Do you know what brand filters they use? Kind regards, Gareth.
-
Hello Cristian, Could you let us know what your annual mileage is, whether you are going to entrust the servicing to an Audi main dealer, trusted local garage, or are you DIYing it? Kind regards, Gareth.
-
Thanks Jason, Ever tried to remove the saddle clamp bolts a 14 year old one of these on your back? Kind regards, Gareth.

Welcome Stason. Sorry to hear about your unfortunate mishap, and for the bird’s demise. The part should simply clip back in, but no doubt you will need to respray the new part before fitting. Doubtful the main dealer will have an aerosol ( probably brush- on) touch up only, but armed with the correct colour code, you should find an automotive paint supplier who can mix you an aerosol. Kind regards, Gareth.

S3 found small amount of oil in expansion tank?
Magnet replied to Marshy1987's topic in Audi A3 (8V) Forum
Welcome and thanks for joining Grant. AudI specialists diagnosis sounds the most likely suspect. Kind regards, Gareth. -
So why can’t you get the old one off Tam?

Why would you want to do that Thomas? Kind regards, Gareth.

Multiple oil ( & coolant) leaks, raised crank-case pressure?
Magnet replied to ChrisP's topic in Audi A6 (C8) Forum
Hello Christopher, Culprit likely to be worn piston rings, allowing compression to feed back into the crankcase. Used to check for that by partially removing the dip stick and observing any back pressure. What is the maintenance history of this vehicle? Kind regards, Gareth. -
Hello Dale, Check for fractured wires in the flexible harness section twixt body and tailgate. Kind regards, Gareth.

Thanks and welcome Ian, Unfortunately you now know that what you have read about being able to listen and detect which of the sensors is at fault, ‘ain’t necessarily so’. You are likely to find there wasn’t anything wrong with the module, but there is with one of the sensors. Which one? Try diagnostics this time, but sit down when enquiring about the Audi sensor price. Have a look on EBay. Kind regards, Gareth.

Year 2000 A4 65000 miles. What to do with it?!
Magnet replied to moomaloo's topic in Audi A4 (B5) Forum
Hello Tim, We would normally welcome you to the forum, but that certainly wouldn’t be appropriate under your circumstances. What we can offer you and your mom is our sincere condolences on your Dad’s passing - they only make one, and they are irreplaceable if they could be exchanged. ‘What to do with the car’? Can I recommend - nothing - until you have given the matter a good few coats of thinking about, unless there is some vacating urgency about it. Sleep on it for a couple or so weeks Tim, and then come back to us, and yes we can offer some suggestions which I’m sure will help you find it a good home. Meanwhile, I would be wary of any quick interest being shown, and perhaps concentrate the mind on what type of person your Dad may have wanted to be its next owner. Please keep in touch whenever you need to - if we can help, we will. Condolences and kind regards, Gareth. -
Thanks Jason, but yes, we can only guess - that’s why I had already asked the OP to give us more information. Kind regards, Gareth.
-
Hello Nick, Welcome and thanks for joining. With appreciation that the car is out of manufacturer’s warranty, I’m not sure what you are referring to as an annual inspection. Perhaps you could colour in some detail for us. Coded out?? Kind regards, Gareth.
-
Welcome Andrew, Regrettably, I fear any attempt to suggest possible causes would be pure guesswork from a whole array of possibilities. Have you had the car scanned for fault codes, and if not, do you intend to? Perhaps you could come back to us with the findings. Kind regards, Gareth.

Disappointing forum - too much trouble to respond?
Magnet replied to audi999's topic in Audi Q5 Club
Thanks John for posting this under a separate topic. I am the ‘an admin’ you refer to in this post, and the person (Gareth is the name) who tendered apologies to you for the lack of response to your original post. Just to keep the record straight, I didn’t mean my earlier comments to be ‘supportive’, but simply to have been an out and out apology - and a plea for Q5 members to respond. Yes, hands up, responses from (in caps) members, is generally a fraction of the responses tendered to (in caps) members, and the ‘to’ responses are usually returned responses in replies to assistance given to the original poster. What can we do about it? A good question to raise -? Or are we to accept that ‘Generally Audi drivers want help, but seldom offer their help to anyone’. Does that sum it up forum members? The Moderators always attempt to do their best, and I’m sure I’m not alone in believing we do it freely, and to the highest standard we can, and are always open to be informed ‘you could have done better’, but apathy is quite a burden to carry! Apologies once again John, and regrettably, I have to admit in my experience on one of forums you mention, it certainly does point to a far far greater member member-to-member interchange that rather occurs on here. Perhaps I shouldn’t admit that, but… I really would be interested in any ideas you have John to improve the situation on here. We are always prepared to listen. FINAL PLEA on this topic:- Q5 OWNERS - PLEASE SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCES WITH JOHN. ( no apologies for caps). Kind regards, Gareth. -
Hello Peter, I recommend you stick with the tyre pressures specified for your tyre size - as shown on the door plate. No reason to consult any other available information. Kind regards, Gareth.

A1 2020 Clock and Mileage counter resets to 0:00 and 0

Welcome Richard, and many thanks for joining. Let’s hope we can tap into the progress Harry has made over the last month. Kind regards, Gareth. -
Thanks Dave, glad you have sorted it, by replacing the sensor. The ‘sender’ is usually within the hub casing, so it would be worthwhile renewing the hub assembly if the bearing is showing signs of wear. Kind regards, Gareth.
