  1. Hello Martin, OK, once you register the car in your name then it’s yours - even if the car turns out not to have any, or FSH. I guess you are assured by the seller that ‘the service history is there will the dealer’. If so, why cannot the seller obtain evidence of that? In addition, I’ve not failed to get service computerised information from main dealers for a vehicle that I’m interested in buying, even though I had not bought it at that stage. GDPR:- The main dealer will understandably not release details of the previous owners names and addresses, but should be able to confirm what services it’s had at what mileages and dates. Of course, your call. Kind regards, Gareth. p.s. You may be getting the cambelt and water pump renewed (with aftermarket parts) even if it might previously been replaced using Audi parts. Still…..
  2. Are you going to come back to us John?
  3. Thanks Les, so for anyone actually following this, you don’t know at this stage whether the wires inside the flexible harness are indeed sound. Kind regards, Gareth.
  4. Hello Tracie, Really sorry to hear of your plight. Not wishing to be patronising, but I think you have had very sound advice on here so far. A couple of points I would add:- record every contact in writing (e-mail confirming phone calls etc. will do). This will prove to be of vital importance if you have to legally progress this issue. We take it you don’t have the broken glass evidence -? My stab at this is that the breakage has emanated from a point where there was a stress raiser, and this maybe due to a flexing of the body shell at sometime/point. Too late now, but I would avoid these panoramic roofs like the plague - a source of your problem, and later a potential source of leaks. I would also suggest you visit, and seek advice from CAB. Perhaps you could keep us updated. Kind regards, Gareth.
  5. Hello Martin, To quote you ‘..service history is No1 thing I look for’ , yet you say you have committed to buy this car without sight of the service history. It's surprising how often FSH can disappear into the ether once the buyer has committed to purchase.
  6. Where else have you checked Kevin? You could try Parts in Motion - suggest a good brand such as Febi. Please keep us updated on progress. Kind regards, Gareth.
  7. Welcome Nigel, You will need to quantify how much coolant is being used in how many miles. Probably stating the obvious, but top up to the max mark when cold, note mileage, check daily, and say top up again after one week - or less if loss is substantial. Can you see any evidence of pink coolant deposits anywhere, any evidence of drips on driveway, any signs of water emulsion in the oil? Kind regards, Gareth.
  8. Hello Les, You are not confirming - when you say it’s sound - that you have actually peeled back the flexible harness covering, and inspected the cables within. Have you? If not, what you are saying is misleading. Kind regards, Gareth.
  9. If the wiring inside the flexible harness sections looks visually sound Les, it is sound. Kind regards, Gareth.
  10. Maybe gracious to thank Matt anyway Tomas - at least he took the trouble to respond to you.
  11. Please keep us updated Julian. Kind regards, Gareth.
  12. It may not be the sensors Kevin, but the ‘senders’. Believe the rears on yours are within the hub casting - well they are on the same year A3. Kind regards, Gareth.
  13. Welcome Les, Always worth eliminating a possible fracture in the cabling within the flexible harness section twixt body and tailgate. Please let us know how you get on with this inspection. Kind regards, Gareth.
  14. Any update for us Chris? It’s only via. updates and feedback that other forum members can benefit from.
  15. Thanks you Matt for brining this to Tomas’ attention. Kind regards, Gareth.
  16. Please let us know how you get on Charlie. Kind regards, Gareth.
  17. Thanks, just over borderline for an annual service schedule. Guess your is on an arbitrary 18k ish or maximum of 18 months schedule. Are you sure it says oil service, rather than service - which could mean a bi annual brake fluid change for example?
  18. What is your annual mileage?
  19. Hello Michael, You seem to have posted your plea and not returned to view the responses. We trust you are OK.
  20. Please let us know how you get on Mario.
  21. OK, not available via. Audi, so where else have you tried?
  22. OK, Seems it needs a new pair of springs, but you have to be doubly sure you get the correct ones. Way forward:- Try LLL Parts website to obtain the correct Audi Part number. Search EBay under that part number. Aim for a reputable make such as Febi or Monroe etc. Would be worthwhile checking Parts in Motion website by inputting your registration number. Last point - please let us know how you get on. Kind regards, Gareth.
  23. Thanks John, Couple of points:- Are you saying this is no longer available via. Audi? Where have you tried so far? Metal or plastic? Kind regards, Gareth.
  24. Not surprised. We had this situation before. It could be some years before LUK/Sachs are allowed to release them to the aftermarket. Is this becoming a new trend? As I understand it, for the likes of MG, you can’t even buy brake discs on the aftermarket. Kind regards, Gareth.
