Anyone else got any comments for Samanuel?
-
Indeed it could be ‘something else besides the engine mounts’, but you have to bear in mind that we don’t have any access to this vehicle to be about to inspect anything. If changing the transmission oil gave a temporary easement to your symptoms, then that too could be something to bring into the equation. So do you have a transmission specialist within reasonable distance? Kind regards, Gareth.

That’s a bit obscure for this forum!

Audi A6 C7 2018 Matrix LED Headlight condensation problem
Magnet replied to Patrick P.'s topic in Audi A6 (C7) Forum
Hello Patrick, Sorry to hear of your problem. As far as I’m aware, these headlight ‘glasses’ are sealed from new, and those seals (and bulb seals) can deteriorate, and this causes the issue you have. I’m not sure if it’s practical to carryout any permanent repair, but I seriously doubt that you can. Temporary removal:- Get a hair drier on a medium setting and gently ( in caps) warm the lenses until the condensations reduces to an acceptable level. Kind regards, Gareth. -
Hello Phill, Welcome and thanks for joining. Sorry to hear of your ongoing issue, and to me, I think there is just one simple question to ask, and be answered here:- Did you buy this car from an Audi dealer, or Audi U.K./Audi’s warranty provider? The answer of course is an Audi dealer, so your contract is with them, and they have to repair the vehicle irrespective of whether they can reclaim their outlay or not. If they can’t - tough - unless they can prove that you ‘damaged’ it. Not being critical, but I think you’ve left this debate go on too long, and perhaps understandably dealt with a Sales Manager. If this were mine, once any element of ‘we ain’t going to fix it’ came in, I would have been addressing the resolution directly to the dealer principal, and not a Sales Manager. A carefully worded assertive and time limited e-mail to the dealer principal would be my urgent way forward. Perhaps you could let us know how you get on Phill. Kind regards, Gareth.

Parking Brake Fault + drivers door opened itself!
Magnet replied to mstv's topic in Audi A6 (C8) Forum
Many thanks for coming back on this Mike, and glad Audi could reassure you that the handbrake mechanism was completely serviceable and fault free. Door latching:- is the dealer going to further investigate and rectify this issue - which appears to have thrown up a recorded fault? Kind regards, Gareth. -
OK Thomas, I’m just a thick Welshman, and don’t really get it!

Faulty brake lights when fog lights on
Magnet replied to Kellydavies1976's topic in Audi A3 (8P) Forum
Hello Kelly, Welcome and thanks for joining. Simple things first - it could be a poor earth on one or both units. If the earths prove to be OK:- possible fractured wire/s in the flexible harness section twixt tailgate and body, or the brake light switch maybe at fault. Perhaps you could let us know how hubby gets on. Kind regards, Gareth. -
Hello Thomas, Have you tried getting an assistant to attempt to press down and up on the front edge of the bonnet while you pull the lever? Kind regards, Gareth.
-
Thanks Peter, You (or the writer) could be right, and it maybe an exception to the normal warranty duration. The thing is you will have to discuss this with your dealer and get that confirmed/refuted. I don’t see any other way forward other that getting an independent or local garage to strip and assess that at your expense. Would you be kind enough to let us know how you get on Peter. Kind regards, Gareth.

Many thanks Samanuel, No offence meant on the twitchy comment, and I well understand you are a private buyer dipping your toes into a trader world, yet understandably want things to be as right as it would be if you bought it off a dealer forecourt. Apologies, but it may be an unrealistic aim. Accurate door gaps and non-cleaned vehicles are not what generally concern trade buyers - but money does, and it seems that this vehicle isn’t attractive enough to the trade at the price the seller is expecting to get for it. I think that about sums it up Samanuel. So your uncle valued it at x€ and you were prepared to pay €2000 above that, and it was rejected. We are trying to offer you as much independent advice as we can, but it might be worth asking your uncle for his more experienced view - would he buy it, and more importantly, would he recommend you to buy it? If they accepted your +€2000, how would that price compare with a similar example on a forecourt? I can understand your concern about about a couple of aspects, but it might be worth giving some thought to the fact that you really want to buy it, and are looking for some support for that view. Since this has regrettably become a one to one exchange, it really would be great to have some additional views/comments for you to consider. I genuinely wish you good luck with whatever you decide to do. Kind regards, Gareth. p.s. Come on folks, let’s have some other views apart from mine.

Hello David, The two suggestions are flywheel and engine mounts. Which would be the cheaper of the two to try first? Answer - engine mounts - so that would be my suggested way forward. Kind regards, Gareth.

Thanks Samanuel, So this vehicle is at what we call a ‘closed auction’, where you have to be a registered trader who has an active account with the auction house, to be able to buy. Are you a registered trader? The U.K. auction houses generally have a valeting arrangement with dealers or fleet operators, so that any not-well-presented vehicles are valeted before they are actually auctioned - not so in Germany? If I’ve got this right, this vehicle has already been through (a couple of times?) but must have failed to reach its reserve, or it’s condition (including mechanical) has been deemed to render it ‘not good value for money’. As I see it, not-well-presented, but otherwise sound cars often sell well, at the right price, since traders see the potential profit via. presenting them to their best. You are coming over strongly Samanuel as being very twitchy about this example, and if I was in your situation, I would be passing it by, unless the price makes it so attractive, that you can afford to take a chance. No offence meant, but just saying it as it comes over, your twitchiness suggests you are not the sort of person who would normally buy from a no-viewing auction, and I wonder if you are extending your luck a little too far here -? Anyway Samanuel, good luck with whatever you decide to do. Kind regards, Gareth.

Hello, Can you please complete your Profile, so we know your name, your location, and what engined variant you have. Thanks.

Hello Blazhe, Might be worth checking the wiring harness within the flexible length twixt body and trunk. Often the source of fractured cables. Kind regards, Gareth.

Many thanks Paul, Dare I say, if this was mine, I wouldn’t have been at all happy to have subjected this car to a non-variable static 2,000rpm for 2hrs., as part of a static 6 hr. running time, but too late now. Kind regards, Gareth.
-
Hello Paul, Absolutely catastrophic. Would you be able to post a clear photo of both parts of the sheared bolts? Kind regards, Gareth.

Many thanks for the additional information John. Am I allowed to say that in my total ignorance of architectural design, I think the building looks terrible! Please excuse this opinion John, on the basis that I’m old, and tend to say what I think. Good luck with the book. Kind regards, Gareth.
-
Thanks John - no offence made, but I think it’s only right that owners are made aware of what the situation is, in order that they can decide whether they wish to be involved or not. To try to box this up, although the arrangement will be made between yourself and the owner, any insurance cover would be between the photographer and the owner. I think you (personally and not involving the photographer) are being very fair to cover any costs, and you have now openly coloured in the relevant details to allay any suspicion. Please don’t give up hope that someone may come along to satisfy your requirements. Kind regards, Gareth.

Hello Victoria, Wondered how things are going with this, and whether you may be able to assist with the answers to the last couple of questions. I hope I’m not coming over as being confrontational, but I, and I guess other forum members, are completely ignorant of how the motor repair business actually works in Norway, so it would be great if you could fill in some of the interesting details for us. Many thanks and kind regards, Gareth.

What was the outcome to this Eli’s?

Hello Sathist Wondered if you now be kind enough to update us on the outcome. Many thanks and kind regards, Gareth.

Parking Brake Fault + drivers door opened itself!
Magnet replied to mstv's topic in Audi A6 (C8) Forum
Hello Mike, Sorry to hear of your unfortunate experience, but the good news is that you don’t have to concern yourself with the cause of the issue, or indeed it’s rectification - although it could be of interest to other forum members who’s cars are no longer under warranty. Wonder if you would be kind enough to let us know what happens. Many thanks and kind regards, Gareth. -
Hello Richard, Many thanks for joining and posting the detail. It would indeed be a great shame to have to scrap it, but you have been very realistic with your anticipated outlay - I would add battery to the list. Some questions which might help interested members would include, how long it’s been off the road, and can we take it it has spent much of its life outside rather than undercover? If you don’t get any meaningful interest from forum member, I would be giving the car a good valet to enhance its appeal, and listing it on EBay to test the response there. Good luck with finding it a new home. Kind regards, Gareth.

Thanks John, but presumably you wouldn’t want this registered in the last weeks of this year as opposed to 1st Jan on? Yes, I know registration sequences will be the same, but I’m yet to come across anyone who doesn’t describe their car by actual year of registration, so if registered late in Dec. it will be described as a 2023 car, and ‘one year old in Jan.! Kind regards, Gareth.
